More car shows should be like this, I mean its just brilliant having all these iconic and brand new cars shown to the public being driven as close to their potential as goodwood will allow, this is absolutely a dream vacation sometime in the future.
Maybe if you go all four days it's kinda pricey, but I went this year on the Sunday and paid £70 per ticket, kids were free. It's not that bad given that gates open pretty early so you get a genuine full day there.
I really hope that Polestar concept goes to production. It looks great, and they are already making very good cars. I think I am becoming a Polestar fanboy 🤔

The czinger was interesting.. I'm an additive manufacturing engineer (3D printing guy). I noticed the heat shield for the exhaust is clearly 3D printed (either titanium or Inconel); however there is quite a bit of support structure left on the part in random spots, which is definitely odd to see that they didn't remove all of those bits from the diamond holes. 10:38 you can see what I mean. The part wasn't really optimized for ideal 3D printing, but whoever they contracted to print the part did a poor job with the support material generation, so it's possible the support structure left over is fused to the part. Interesting non the less!

It's not ment for production more a technology showcase, however if memory serves me right it is a 100kWh battery which is same size as in a Tesla model S/X or production Mercedes EQS so this is a very efficient car, just smacking in a bigger battery would have been kind of cheating :), so charge time ofc as with all EVs are not linear and usually charging from 10 to 80% is done within 30 min or less but a full charge is probably around 1 hour I would assume, notice 'assume' - I don't know this specific car since it's built to showcase tech in aero, weight and efficiency it may well be that Mercedes have not even cared to make it take fast charging at all but all things else being equal it kind of proves that the technology for a super long range ev is achievable if you focus more on efficiency which is kind of cool and it also looks so much better than the production eq cars 🙃
Ooff, that Zinger is certainly design intensive. A bit polarizing to say the least. PS those 3D printed parts are not technically AI. It’s called Topology Optimization (in Ansys anyway). You digitally run a simulation with loads/constraints, and the designer tells the computer to remove material where not needed based on the results. It is still heavily user input based. The engineer better have nailed the simulation (and bench tested), or those things will crumble.
Looks more like generative design to me - give the computer the fixed points (mounting points, clearance for other items, etc) load specs, manufacturing method (printed/printed for casting/five axis machined/multiple setups allowable) and such, and it comes up with ideal structures based on that. Matches up perfectly with metal 3d printing for making crazy designs that you wouldn't or couldn't come up with other wisely. There's a pretty good breakdown of the difference on autodesk's site (Topology Optimization is not Generative Design), as well as one a bit more in depth on PTC (Myth Dispelled: Topology Optimization Is Not True Generative Design). TL;DR - similar but different

But it returned my faith in humanity when I heard V12's are still roaring alive and well.. If you were given a choice and told you could have ONE of the cars at Goodwood for free, which one would it be? That would be a tough decision, there are so many unbelievable cars there and so many ultra-rare masterpieces.

The older cars aero generally speaking wasn’t better, but because they had less safety features and ecological restrictions, they are often way lighter and therefore sometimes still can keep up with the modern ones.
