The main thing is that you're okay Mike - they are spectacular when they let go and you're a bit of a captive audience if you're holding the thing at the time - hope all is good with you - regards - Dale
Scary. I bought an old bow - my first - on eBay that looked a lot like that one and it exploded just like that as I was pulling it back. I'm lucky I didn't lose an eye. If I try again, it will be with something much newer. Maybe it would be a good idea to apply some kind of backing when refinishing these old bows so if they do break the pieces won't go flying.
Hi Mike. That sucks but happed to all of us. Say, is this bow made of Yew? because it seems to be strung the other way around. The light color sap wood should be the back and the brown heart wood should be the belly.
Taking a chance with real old, wood bows. Glad you escaped injury! Have you carved an Osage Custom Bow yet. I couldn't remember if you had. You have been at it a long time....figure you have. Peace Mike! Great Show! Cant catch everything!
epoxy starts to breakdown around 60 to 70 degrees Celsius so soaking in a cup of boiled water should break the bond..... and hopefully not damage the horn.
I can't wait to finally pull back a string. Thank you again for your videos. Homer
If you're not breaking bows, you're not making bows, someone once said :-) Looking forward to the next bow rescue.
Much appreciated. It was a really fun project regardless of the outcome.
I haven't been in the shop due to recent surgery but I enjoy watching you do it for me.
Thank you for watching and get well soon... There be bows need a bendin'
Hey Mike you never know what's underneath but it's still a lot of fun too find out. I love you're videos.
It happens to us all! Thanks for sharing, keep them coming!
Of course it was worth the try! You've earned some experience! :D
Cheers Mike!

My respect to you . Sir
You could always cut the knocks off and drill them out. Epoxy has no problem sticking to epoxy, so you could save them.

Oh man ! thats what happens , maybe it was just dry and tired ( what ! ) . You could just cut off the nocks and drill them out . Cheers from Denmark .
when this success appears.. I'm going to sleep... And forgot all. R.I.P

Hi Mike sorry for the failure sometimes you never know I do like the horn knocks

Thanks! I have done several osage and really love it. My favorite bow wood and the best IMO.

Sorry for your loss. I messaged you a question. Please check your inbox.
boil the horn nocks in water for five minutes and they will come of with two part epoxy
