10 years later, this album still grabs me every single time. It sounds nerdy but this album brings tears to my eyes sometimes from pure awesome nostalgia.
I feel incredibly sad watching this video because it's such a sincere capsule of a time and era that will never come back in this lifetime. I'm so glad I am old enough to remember how life felt back then even though I was only a young adolescent.
Great memories. Especially Tremont Music Hall. To this day I always thought Jay with short hair reminded me of Dale Jr. And the "astronaut-core" comment is perfect. The artwork is so perfectly matched to the sound. A fantastic union.
no wings and the satellite years were the total and absolute pinnacle of my obsession with music. there is absolutely nothing like it. also, my best live music experience was hearing End of an Era played in '03 at the Whiskey in LA. glad i was there.
Crazy to see them creating one the most influential records of my younger years. I was 17 when this came out and it carried me through some tough times. Even now, 11 years later I still get the chills when I hear certain parts.
yo tenía 16 años cuando escuchaba ese disco, HOY lanzaron un nuevo album lo vi en iTunes, y hoy me reencontre con el hace 10 años que lo escuche... tu historia me parecio similar a la mia.
Matt from HUM totally chillin in there produced this shit like a mug. HUM rules for all time and the Hopesfalls sound was perfect for him to work with. Awesome..
Hey this is excellent stuff! It just reminds me how the entire Satellite Years album may have been incredibly influential on me and my friends growing up as musicians but in reality it was written and recorded by other kids that just knew what they were doing and had a true passion for the music they created. What you guys were doing on your down time was the exact same thing we were... Thank you so much for sharing this man...
i see all these people talking about how this record changed their life and their prospective on music. and i cant deny it had the same effect on me. not quite as profoundly as No Wings To Speak of did tho. there will never in the entire time of the universe be an album thats so beautifully put together from every aspect. the outros to end of an era, the far pavillions, and only the clouds, never has anyone anywhere created such beauty with strings, wood, and drum heads.
@4:19 i've dreamt of a guitar tone like that ever since heard the end of andromeda, and now hearing it isolated makes me remember why i exist. still have never achieved such a beautiful and emotional guitar tone
Gibson stock pickups into a Mesa clean. Pretty easily to obtain. The Mesa recto has an extremely underrated clean sound. Perfect blend of chime with a little grit.
So i never post on youtube... im strickly a leech. But when i found this footage and saw it was accually posted by you i had to post. This album changed my life and way of thinking about music, like im sure it did for thousands of kids. What the lable did to you guys and whatever happened back stage is tragic bc if this line up was still making music .... i dont know... but it would be increadible. Basically i guess im just saying thank you for making Satalite Years.
I remember seeing Hopesfall at Cornerstone festival in 2000 or 2001, and it being the first exposure to anything like that I had ever had. Satellite Years to this day still blows my mind. Thanks so much for sharing the memories.
Wow, it really dosen't seem like it has been that long since this album came out. My how the years fly by... It's cool to see Mr. Matt Talbott on the boards over there. HUM and Hopesfall should have toured together when they did their reunion.
Awesome video! Thanks for putting it up. This record changed my life, no joke. I can still listen to all the time after all these years (and changes of taste in music) and I've never become sick of it. It still gives me chills. I can't really say that about many, or any other records really.
I love this band alot, this video is concatenated with very emotional feelings(in a good way) especially the ending... The Satellite Years were AMAZING
really, this album shaped my years of teenage angst. I loved it with every part of me. but what a bunch of nerds in the studio. Except for the dancing, with the producer, props for that. This is in no way a negative comment. The Goldeneye in the studio is way rad. From the age of "hardcore" this is the only album I could put on and still enjoy, but enjoy with all of me. Thanks to you guys, you geeks.
many thanks to anyone who took part in the making of this album. By far one of my favorite albums of all time. Crazy to think i first heard it in 2003, yet I still enjoy it as if it were the first times hearing it...
Remember when Brigham smacked me in the head with his guitar in CBGBs? Old school classic. Thank you guys for turning me into your music and your influences, like Hum and Shiner. Would love to keep up with your new music now. Let me know whenever you guys are in NYC.
Hopesfall, one of the most influentiual bands ever, I love this band, and I love all their albums, from the frailty of words to their unreleased demo Saskatchewan, I was five years old when the satelite years came out
My first time seeing them was also on that tour with coheed when they came to philly... I went to see coheed but was completely blown away by hopesfall
Wow this is really cool! One of my favorite albums for sure. Also liked the footage with Matt and the SHINER poster=PRICELESS! Very cool to upload this.
Come back!!! Make this kind of music again, please. Not just for me, but for an insane amount of people who are just now getting to hear it. It's so often imitated, but never recreated... I'd shit myself, honestly.
Just bought a cd copy of Satellite Years from Trustkill a couple of weeks ago, youtube actually recommended it to me years ago but waitress lost me, idk why, decided a month or two ago I was gonna listen to it again after binging on HUM, Shiner and Cave In's Jupiter for a while, A Man Exits and finding out Matt Talbott did the vocals for Escape Pod for Intangibles hooked me in hard, and now I've listened to it all the way through more times than You'd Prefer an Astronaut, Downward is Heavenward, or Jupiter, seriously I'd give you guys my damn left arm to be able to find a vinyl copy of this album to buy lol
such a great album such a great band that I really miss, Andromeda is one of my fav songs from Hopesfall, I wish i could watch more material like this, maybe something from A types
@11rfpro Yeah. That's Matt Talbott. He produced the album. I think Ryan and Josh were/are HUGE HUM fans and it's pretty obvious on this album...lots of HUM-like characteristics. Basically..this is almost like a hardcore HUM album....another cool thing is "The Canon" on Magnetic North is an homeage to HUM's "Little Dipper"
I bet they wouldn't wear those trustkill shirts I saw anymore. Absolutely fucking loved this record. Love seeing the gear these guys used to make it happen too.
I come back to this video sometimes. One of my favorite albums of all time.
Astronaut-core. That's what I always referred it as...simply because I always feel like the loneliest astronaut ever. I love this band.
Astronaut core, I like that.
"I left the horizon, curled up and frozen still, the tilting of the hourglass and all this time to kill."
Beautiful lyrics.
Thanks to a game of Goldeneye(N64), they made a masterpiece. 😂👍
10 years later, this album still grabs me every single time. It sounds nerdy but this album brings tears to my eyes sometimes from pure awesome nostalgia.
No wings to speak of even a bit more for me, tears too
@@christiandulac9890 same and so much same
High school days in a nut shell..
20 years later, fuck we are old
@@TheAlexmynameis have a feeling this kind of music will make a big comeback
I feel incredibly sad watching this video because it's such a sincere capsule of a time and era that will never come back in this lifetime. I'm so glad I am old enough to remember how life felt back then even though I was only a young adolescent.
I feel the same thing, even though I was only 5 months old at the time of this recording, the feeling is unexplainable
AMAZING cd. This is how music should be made. I miss this band and this style...nobody plays melodic hardcore like this.
Matt Talbott and Hopesfall was an incredible combination. Satellite Years will always have a place in my heart.
Great memories. Especially Tremont Music Hall. To this day I always thought Jay with short hair reminded me of Dale Jr. And the "astronaut-core" comment is perfect. The artwork is so perfectly matched to the sound. A fantastic union.

