Az 1945-ben létrejött második magyar köztársaságban a lakosságnak többször is volt módja szavazni a Magyar Dolgozók Pártjának hatalomátvétele előtt. Az 1947-es (kékcédulás) választáson induló egyik párt a Demokrata Néppárt (DNP), korábbi nevén Kereszténydemokrata Néppárt volt. Vezetője, Barankovics István (1906-1974) egykori hírlapíró, szerkesztő a párt balszárnyához tartozott, ezért a keresztény oldalról is többen támadták: kifejezetten támogatta a háború utáni szociális reformok nagy részét. Ugyanakkor vállaltan a koalíciós kormány ellenzékéhez tartozott.
Jelen beszéde a választások előtt elmondott programbeszéd. A felvétel sajnos nem teljes: eleje és a közepéből egy rész hiányzik. A beszéd elején Barankovics a szavazáson való részvételre buzdít, majd aláhúzza pártjának keresztény világnézetét és ellenzéki voltát. A későbbiekben hiányzó rész az önkormányzatok megszervezéséről, a vallásszabadság és az egyházi oktatás megtartásáról és a Vatikánnal való jó viszonyról kialakításáról szól.
1947-ben pártja hivatalosan 14,6%-ot kapott: sok korábbi kisgazda szavazó is őket támogatta, mivel a kisgazdák a kommunista párttal voltak koalícióban. A pontos adatokat nem ismerhetjük, mivel az 1947-es választást elcsalták.
A DNP ellenzéki pártként működött a következő hónapokban. Rákosi 1949-ben megfenyegette Barankovicsot, hogy támogassa a kormányt, ám Barankovics ellentmondott. A párt feloszlatása után emigrált, életében már nem tért haza. A DNP tagjai közül többeket üldözött a sztálinista rendszer. A DNP 1990-ben Kereszténydemokrata Néppárt néven alakult újjá, de gazdaságpolitikája elvesztette baloldali jellegét.

In the Second Hungarian Republic established in 1945, the population had several opportunities to vote before the Hungarian Workers' Party took power. One of the parties running in the 1947 ("blue-ballot") elections was the Democratic People's Party (DNP), formerly known as the Christian Democratic People's Party. Its leader, István Barankovics (1906-1974), a former newspaper writer and editor, belonged to the left wing of the party, which is why he was attacked by many from the Christian political side: he specifically supported most of the post-war social reforms. At the same time, he voluntarily belonged to the opposition of the coalition government.
His present speech is a program speech given before the elections. Unfortunately, the recording is not complete: the beginning and part of the middle are missing. At the beginning of the speech, Barankovics encourages participation in the vote, and then underlines his party's Christian worldview and its oppositional role. The later missing part is about the organization of self-governments, the maintenance of religious freedom and church education, and the establishment of a good relationship with the Vatican.
In 1947, his party officially received 14.6% of the votes: many former smallholders also supported them, since the Smallholders' Party was in a coalition with the Communist Party. We do not know the exact data, as the 1947 election was rigged.
The DNP functioned as an opposition party in the following months. In 1949, Chairman Rákosi threatened Barankovics to support the government, but Barankovics refused. After the dissolution of the party, he emigrated and never returned home. Many members of the DNP were persecuted by the Stalinist regime. The DNP was re-established as the Christian Democratic People's Party in 1990, but its economic policy lost its left-wing character.

Is there any party nowadays with a left wing economic policy and a right wing moral policy? (If Fidesz does not support that anymore and KDNP is too small).

@carlosmpsenyorcapitacollon6977 I'm not sure if Hungarian political parties are organized on an ideological common basis. Perhaps Jobbik is the closest to what you propose, but they are not nearly as religious and right-wing as they once were.
The economic policy of Fidesz certainly has some left-wing elements, like monopolies and the socialization of certain sectors, or price freezes. But I would not say these are left-wing because there's any left-wing ideology behind them; they are simply used on a practical level. Seeing the events of the last months/years, I'm unsure if Fidesz has any moral policy left at all. But the latter is subjective, of course.
