When using a open fire to cook with you might want to try one of the Bushcraft Grills. It's 9. 5/8 inches long and 4. 7/8 inches wide with half inch spacing. Bushcraft says it is 9 x 5 . It's a woven stainless steel grill which includes a stuff sack for a total weight of 4.86 ounces or 138 grams. The cost on Amazon is $13.57. Plus it can be used to grill a steak , sausages , chops or any meat you want to grill over a open fire or hot coals while camping. It works well with a small trench fire. It has a lot of uses including a temporary support for a frame less pack. If the stuff sack wears out ( Mine hasn't , yet ) you can get a replacement one for less the $5.00.
hi guys new sub here ...i've seen a couple of you canteen tuesday episode and i lol believe it or not...i still have my canteen and cup in it's origiinal pouch and boonie hat from my tour in south east asia....the boonie is still usable...the canteen maybe not it's funky smelling lol....but i just wanted to say this series is very cool thz for sharing cheers
Bryan Outside Thanks for your subscription! I hope you enjoy my other videos and the videos that others have shared. There is a lot of different canteen cup recipes and other camp cooking videos that people have made that will keep you busy for a while. They will make you hungry too! If you have any questions, please leave me a comment and I will try my best to answer. I try to answer everyone if I can. Thanks for watching and for your comment!
You're making me hungry. We've got to do a crossover episode one day. You make chicken and dumplings and I'll talk about a movie that everyone should see.
I agree. It would have been easier but it was Canteen Cup Tuesday! :) And you have to be careful with the cans that have that coating on the inside. But, I'm not sure if the soup can in the video had the coating or not. Lol. Thanks for watching and for your comment!
tracker 584 Lol. My brother in law is not much for cooking fancy on the trail but he does come up with some good ideas. Thanks for watching another one!
Could you have used the broth you poured out, in the mix instead of water? Why don't you lock the cup handles? Also I use the cup a soup packets. One packet per cup of water.
awesome you guys! P51 ?.....is nothing sacred?....LOL...when i was coming up it was the P38...we all were issued C-rats in those days. i luv chicken n dumplings...shirt sleeves?...sitting here its -7 degrees f outside right now, so cold even the Elk are complaining and you guys are walking around in shirt sleeves!....it ain't right i tell ya!!!....lol another good one John
Lol! I'm glad you enjoyed it. In Florida we only have two seasons, HOT and warm! Just remember when summer comes you will see me drenched in sweat trying to cook in the woods and swatting at mosquitoes! You can get me back then with your beautiful weather. I enjoy the P51 a little better than the P38. It's a little larger and better for my hands. But either will work! Thanks for watching another video and for your comment!
We always called the smaller opener the P-38 and the larger opener the P-51. I really envy you guys!! Doing it right!!! Canteen Cup Tuesdays are tthe best!
Yes. I have both the p-38 and p-51. The one in the video is the 51. Thanks for watching. I'm glad you enjoy what we are doing on here. This Canteen Cup Tuesday thing has really grown from Floridaboy's channel. I still run across videos and channels that I have never seen participating. Don't envy us, join us! Grab a canteen cup of some sort and cook up something. It can be made inside or outside. It doesn't matter!
Yes I know a lot more about the set than I did when I made the video thanks to all of you. The only question I still have is did the Belgian Army issue these Dutch canteens with their sets or were these canteens and covers put together by surplus dealers to be sold to the public.
They where put together John. The Original Belgian canteen must have in French and in Dutch language the warning "do not heat". this is a link with the Belgian canteen ; www.militarycollectibles4u.nl/a-39719332/uitrusting-overig/belgische-leger-veldfles-met-camouflage-hoes-origineel/
Ok. There is no doubt that my canteen is Dutch and paired with a Belgian cover and cup. But what about the canteens that have only "Do Not Heat" in Dutch and below it has MVD and the year of manufacture?
MVD stands for Ministerie Van Defensie of Ministry of Defense. the production date is common to have 2 figures ,for example 95 is 1995 and 00 is 2000. those are Dutch canteens, the mix up is not strange because The Netherlands and Belgium are neighbour country's and in Belgium the Belgian people speak Dutch or French.
Thank you very much for your information. If I decide to find the right canteen for my set, I know what to look for now. I bet a lot of others reading your comments will learn something too!
Polk County here. Ive done some day outings at parks around here in central Florida doing the same thing. I enjoy your videos.
Definitely an improvement over our usual Dollar Tree tuna snacks. We hike GSW, too.
That looks like it worked out pretty good. Definitely going to try that one. Thanks for sharing and thanks for the video.
I love camping and hiking in the green swamp!
One of my favorites too! Thanks for watching.

My father told me they used to make a brownie with the canteen cup by using coco mix and chiclets gum.

I would have drained the chicken before adding it to the soup, That may have been enough to leave the room you needed to add the rest.
😲😳😲😳
Just keep the cheese yuk soup in the can and heat it .then ya don't have cheescrete in the cup to try and clean out .
Good vid.
