      I wouldn't call it respect.
More like basic civility, essential both for his personal safety and to get decent interviews.
Respect is earned for showing good character, and it's safe to say that all of these inmates failed that test resoundingly.

@Jay in my country carrying a knife / razor on public roads is a crime if used for the purpose of defense or attack and that is why we are faced with a prohibited weapon situation. Unless you are a professional and can prove you use knives professionally you cannot carry anything that cuts over the total length of 10 cm.If you are a professional cook your knives must remain in your job site unless the venue changes. receits are required to prove professional situations.

I actually do believe in the death penalty for heinous crimes I just don't trust corrupt police departments that are under pressure to arrest someone quickly and that being more important than making absolutely sure they get the actual perp in MANY cases over the years.
The vast majority of folks in prison are guilty, its these death row, heinous crimes were it has turned out to be the most likely cases where an innocent man is convicted due to the pressure from the citizens and also them having good numbers when it comes to rates of murder vs conviction.

I was sympathetic with Baer to begin with. Drugs make you do crazy shit, and him proclaiming tk love life and his cat and crying at the drop of a hat. But when he described the child as an it (when describing changing his plan with breaking into homes), then says he had planned on raping the mother shows it was more than an impulse breaking and entering. This was premeditated. He is where he needs to be. I love that the interviewer called him out. He makes me question my disbelief in the death penalty. But this man has earned it. To hear his see sentence was commuted is heart breaking and rage inducing.

brock willenborg do you realize he’s already eating, reading, writing and petting a cat before he would have been executed. So his punishment being extended without the death penalty makes no difference because he will continue to do the same thing he was doing before his execution. We think death penalty is the ultimate capital punishment but really it’s not, the literally eat their favorite meal, get to say goodbye and have conjugal visit just to face death they knew was coming.

@ I have to respectfully disagree with this. I work in a prison and I don't think redemption is always possible. Sometimes it is, for sure, and it's great to see ex-inmates on the outside gainfully employed and making the most out of their lives. But there are people who have no qualms about harming others and refuse to acknowledge they have a problem. There's an inmate here who hacked his own kids to death with an axe when they said they wanted to go and live with their mother, but vehemently denies he has violence or anger issues so refuses to do the courses prescribed by the prison psych. He then can't understand why his parole keeps being denied and he gets angry and self righteous about it. People like that make me shake my head. He is beyond redemption and there are more like him.

Baer’s death sentence was overturned in 2018 and he was given life. At the time of this crime, he was on parole for burglary and attempted rape in two other counties. After he slashed her mother’s throat, he chased little Jenna Clark down in the house and then cut her throat. Thank God Corey’s other little girl, age 7, was at school. Mr. Clark was out of town. Can you imagine the terror Jenna felt as she tried to run away from this monster?! Guys like him always seem to somehow minimize their over all criminal activity. I’ve lost two siblings, but have never been a criminal because of it. They always make excuses. Go to Murderpedia.org and see the Mitigating Circumstances. Excuses, excuses. He was a junkie and a sexual deviant. This is why I’m opposed to the death sentence; it has nothing to do with whether it is a deserved punishment. He had 16 appeals...sixteen!! How much money did that cost the tax payers? Had he been given a life sentence initially, that pretty much would have been it. I don’t know Indiana law, but in most cases I’ve heard of, three appeals is the norm. Just put someone like this away, for good, throw away the key, no questions asked, adios!

Instead now these pieces of human garbage waste out tax dollars, play video games, watch tv, exercise, have pets etc etc. They're bored? How about you go break some rocks, tend a field, do what is supposed to be done...PAY PENNANCE! This pisses me off to no extent.

I think prisons should be run like boot camp and everyone who is able, should be working to produce something, be it gardening and producing food, making items, whatever, they need to work, exercise and be productive.
