The endless tasks of Finnish winter

- I finally feel like I'm getting the hang of a weekly upload schedule. Still experimenting with the length of the video but I think 10-15min is pretty good. Thoughts?
This video was just a few ordinary days in my life in the Finnish countryside, hope you enjoyed spending them with me.

So lovely! I make RUclips videos in a similar spirit as you and after over a year of living and traveling full time, I've gotten settled in a little valley surrounded by mountains for the winter in a little tiny home where I have to do a lot of similar tasks and this is why I absolutely love winter and love living close to nature - these kinds of things are so fulfilling in a way that is hard to describe. Love seeing your journey! Keep going - sending love from my little corner of the world to yours
I enjoy your content so much. The scenery, your voice, your animals…such a joyful thing to see your happy galloping dogs.❤😊
These winter tasks in a fresh air and with your beloved dogs around are way better than a fitness club subscription :-) ... You seem to be in peace and that's priceless ... Thanks for sharing.
Very similar situation for me. I live at 6840 feet in the southern Sierra Nevada of California. I'm completely off-grid. Both my wood stoves have metal baskets to catch ashes. I just slide them out and dump them outside. BTW, it's snowing at this time.
The woods are lovely 🩵
I hope your winter passes fast, I know how tiring it can be. 😊
Lovely scenery! It is nice when the light tells you that spring is on the way. 🥰
the all black puppy is the Best helper when you shovel snow.
Yes he is! 😂
Last winter was my first winter in my new(old) house far out in the countryside, and it was my first winter heating with firewood. I quickly learned how long embers can keep going inside a pile of ashes, so even though nothing happened I will never put ashes in the trash again. I started digging it down under snow like you do here, because there's just no point taking any chances.
That being said I personally feel it's too much work heating an old house with only wood, and I also have to purchase the wood as well, so there's sadly little gain for me personally. I decided to get a heatpump and heat my house only by electricity. My electric bill is the same as last winter, and as I do not have to purchase any wood, that means I'm saving money already.
I also felt I became very tired of very hot and dry air, so I like a more stabile temperature inside as well as not having to deal with too dry air.
It is a bit sad as well because I've always loved fires, but having it as a primary thing in a home became too much for me. My main stove is having some issues, so it was when I was considering if I had to buy a new stove that I just decided to cancel that completely and jump on a heatpump instead.
A good mix of old and new suit me better while I sit here in my house from 1947 and drink my morning coffee while I look out into a national park I live next to.
100% agree with you! I have two heatpumps and use atleast one to keep a comfortable base-temperature in the house so I don't have to wake up to or come home to an ice cold house. It's a good safety-net to fall back on when you're alone and for example get sick. Not super fun to haul in firewood when you have covid. 😝
It’s good that you have the money to give up a wood-burning stove in favor of a heat pump!
@@alexboss4260 You did not read this part:
*_.... My main stove is having some issues, so it was when I was considering if I had to buy a new stove that I just decided to cancel that completely and jump on a heatpump instead..._*
Woodstoves cost alot too so for me the choice was easy. It's going to be cheaper, more convenient and feel better overall. I do love fires, but it's impractical to be 100% dependant on it for a home.
A last note for consideration is that having or not having money is a choice. If we do not have money for something right this very second only means we have to save up for it. A good example of that is that I could not afford a snowblower this winter, so my goal is to get one for the next one. For me the heatpump was more important, so I got that first.
Priorities...
↟↟It's the same here in Karjala... daily routine.. firewood-snow.. snow-firewood.. water from the well.. one solid variety:)🤔
Same here, in New Hampshire, in the US. Firewood, snow removal and pumping water into an interior tank. (We are totally off-grid).
Nice to switch it up a bit with hauling some water. 😝 I get my water indoors so I switch it up by carrying water out to the chicken coop. 🤷
The scenery is stunning.❤
Hello good time
You have a beautiful channel, the shots of your videos are very thoughtfully arranged, congratulations on your high skills
The stage design, editing and composition are admirable
I am a new subscriber
Good luck, dear colleague
great video thank you, 11:40 loved final scene so cozy looks so peaceful, life is good
I know how you feel I have had frozen pipes for the last week washing out of a pan on my stove
I took my tree out yesterday also. Hope you find that boot!
I like your videos very much, would you be able to create one explaining why the fire/ wood burner that you have is so big? I have seen this kind of "cooker" in videos from other countries, they are used for cooking on top and sometimes people sit on the high surface . Why the shape and size?
Thank you very much.
Wood heat is lovely with warmth….but messy, ashes and more ashes. Are you F or C for temperatures? The snow on the trees is so beautiful❄️
Yeah it's almost a full time job with making firewood and cleaning up after. 😅🥵 We use celcius for temperatures here.
10-15min video posts are perfect! maybe once in a while compose a longer one, for a specific topic/project. Stay warm!
Same same here in the New England hills 🪵❄️☃️🖌️🐶🙂
Your daily life is busy. You dogs are beautiful and your rabbit
I’m new! Hello from Kentucky USA where we,too, are currently in a rare (for us) deep freeze.
At least it is nice light powder snow!! Could be heavy wet coastal cement!
Oh for sure, that's what we've had this week. Lucky most of it melted on it's own. 😝
I do not know how far north you are so I was wondering what time of day it was, when you were outside filming, and the sun was shining through the trees (so beautifully!), somewhat above the horizon. Perhaps it was sometimes between 10AM and 2PM?
Good guess, I think it was around 2PM. Luckily the days are slowly getting a bit longer now.
@@camillafjader Our latitude is 43 degrees so we never "lose" the sun. Nevertheless, within a few weeks after the solstice the lengthening of the daylight is quite noticeable.
Lovely video. Where about are you located? I’m not asking for an address but are you near Helsinki or on the Arctic Circle?
Thank you! I am in the southern part of Finland. ☺️
you need to have reacharageble vest that has lights so you are able to see around you in the dark forest,,
Where is your snow mobile,, ?
Где это такая красота 😊😊😊❤❤

Do you know how to fish and hunt ?
beautiful art work ...
I have been fishing my whole life, no hunting though.
many lakes in Finland has mostly Bass or Pikes as their best fish. Many rivers do not have enough migrations of Salmonas they used to have.💎💎💎@@camillafjader
