It is so well animated too. You can see the elites being confused or straight up scared. The Overwatch announcer voice even sounds scared. It seems like the Combine know who that is and that they are bound by certain rules when interacting with them, but they know that a Gman being visible to them is a BIG thing as they only show up when they want to.
one theory involving gman is pretty much that: that for whatever reason(s) known only to gman or his employers (if such "employers" even exist in the first place), he was disappointed with how hl2 ep2 turned out with eli's death and dissatisfied with freeman's performance and wants to find a replacement. Then thats when gman notices alyx and sees something in her that makes her a worthy replacement. Knowing that her father dies in the future and that she rly cares for her father, he lets himself get captured and then waits for alyx to free him, so that when she does, he can lure her with "something you don't know that you want." ie: prevent her father from dying in hl2 ep2

@@manatipowa who knows really. Gman had the ability to travel across the dimensions and has the ability to put things into stasis. While combine technology is nothing to be scoffed at, we have no idea if the prison was really capable of containing him
In half life the gman has a black mesa suitcase maybe the g man is a human with time travel technology and is trying to play god. I think he maybe was an employee at black mesa and has stolen experimental portal tecnology.

That way the Combine could focus on creating the vault in order to capture him later down the line. By itself it’s an odd string of events that those present at the time wouldnt be able to explain, but in the future it all makes sense and connects
I love how well thought out these things are. I can't play Alyx for a number of reasons, so I have my own headcanon (and aside from that my own very much not-canon AU stuff) so it's beautiful to see how you interpret and extrapolate what might have gone on. The lighting as usual is just ... jaw dropping. Amazingly well animated, and thought provoking. Thank you so much for sharing this with us.

i doubt elites would have existed. Alyx didnt encounter them so its very unlikely that elites were a thing until later. And the CItedal's alarm wasnt like that during HLA days. but still pretty good :)

I like the idea, I just don’t think the GMan would appear like that though, I have never thought of GMan going after a simple civil protection cop just to shoot them, get sent to a prison that later gets blown up by a scientist and all that, I think it’s just weird how it happened.
Very nice work from a VFX standpoint, but the concept of G-man having to resort to such crude measures seem to run at odds with the near omnipotence of his character.

Much less the status of elites existing in this timeline or what they would canonically look like at this point in time. I don't want to bash it because it's SO WELL DONE!!! As a transdimensional alien entity, it makes sense for the G-Man to have non-human hires, maybe this isn't the first time he places this Vortigaunt in the wrong place, at the right time. I really like that idea.
