Best Pizza in Rome, Italy Travel Food Video Transcript:
Well guys this is an exciting day because today's video is all about pizza. We've been in Rome for a few days now and we have saved the best for last. We're going to be eat at place called Antico Forno Roscioli (Marco Roscioli Il Forno).
This is a bakery and pizzeria that has been around forever. Yeah. It is a bit of an institution here. Early 19th century. It is like 11 in the morning so a bit early for lunch but I'm hoping they already have a few pizzas ready. Exactly. We're going to go in and eat pizza.
We are starting with our first batch of pizza and they had three different kinds ready. So we have mozzarella. Rossa which just means red. And pizza bianca. Which is just plain. This is all about the bread and the texture of the bread.
Oh my gosh it all looks so good. And apparently we have more pizza coming out of the oven in 3 minutes.
I love it. It is just a little bit of tomato sauce and then you have the pieces of mozzarella. A little bit of olive oil drizzled on top.
This is amazing. It is not just a pizzeria. It is a bakery.
Pumpy is going to be trying pumpkin pizza so let's try that.
Were you just given a complimentary pizza. Yes, probably because we're buying so much pizza. Oh my gosh. This is pizza bianca with mortadella.
Lots of pumpkin? Look at that. Smothered in pumpkin. Is it kind of a sweet pizza or? Oh yeah. It is really juicy too.
The last two ones to try. Mine is black cabbage. Yes. It has going to have a smoky flavor. That is what the guy told us. You can tell it is really crispy. And a little bitter he said.
And Dad you're having what? Broccoli and pork sausage. Cheers. Let's do a pizza cheers.
Alright we've had our pizza. We are stuffed beyond belief. We actually had the master plan of going to get gelato right after. We're like no. We've got to delay that.
And that fed a whole family - the 4 of us. It only came to 31 Euros. I thought that was fantastic value. It was less than 8 Euros per person. And we pigged out. There is no other way to put it.
We're going to be going to a famous gelato spot next. And now gelato. We are at Giolitti. Sam's parents have already gone inside so we're going to follow suit and see what flavors are available. The boys and their ice creams.

My very first pizza was in Rome , '68 , a simple round of pizza bread , probably 8" in diameter , just smeared with tomato sauce , a simple basil leaf and half olive on top , from first bite I knew I would have to have this in my life. dad even allowed me to have a small glass of wine with it , just on the sidewalk , nothing fancy , I was in my 16th year ... My sons now scoff at me , "oh the first pizza Dad had was in Rome .. spoiled little brat " , it was just good fortune, not good management .... we are not and never were rich , just right place at the right time with a father who was adventurous and wanted to have his family experience the world ... Ya gotta love that

The best Pizza in Rome is at "Pizza Forum" near the Colosseo. We´ve tried around 20x different restaurants but this is the best. By the way, i´m pretty sure that it´s an older video.

We went to Forno Roscioli and we saw the guy in your video and I was star struck! 😆 everyone was so nice and the pizza and pastries were delicious! We didn’t go to Giolitti but we went to Frigidarium and it was easily the best gelato I’ve ever had.

I remember on a visit to a hole in the wall place in Venice (which is the best pizza I ever had in my life) a customer who has been to North America many times said the only fast food chain that was close to real pizza is Pizza Hut. Note that was in 2001.

This place in Rome I am sure is touristy but likely popular amongst locals. Really enjoyed this place! Best pizza we had was in Rome compared to all the other cities we visited in Italy.

Italian food usually tastes better with a salad. I remember eating pizza at a restaurant owned by Italian immigrants. It was the Italian Village in Kingsport, Tennessee. That's in the United States. That pizza was delicious. Just because a pizza was made by an Italian immigrant doesn't mean it's going to be delicious. I remember eating pizza in a mall. The woman who made the pizza was Italian. The pizza was very bland. The same is true for Mexican food. Sometimes the food won't have much flavor even if the chef is Mexican. Italians usually put tomato sauce on pizzas. Alfredo sauce is good too. I've eaten lasagna made with ricotta cheese and Alfredo sauce.
I definitely agree with you. I've had some bad bad food from locals making it.
Some people were complaining about the food in Italy. Tourists shouldn't assume all those local people in Italy are trained chefs. You definitely need to try lasagna made with ricotta cheese, spinach, and Alfredo sauce sometime. That was the best lasagna I've ever eaten. I'm not crazy about lasagna made with tomato sauce. I'm not sure if you have ever eaten pizza in Naples, Italy. Rick Steves said pizza was invented in Naples.

You can't compare Kulfi and Gelato. They give you different sensations as any of them is a different thing, like compare a fish dish with a chicken dish.
Gelato is frozen ice crystals with different flavours including cold custard milk and/or syrups.
Kulfi is a spicy milk custard made boiling milk, thicken it, and that in the end it is eaten frozen.
The closest idea it is like freezing Chantilly Custard or eating a frozen Tiramisù...
And not even close taste because custard in Tiramisù is just zabaione whipped egg yolk with sugar not even a custard.

My wife and I were in Rome in Nov of 08,I don’t know the name of the restaurant but the pizza was very runny and had very little cheese and lots of tomatoes,didn’t enjoy at all as a matter of fact I ordered something else.I was told that that’s the way pizza is in Rome and that the pizza we in America are used to can be found in Sicily, obviously I was told wrong🤔.

Sorry, mate, don't know where are you from, but in Rome THAT is "PIZZA". It's called "pizza al taglio" and you usually get it at bakeries or at specific places that sell just that kind of pizza ("pizzeria al taglio") or at diners ("tavola calda"). The classic rounded pizza is called "pizza al piatto" and you can eat it just at restaurants and pizzerias where you have to sit down at a table. "Focaccia" in Rome means another kind of food altogether: it's kind of a thick, soft slab of bread that you get at bakeries only. It's not a typical Roman food, we "imported" it from Genova and the Northern Italy in general.
Claudia Manfredini I'm from Naples, i don't want to make a discussion just for a name but i've talked to apulian and romans and they seems to call the pizzas "focaccia" because of the thickness and crispyness.

THE TASTE MAKE ME VOMIT
Nonoctoro Warning! You may have tasted wrong olive oil. Many olive oils sold abroad Italy are too much often are not EXTRA-VIRGIN rank and are made with a blend of European and African cheap olive qualities. Many olive oils in US are made with Olive pomace, that is the remaining paste of olives pressed again. Also if you have a very delicate tongue I advice you to avoid Southern Italy Olive Oil qualities that have very strong flavour and intense spicy smell, very robust on mouth palate, that can disgust people who are not experienced with olive oil.
Before giving up once and for all, check a last time for Liguria Extra Virgin Light Olive Oil qualities. They are truly expensive but very smooth and delicate. If even Liguria Olive Oil will disgust you then it will be a matter of your personal experience preference taste and you can do nothing about it. At least it is how you are.
Check on Google and/or Amazon for purchasing Liguria made oil and delicate sweet quality ones. 🤔
