ah have always loved 'Doris Duke' who first recorded under the name Doris Willingham, i first heard 'woman of the ghetto'in '75 ,the full 7min version is on her 'Woman' Lp from 1975. and it was ahead of it's time. i like both Marlena Shaw's original version (she wrote it) and Doris Duke's version the same, they are both very different, i would say Doris is soul and Marlena is jazz. I also have Doris's other two albums: 'i'm a loser' and 'a legend in her own time' they are all classics and a must for soul music collectors.i've had my copies for about 45+ years and have played them to death!

It's about treating individuals like faceless irrelevants due to their race; so indifference to their suffering becomes acceptable.

Is she talking about the Auchowitz Jewish Ghetto or the American Black Ghetto?
They're both by sick bigot design.
I thought that Ghetto was first established in Europe for Jews.
