  • Western Heritage Furniture's latest creation is an expanding round table built for Connie Sondeno in Wyoming. This is a custom, one of a kind expanding round table with 8 "pie" shaped pieces that hide 8 leaves underneath to expand from 70" in diameter to 85" in diameter.
    Western Heritage Furniture builds extraordinary reclaimed wood furniture from the salvaged wood of old barns, buildings and other American structures, originally constructed from old growth timber more than a century ago. Maintaining a "green" ideal since 1991 when we first started making furniture from recycled logs salvaged from slash-and-burn piles in the Pacific Northwest. Over the years we have grown to be one of America's premiere furniture builders by striving to be extraordinary in everything we do.

    This was perfect as a vanity desk for me. ruclips.net/user/postUgkxMAlHv7-BBWMrPRm5-uEoD6rtdT7SG2Qr Especially the glossy finish. Easy to cleanI was looking for something that wasn't the traditional white and with more of a modern feel. This fit the bill beautifully. I put it together with no problems, by myself in under an hour.Make sure you double check where you place the drawer tracks before screwing down. I had one track that needed to be aligned with different holes than the rest.

    Impressive! Though the Fletcher Capstan table makes this seem tedious :/

      This table probably doesn't cost 70,000$ either xD

      JgHaverty Nope. It does not. But we also like the Capstan version.

      ***** Theres nothing to not love about the capstan version! haha.
      This table is also great though, its more rustic and a different style all together. I would love to see this done with more premium hardwoods though, perhaps some exotics :) or figured american woods. Bookmatching a burl walnut for the leaves and giving it all a curly maple trim... mmmm

      JgHaverty That is the only thing you can think of to try and slate the Fletcher Capstan. You just got to have a go at something not American. Every fucking time one of you does it. It just belittles the efforts of people like WHF when you can't praise them for being craftsmen but just because they are American. Jeez.

    NIce. Not to belittle the work that went into this, but there is another similar table (DB Fletcher Capstan Ilona expanding table) that expands and locks into place simple by turning it. The whole thing sets up in about 6 seconds, as opposed to spin, pull, spin, pull, spin, lock... Although I imagine this one would cost much less.
    Again, very nice, but there are others that function better.

    This would be killer as an outdoor type of table for Family gathering Poker Games.... of course the hardware/mechanism would have to be neoprene or something of the like to deal with weather & temperature changes.

    The DB Fletcher Capstan is on youtube since 2006.
    I'm not sure how if compares price-wise though.

    Lovely table. Nice work.
    But you know this concept has been around for 100 or more years, right?
    There are also more - automatic versions.
    Just saying.

    @Arnabas315
    Agreed, I saw the same capstan table in which the whole thing is done automatically in one simple twist. I will say the expanded look is much nicer on this table, but it is too much time to do the same thing.

    CNC or hand made ?

    • @WesternHeritageFurniture
      @WesternHeritageFurniture  10 лет назад +1

      Dominic Fritsche Hand made in every respect - from the dismantling of the barn, to the entire construction of the table. We don't even own a CNC machine =)

    It is distracting to make claims that this "one of a kind unique piece" came from the best minds at WH, no doubt that it is a GREAT interpretation, but the actual design is based on Jupe's design from 1830. I LOVE your work, but you need to check the integrity of your claims. It is okay to re-imagine designs, very little is "new' in this world, just give credit where it is due.
