Hey man, good luck on your ranked journey! I started at 600mmr and I'm at 1200 - and I can 100% attribute it to watching Surrey Mechabellum, the rat! I made a document with screenshots from his videos and I followed them religiously along with notes: first round only buying chaff, only buying chaff in second round if I don't have to counter something, only loaning from round 7 and each round after (this was the most difficult to get out of my system, but it makes a huge difference!), if no unit drop on round 3 then always take an item because round 4 or 5 will be a big unit drop. Chaff: Fangs vs Sledge/Archs, Crawlers vs stangs / stormies. I like to play aggro, so I took a lot of screenshots of hit starting positions against different lineups etc. I've plateaued now and I'm not gaining MMR, but now I realise that his tips were not hard rules - they were simply things to stop low mmr noobs like myself from getting into a bad position and making simple mistakes. You can break all of those "rules" if they will gain you advantage, now I just have to identify what are and when I can take those advantages!
