This man was the perfect man to do these interviews. These men have committed horrible crimes and he still has so much respect for them.
I wouldn't call it respect.
More like basic civility, essential both for his personal safety and to get decent interviews.
Respect is earned for showing good character, and it's safe to say that all of these inmates failed that test resoundingly.
Do you hear yourself? These people do not deserve any respect. They do not deserve any comfort. These people selfishly took away lives. They have no remorse except for their own pathetic skins.
They don’t deserve respect
"They were stabbed to death." NOT "I stabbed them to death." Still not internalizing responsibility for his crime.
for 700$ tho 🤦🏾♂️🤦🏾♂️
But he's innocent.
Everyone is innocent, let ‘em all go.
Yes, good point
@Jay in my country carrying a knife / razor on public roads is a crime if used for the purpose of defense or attack and that is why we are faced with a prohibited weapon situation. Unless you are a professional and can prove you use knives professionally you cannot carry anything that cuts over the total length of 10 cm.If you are a professional cook your knives must remain in your job site unless the venue changes. receits are required to prove professional situations.
I wonder how many murders asked their victims if they were comfortable before taking their life?
Maybe we should bring back being hung drawn and quartered
Exactly
Dont piss off the people who aren't afraid of the consequences , simple
It's like they're trying to humanize these people. Like feel bad for this guy because he sits around agonizing about his death penalty and yet they didn't give anybody a say in their murders. These people have guitars they have cats they probably eat better than we do and they get treated with more respect than we do
They're already killing them. What more do you bloodthirsty maniacs want?
"I just committed that one murder" (of two innocent people).
I'm no math genius, but I believe that counts as TWO murders.
Little bit lost, Hi I know right ? He is acting like he did nothing wrong. Amazing !
Plus the fact that he says I JUST committed that one murder. Like saying I JUST stole that one cookie.
I think he is full of shit about being forced to do it.
One crime one murder
Yep. He forgot to carry the 1 over.
"I only committed this one murder, and I killed two people."
No you committed 2 murders. That's a pretty rough crime bro. It's not like you did some petty shit, double murder is worth the death penalty.

Just the one ????
@@bonnytaylor7558 yea, people are dumb. I think some may need to be locked up. Lol
“ how did you kill them?”

My heart dropped . He just said it so matter of fact
@Thomas O'Neill no, it institutionalizes them. These men are never safe to women and children. They are only safe surrounded by other men that can beat them to a puddle when they do not comply.
I'm pretty sure that first guy is candy coating the entire thing.
Trevor is excellent at doing this..He seems so interested and concerned about them and giving them respect at the same time.. He asked all the right questions for us.. Great video and Great job Trevor! I am so happy that Ive subscribed...
Yes I totally agree with you all the way
I have great respect of Trevor, he is understanding of their circumstances and is not condescending.
i find him cold, rigid and somewhat pompous. have seen far better interviewers in the same scenario.
@Julie Sprik lol read more about people from other countries and stages of life? yes civil is a way to describe him,. what i mean was he didnt give me anything new from the characters, his questions were the same old stuff. no new insights, nothing to say about it all. i didnt say he was intolerant at all. just stiff.

Whew. This is heavy.
WHY is all this SO sad? WHAT ABOUT THEIR VICTIM(S)? My only true question is why 20 yrs until their sentence is ACTUALLY carried out?
That's a good question that's way to long.
It is to make sure that the right person has been sentenced to death. Over 150 people have been exonerated from death row.
Then there are other issues such as human rights issues (eg- how to execute), legal issues (eg appeals). In fact, every death row case is automatically appealed.
They get an automatic appeal, and that can be taken to higher courts.... that process can last for years. It's the LAW.
Lawyers
@@penazmehta9165 and that doesn't even count the people who were executed that weren't discovered to actually be innocent until afterwards.
The long appeals process makes sense.
I actually do believe in the death penalty for heinous crimes I just don't trust corrupt police departments that are under pressure to arrest someone quickly and that being more important than making absolutely sure they get the actual perp in MANY cases over the years.
The vast majority of folks in prison are guilty, its these death row, heinous crimes were it has turned out to be the most likely cases where an innocent man is convicted due to the pressure from the citizens and also them having good numbers when it comes to rates of murder vs conviction.
For sure, if you think before commit a crime maybe that will help... The last killer to be interviewed has accepted his fate...
Says he committed "this one murder thats it!" Like he stole a candy bar. 2 secs later "i took the lives of 2 people". Guess he learned a different math than i did.......
The last one has accepted his fate.
Even the worse criminals can open their heart to this smooth Interviewer
Giving the prisoners kitty cats is like the BEST idea ever! There's so many homeless kitty's that need help

