Today is the Eighteenth Sunday in ordinary time and in the Gospel, Jesus tells his followers, “I am the bread of life. Whoever comes to me will never hunger, and whoever believes in me will never thirst.”
Friends, Jesus's remark is aimed at teaching his followers to look at the signs that he has been making, like the feeding of the 5000 beyond its surface.
In following Jesus, what we should aspire to receive is not the food that perishes, but the food that endures for eternal life. This food that endures for eternal life is Jesus Himself. And we could partake of it through the sacrament of the Holy Eucharist. When we open ourselves to the nourishment that comes from the proclamation of His Word, when we consume his body and blood, which is our communion with him.
Let us come to Jesus, brothers and sisters, with desire, with longing, with appetite for Him who is the bread of God which comes down from heaven and gives life to the world?

Lord Jesus Christ, you are the true Bread of Heaven. Only you alone can truly satisfy the deepest longing and hunger of our hearts. Nourish us with the bread of life that we may be truly satisfied in you alone as the giver of life. Amen.
Two thousand years or so after Christ, people still eat the bread without knowing the sign.

Dear God Our Father in Heaven, we thank you that we may be your children. We thank you for giving us your Spirit so that we may truly be your children. Gather us into community with you so that our minds and hearts and all that is in us may realize what joy can come to us through your gifts. Though the world today is in turmoil, in doubt, lost in material things, grant us inner quiet to receive from you the power of faith. For through faith we can learn to know what you are and what you will be to all humankind one day, through Jesus Christ the Lord. Amen.

This gospel is teaching mankind not to be anxious about food rather to be anxious about following Jesus as what Mary did during Jesus' visit to the sisters Martha and Mary
The word was God. Lamentably the word was thwarted by man's passion to showcase talents, wisdom and learnings

This gospel is a command to change ones anxiety. Christians must change their anxiety for things that merely perishes on earth as did Martha
What is needed in the world to make people,young and old, observe the commandment they hear when they participate in the holy eucharist is a change in anxiety.People nowadays are doing a Martha, anxious about many thing.Anxiety for things of this world makes the holy words of God a demon as what Duterte did to the word of the original sin
What is the sign that people who eat the miraculous bread did not see? The sign referred to by the lord is " to follow Him will bear full satisfaction and fulfillment of ones needs with extra left.

This gospel should make christians answer the question "Are you over anxious of getting high position or getting much property for happiness?"
This gospel is the most impossible commandment for man to observe but impossible things will be done unto anyone who finds favor with God as what happened to Mother Mary
A change in appetite is very much the same as Cleopas understanding of Jesus Christ's passion and death on the cross which make Jesus exclaimed " how foolish you are" then Jesus interpreted the word of God to them beginning in Moses and afterwards performed the breaking of the bread.
I can accept the exclamation to me by the world if the world will say "Oh how foolish you are."
The word incarnate is the bread of life.Eating the bread without eating the word in the banquet of the lord is no different from eating manna and died.How did they die after eating the manna. The answer is they are dead in the kingdom of God on earth as it is in heaven
