- Why is there a bust of Simón Bolívar in Bedford Square? Join us today as we tackle this question by looking into the history of the neighborhood of Guilford and the life of Bolívar, often called the George Washington of South America. And we are delighted to be joined by UMBC graduate student, Aimée Pohl, to share her research on the statue! Thanks for watching and we’ll see you later this week.

Thank you very much for doing such a great research and this wonderful video. As a Venezuelan citizen and Baltimore City resident I’m very happy about the connection and friendship of the US and Venezuela expressed through the recognition of a great man like Simon Bolivar “The Liberator”
LOVE hearing about monuments in Baltimore-statues we pass by every day, but know so little about. More of that, please!
Fascinating; this whole series is turning me more and more into a history buff!
Happy Travels! Rick Steves, could do NO better. Keep up the good work!🙂.
Fascinating!I hope you find the answer.