The barber seemed like someone's nice grandpa, until he told of killing two people for money.
There's definitely more to his story.
People in the military do it all the time 😂
Thank you for such a respectful story.
16 levels of appeals? That’s beyond ridiculous.
That how to justify expenses and taxpayers for those in court get paid good money 💰 I
If they executed him the first week how they can justify all the expenses
I agree john,it's very unfair to the familys!!!
It should be very hard to take a human life.
It's to make as sure as they can that no innocent person is executed. A number of innocent people have almost certainly been executed in the USA since e.g. 1900. There have been two dozen death row exonerations since DNA evidence became available in the late 1980s.
We know of at least one and probably two innocent men who were hanged in Britain, with a much smaller population, in the last century, until the death penalty was abolished in 1967. And those are the ones we know about.

Great job interviewing everyone and showing us life inside the prison l.
Deterrence... perhaps George Savile says it best. "Men are not hanged for stealing horses, but that horses may not be stolen." Foresight is a great predictor of success in life. We all know what road leads to death row, it never surprise me how many people managed to stumble there with no ownership to their actions.
@queen bee Yeah sure. I guess that is what the people in the suburbs say. All I know is a man killed his niece a year ago. The number one thing talked about was whether he was gonna get life. He pleaded out to avoid it.
No one escapes death.
Indeed, it's life and no one is getting out alive.

Death smiles at us all, and as men, all we can do is smile back. Emperor Marcus Aurelius.
One of my favorite quotes by Marcus Aurileus.Bc its so true.
So nine of them to make sure they’re comfortable. Give them a few quiet moments. Just like the killer gave their victims.
This is the first prisoner I've ever seen in any prison program who actually stated what they did and didn't lie or say they're innocent or flat refuse to speak of it. He actually said it all and didn't try to exaggerate anything. I commend him for having the guts to at least do that bc that cannot be easy and most all of them refuse to be so honest and straight forward. It doesn't change anything he did and it doesn't make him a good person but at least he was honest.
Ugh I was excited for this but saw it twice already lol
I def heard a tattoo gun in the back ground
Yep me too
Am I supposed to feel bad or sorry for these guy's 😕 well I don't, I feel bad for the cats that are stuck in side with them.
I agree
I do too but cat's offers this inmate comfort but Rascal looks healthy as long as she receives love from her owner I'm ok,but if the inmate makes someone mad they could take out on her that's what bothers me
I was sympathetic with Baer to begin with. Drugs make you do crazy shit, and him proclaiming tk love life and his cat and crying at the drop of a hat. But when he described the child as an it (when describing changing his plan with breaking into homes), then says he had planned on raping the mother shows it was more than an impulse breaking and entering. This was premeditated. He is where he needs to be. I love that the interviewer called him out. He makes me question my disbelief in the death penalty. But this man has earned it. To hear his see sentence was commuted is heart breaking and rage inducing.
I concur, Mary.
I am against the death penalty until I am certain no innocent man will be put to death.
He's no longer on death row?
@mary it almost sounds like you're excusing people's actions if they are f'd up on drugs and therefore do not deserve the penalties that their crimes demand.
I was too but its impossible to have empathy for someone capable of something so horrible. Not to say that it isn't sad though.
The man who killed the woman and 5 year old girl is a real creep. Hope he is in hell by now. They should let the other inmates get ahold of him.
You are an exceptional interviewer. Excellent. Well done.
Man that one man at the end that killed the mother and her daughter, yeah that disgust me and to finally hear what lead up to that (in part him admitting to being high on something) finally gave me a little insight. No excuse for what he did 💀
This will make you even more infuriated: His sentence was commuted...because he said he was on meth when he committed the crime and his lawyer didn't raise objections about his impairment at the time he committed the crime.
Yeah, some justice for the beautiful young woman he raped and and murdered and her daughter he also murdered.

