Oh my how well the new defense set a tone, 4 interceptions and etc., exactly why I think we'll enjoy a 10 point advantage over last year with the defense one score per game
Great game to be at. Super fun. The Ravens kept running(and really telegraphing) that TE scat route all game and our backers kept bailing to the flat. Mosby finally stayed home and we picked it off. I don’t know if that’s Hafley making adjustments or just individual quality, but the defense cooked all day. Same with the running game, just pounded it all game long. Welch also looked great on special teams and on defense. All around great game besides kicking.
The Green Bay Packers backups again took center stage for a 2nd straight preseason game. And they delivered a 30-7 win over the Baltimore Ravens, highlighted by the defense’s 4 takeaways. Sean Clifford and Michael Pratt had mixed results with Michael Pratt having the game’s best throw on his touchdown pass. Sean Clifford finished strong after a slow start, while Michael Pratt was better early before throwing a 2nd-half pick. The kickers were a combined 6 of 7 on field goals and extra points with both Greg Joseph and Anders Carlson making 50-plus yard field goals. It’s now onto the 2024-25 regular season for the Green Bay Packers to start out the year in Brazil when they take on the Philadelphia Eagles on Friday Night 8:15 ET. Week 1, September 6th. Go Pack Go 💚💚💛💛
I’m all about using a 6th every year to draft the best kicker in college till you end up finding one. The best teams in history have always had clutch kickers. If you have a guy who can hit from 30-60 over 90% at all ranges it completely changes the game. With Crosby in his prime Aaron knew at the end of a game if he could get to the the 35or even 40 the Crosby was putting it through. Then you have teams like the Vikings a couple years back who loose a playoff game missing a 25 yard kick
Welch, Anderson and Moseby definitely made their case to make the team. We are definitely 70 plus deep. What's up with Donavan Jennings? Is he an IR stash?
Andy I think we keep Joseph, but isn't the scenario you described (cut young, becomes great on another team in a couple years) exactly what his brother did??
Anders tends to be better with distant kicks, and any kicks less than 45 yards are his worst compared to other pro kickers. You need a guy who can hit the short ones. And when I say he is better at long kicks, I mean he is about as accurate with those at league average, not some world beater.
I still dont see why Sean Clifford was good enough last year but not this year what about the blocking in front of him whats the count on second and third downs?
Trade Dubose for Heineke. Pratt has true potential and a future. I wouldn't want Clifford to be the #2. If Love goes down for more than a game we are in trouble. He might get released with Penix on the roster.
First game I watched under the new rules. I didn't like it! Of course I didn't understand what was going on with the new kickoff rules as the announcers didn't take time to explain the new rules. Maybe you could take time to explain the new rules. But I didn't like how the new rules affected the game. It looks like a JV game instead of NFL pro football. Say goodbye to the 99 yard scoring plays. A lot of records are going to stand because they no longer can be broken. The teams just looked like they were playing in the middle field all the time (I guess because they were!). I think that NFL Football's popularity is going to lose some fans due to this change, but NFL Football will survive- but they're going to lose some fans.
Andy, I’m incredibly grateful for all the great work you do on this channel but enough is enough. This Carlson rhetoric needs to stop man. The kid’s just fine. He’s growing and will be a great kicker for this team. Why are so many people acting like he doesn’t ALREADY have a better fg % than Mason Crosby in his 16 YEARS as a Packer?? Yeah Anders is inconsistent and that’s frustrating. But so was Mason and the Packers didn’t part ways with Crosby until his noodle leg basically fell off his body. Carlson isn’t going anywhere. Time to move on from your petty kvetching and cheer for the guys on the roster. Be better.
I refuse to believe there's anyone thats actually this worked up over me being concerned that the kicker can't consistently make 32-yard field goals. And if Matt LaFleur felt differently he had every opportunity to name Anders Carlson his kicker today and instead he said they'd look around to see what's available. I'm not a cheerleader. Anders hasn't been good enough, that's a clear fact. Maybe they still keep him, as I said numerous times today, but my job is not to just "cheer the guys on the roster." If you're looking for a fan podcast that's only going to tell you the good news and that everything is great, it's probably time to "window shop" for a new podcast...
@@PackADayPodcast I’m asking you to be realistic, Andy. The Packers aren’t moving on from a guy they invested a draft pick on because he’s not perfect. I understand we love to look at the past through rose tinted glasses, but Mason Crosby was not some sensational, generational talent. He was slightly above average, and that’s exactly what Anders projects to be. I’ll I’m saying is there are so many other positional battles on this team that will have a much bigger impact this season beyond the kicker. Only reason I left the comment is because I got so used to the EXCEPTIONAL coverage you provide on this channel that it’s been a surprise to see you buy into this narrative over the past couple weeks. Monk appeared to play well. Our future center in the next couple yrs
@JefferyT1991 Myers is a decent C but Creed is special. We have had success with OSU Centers to be fair.
This game was fun to watch overall

The hopeful thing with Carlson is that his brother Daniel settled down and is now a great kicker.
Just saw a pic of Baks knee on his story… I wouldn’t be surprised if he ever plays again
Wait what
Whoa really? Where at?
Can we bring in Mason as an assistant special teams coach for Anders??
Lol, no

Just play for the touchdown or punt. No field goals...

Rory Beggan was the best kicker from IPP and wasn't claimed..... his age is probably a concern but at this stage worth a practice squad??

The Jets have a kicker that's nailing everything in preseason and he will not make the team because their kicker is probowl
I like Carlson. But why cant he make a putt?

Trade Clifford and conditional 7th for Bates on Lions
