  • NaviLens wants to make cities smarter and more inclusive by empowering visually impaired people with the NaviLens code, a cutting-edge technology based on a proprietary computer vision algorithm. NaviLens was created to replicate the usual concept of using the camera of any mobile phone to read signage information for a visually impaired user. The technology is much more powerful than a QR code. It can be detected from a long distance at a stunning angle via the camera, and it is not necessary to focus the image. Using AI, the information is interpreted and transmitted to the user with the necessary accurate information for autonomous guidance.

Europe’s 15 best social entrepreneurs took the virtual stage to present their projects to a jury of social innovation specialists and competed for €150 000 in prizes at the 9th Edition of the Social Innovation Tournament (SIT). The SIT is organised by the EIB Institute to reward and sponsor European entrepreneurs whose primary purpose is to generate a social, ethical or environmental impact. In 2020, the Special Category Prizes went to projects focusing on the environment (with a special emphasis on biodiversity and ecosystem conservation).