Really good documentary. Thank you for showing the life of inmates. Done with much respect.
The superintendent is an amazing man. Frederick Baer's death sentence was overturned to life without parole. He himself said that death was not the punishment that he deserved, rather that he deserved to live the rest of life with endless regret and self-loathing.
This show did a good job sympathizing with that guy and humanizing him but at the end of the day he deserved his original sentence. Imagine slitting a 4 year olds throat wtf
@@JGriffin5150 Yep, this show is complete propaganda. They do everything they can to present these criminals as the victim. This man admitted to kiling a 26 year old woman and her child. Lethal injection is not what this man deserves, nor does he deserve to spend his life laughing, eating, watching tv, reading books, exercising, etc. Justice would be finding a short piece of rope and a big tall oak tree to watch the devil dance.
brock willenborg do you realize he’s already eating, reading, writing and petting a cat before he would have been executed. So his punishment being extended without the death penalty makes no difference because he will continue to do the same thing he was doing before his execution. We think death penalty is the ultimate capital punishment but really it’s not, the literally eat their favorite meal, get to say goodbye and have conjugal visit just to face death they knew was coming.
Death is too quick. Besides innocent men have in the past been executed because somebody missed some crucial evidence.
AMEN! The fact that he admits that he includes his Love of God, at work and church, is very admirable. It's great to sit in church a couple hours a week and talk about Jesus. It's even better to take the example of Christ outside the building. I'm grateful to see this.
i bet the man incharge on the day of execution will have a ptsd in the future..
It's not that hard if you don't think of them as persons. And you won't be in the same room, since you're injecting the poison into an IV from another room. Usually that is, I think
was hard to watch him balance in his mind as "forgiveness for being feeble" and "not understanding god's intentions" just go get another job. god aint holding a gun to your head.
@ "Redemption is always possible" ? You're living in a dream world. Look at the interviews of Ted Bundy and Bobby Joe Long--they couldn't stop killing, and wouldn't stop even if they could.
@ I have to respectfully disagree with this. I work in a prison and I don't think redemption is always possible. Sometimes it is, for sure, and it's great to see ex-inmates on the outside gainfully employed and making the most out of their lives. But there are people who have no qualms about harming others and refuse to acknowledge they have a problem. There's an inmate here who hacked his own kids to death with an axe when they said they wanted to go and live with their mother, but vehemently denies he has violence or anger issues so refuses to do the courses prescribed by the prison psych. He then can't understand why his parole keeps being denied and he gets angry and self righteous about it. People like that make me shake my head. He is beyond redemption and there are more like him.
Wow that was so intense to hear and watch. It will stay with me the rest of my life to.
Unbelievable of the level of comfort that there dregs of society live in . How many hard working people don't have such a luxurious suite .

The men on death row are given really large cells. It make life a little better when you're faced with their deaths.
Along with video games and TV, cat's,. They are getting a lot more than they should. I understand too many I sound harsh. I'm not, these people are on death row. Baer’s death sentence was overturned in 2018 and he was given life. At the time of this crime, he was on parole for burglary and attempted rape in two other counties. After he slashed her mother’s throat, he chased little Jenna Clark down in the house and then cut her throat. Thank God Corey’s other little girl, age 7, was at school. Mr. Clark was out of town. Can you imagine the terror Jenna felt as she tried to run away from this monster?! Guys like him always seem to somehow minimize their over all criminal activity. I’ve lost two siblings, but have never been a criminal because of it. They always make excuses. Go to Murderpedia.org and see the Mitigating Circumstances. Excuses, excuses. He was a junkie and a sexual deviant. This is why I’m opposed to the death sentence; it has nothing to do with whether it is a deserved punishment. He had 16 appeals...sixteen!! How much money did that cost the tax payers? Had he been given a life sentence initially, that pretty much would have been it. I don’t know Indiana law, but in most cases I’ve heard of, three appeals is the norm. Just put someone like this away, for good, throw away the key, no questions asked, adios!
They seem proud, or am I reading them wrong ?
Yes they are.

I think we have lost sight of punishment for crimes committed. Its a penitentiary because criminals pay penance for their crime. Instead now these pieces of human garbage waste out tax dollars, play video games, watch tv, exercise, have pets etc etc. They're bored? How about you go break some rocks, tend a field, do what is supposed to be done...PAY PENNANCE! This pisses me off to no extent.
I think prisons should be run like boot camp and everyone who is able, should be working to produce something, be it gardening and producing food, making items, whatever, they need to work, exercise and be productive. I do love the idea of cats and dogs, even rats and birds, as pets for inmates. They are human after all.

This renders me curious about the process of training, induction and work commencement of newly assigned prison officers. Going to search for a documentary on that.
