The Starship system is a fully reusable, two‑stage‑to‑orbit super heavy‑lift launch vehicle under development by SpaceX. The system is composed of a booster stage named Super Heavy and a second stage, also called "Starship"

Inflatable habitats for space have been tested for decades. In fact, there is an inflatable attached to the ISS and has been for years now
Yes but Elon wants to re-invent again...
Wow! Holidays in space. So we could be part of the 250-mile high club. Yippee.
OMG. Come on! This technology (with 2 free-flying satellites and one ISS module) harks back to the very early days of the ISS, when NASA was working on the inflatable "TransHab" module, which was intended to be a module to travel to Mars in, and it was going to be attached to the ISS for testing.
But the TransHab project was cancelled, and the technology was taken up by Bigelow Aerospace (now defunct) who created a mockup of the BA-330, with 330 cubic metres of internal volume.
It's Bigelow who built all three inflatable items now in space. Just recently Sierra Space has demonstrated over-pressure destruction of their module. It hit 170% of it's maximum pressure before failing.
Hi Will,
I really enjoy your space updates as always. I just have one small correction for you. The Genesis 1 and 2 inflatable orbital test space station modules were built by Bigelow Aerospace. Anyways, I hope you have a great weekend.
Thanks,
Marc K
Berth and Breakfast!
So if Disney does a space destination would they make it blow up to the shape of Mickey Mouse?
I've watch 3 of your videos in a row. WOW!
Science fiction movies becoming reality. Maybe we could make a space prison for all the hard core crims of the world and put them in a orbit towards the sun
They could be used as a Space Garden. Using either Aquaponics (growing fish & using waste water as fertilizer to grow plants), or Hydroponics.
Excellent stuff bro
I think as Starship reaches orbital reliability, the next space stations and bases will be ~100x times bigger than now. Get more of these inflatable habitats up there.
That will be soooo cool! Thank you, Wil.
This would be such a cool idea. With them being inflatable you could make these NY shape or size and still use the SpaceX rockets for everything. These (like you said) would also be used for on the surface of planets.
Interesting as usual!
Can you do a video abous boosters?
I mean, for exampele in Star wars you can se some of them use boosters to make the trip to Hyperspace and then detache from it and reuse it later, maby that is something we can have to travel faster from A to B ?
Then we dont need to "carry" with us all the weight everywhere and save both weight and money..
In space, nothing 'floats', it is a vacuum. It orbits, at orbital velocity, requiring energy proportional to the mass of the object to be placed in orbit, E = m*v^2.
i am thinking about new sports in 0 G
Like the beard!
Thanks!
Thank you for the support!
They envision their inflatable habitats being used on the surface of the moon and Mars but my thought is that such a use for any duration would have to be paired with a thick layer of regolith for thermal and radiation protection.
Overall quality of life
Optical fibers manufacturing can easily pay for one of those
- raw materials up in a starship
- production inside a module
- products & waste back home on a starship
Gravity isn't an issue. If they are at the height of the ISS, they are going to have a horrible ballistic coefficient and will have to constantly fire engines to keep it up
Why no information about the space station, what is it like ,no info about the modules in orbit. Didn't find the content interesting.
Everything so easy in CGI until it collides with reality and real cost.
There is video of them being deployed during on Earth testing……
Another vapour ware dream just like starship.....
When is space tourism going to be less than 50k per person?
When is that first OLED TV going to be less than 50k per person? It takes time but it will be.
Thanks for the update, let's just hope that this one comes to fruition.
I would like to see some advanced Medical Research just to silence the naysayers.
Lol already priced the cost. For a billion dollars a full mars complex can be built.
Maybe Starship should make an orbit without exploding first. That ship doesn't have very long to live... It won't go anywhere.
I have been saying there should be various elements that make color streams. Like fireworks each launch.
@@TheMoneypresidentWell they have the green when the engine eats itself...
Note that falcon 1 failed three times before finally getting to orbit. Since then falcon nine had two launch failures early on. Since then, falcon’s record speaks for itself. SpaceX iterative development program is more efficient than what Boeing is doing with SLS.
@@khut2uIterative developement is just a cute way of saying improvisation...
@@khut2u apples and oranges.
Every rocket company on Earth is at least a decade behind SpaceX. Most rockets are two or three decades behind. Companies had better start innovating or working on space stations or ground habitats. SpaceX already charges 10 times less to launch something into orbit. The Starship will lower costs even more.
I'm done with your channel, Wil. I used to follow you pretty closely, but you've been going downhill for a couple of years. This post crossed the line for me. I'm done.
