2012年11月6日下午14时，湄公河中国船员遇害案在昆明一审公开宣判，公诉机关指控六名被告人涉嫌故意杀人、运输毒品、绑架、劫持船只等罪名。法院指控罪名成立，糯康、桑康、依莱、扎西卡一审被判死刑，扎波被一审判处死缓，扎拖波被判处有期徒刑。

While it's a little to Extreme for me. 20 years in Jail seems fitting. We here in the States need to find a way for our inmates to work while locked up to pay for the cost of their incarceration. I believe in tougher Laws not weaker. We wouldn't have near the Crime we do if we stopped coddling our Criminals.
Locking a drug USER up is just stupid, all they are doing is hurting themselves. More people imprisoned in america than any other country. Yes, he could dry out, but many of them WANT to dry out if they could. They can do that in treatment, maybe some kind of confinded treatment, but they are probably going to get right back o them. Addiction is a horrible horrible thing. I don't like calling it a disease, but it is scourge for sure. NOW the dealers, different story but they ALSO can't be thrown all under 1 umbrella. I have known plenty of people who sold their script in order to try and survive and get an extra few hundred each month. These many are your neighbors, and MANY are little grandma's whether you want to believe it or not. What do we do with them? Of course something, but they do't have any money to begin with, and they already can't survive. It is complicated. but to keep throwing everybody in jail does nothing.