satellite years is a MASTER PIECE.
Crazy to see them creating one the most influential records of my younger years. I was 17 when this came out and it carried me through some tough times. Even now, 11 years later I still get the chills when I hear certain parts.
me too brother just rediscovered with all the news around the new album
yo tenía 16 años cuando escuchaba ese disco, HOY lanzaron un nuevo album lo vi en iTunes, y hoy me reencontre con el hace 10 años que lo escuche... tu historia me parecio similar a la mia.
me too bro, and many others.
now its 16 years later, you're twice as old as you were and the world is going to shit... how do you feel now?
Matt from HUM totally chillin in there produced this shit like a mug. HUM rules for all time and the Hopesfalls sound was perfect for him to work with. Awesome..
Oh wow, I had no idea he produced this album! Cool!
18 years today...some shit never gets old!
Hopesfall for life!!!

strong contender for best video on youtube, period.
10 years and not one dislike. Very nostalgic video.

i miss this band so much. so underrated and yet they had some of the best guitar work ive heard
Your drumming has seriously influenced me in such a huge way. Thanks man! Hope you're doing well and life is shining on you.
He’s so fucking good, man. I have never heard a drummer as smooth and clean as him before or since. One of my all-time favorite drummers.
I echo these sentiments. You're drumming was very formative for me and I still get goosebumps listening to this record. Thank you.
Forever a memory I will cherish. Thank you .hopesfall.
one of the best fuckin records of all time

That album is just a master piece. I've listened to it off and on for years and years now.

Really nice footage. I would say the satellite years is an absolute classic. I still listen to it at least once a week.
I remember seeing Hopesfall at Cornerstone festival in 2000 or 2001, and it being the first exposure to anything like that I had ever had. Satellite Years to this day still blows my mind. Thanks so much for sharing the memories.
