Ukraine should be provided with an enough fighter aircraft to form airforce, such as F-16s and longer-range precision munitions, including ATACMS (more of them, and the longest-range versions should be sent to them)), and the russian military facilities inside of russian territory should be considered legitimate targets. It is worth noting that support for military aid to Ukraine in America is over 80% and increasing. This is because Americans understand that not only is aiding Ukraine the morally right thing to do, it is the practical thing to do also. America has spent something like approximately 6% of our military budget so far to aid Ukraine. However, more than half of the russian army has been destroyed. This is a tremendous bargain by any measure! In addition, when russia is defeated in this war, their barbaric ideology of imperialism will also be defeated, making Europe a much more peaceful and stable place for decades - as well as preventing a new arms race in the region. That is why billions of dollars spent today to aid Ukraine saves trillions of dollars tomorrow. The vast majority of Americans understand this fact. Americans also want Ukrainian military and civilian casualties minimized. This is why Americans are correct to support providing military aid to Ukraine.
Please write to your elected representatives to request this military aid. If you are an American citizen, please consider writing to President Biden and your other elected representatives, and demand Ukraine be given the above weapons - in war-winning quantities, and promptly. The sooner America provides Ukraine the weapons it requires to liberate all of its territory, the sooner this war will be done, and with fewer Ukrainian casualties. Letters can be submitted electronically via the Whitehouse website. One can also conduct a google search for ones' elected representatives - many of which have similar websites. One may simply write and submit a letter electronically to make one's desire known.

A brief history of the confrontation.

I vividly recall Denys being totally confident of the success of the 2023 offensive, as well as the recapture of Bakhmut. Now he views these actions as big mistakes (omitting the fact that there was hardly any other place to attack, especially not with the goal to party in Crimea). Instead Denys is now confident that the Ukrainians will stop the Russian offensives, based on a temporary slow down and pure hope.
I also saw back in 2023 you vatniks boasting that Kyiv would fall in two weeks after Bakmut. No such thing happened. Meanwhile your entire black sea fleet has been made useless. You are also getting your refineries exploded and burned down. You now jave to import gasoline and diesel!! 😅😅😅 So you were saying?

The US has been silent so far on F-16 donations, allowing EU nations to make the first wave of contributions to Ukraine's defense. Note however that the US is currently operating 850 F-16s, and most of those are scheduled for de-activation, since they are being rapidly replaced by F-35s.
Gee, I wonder where a lot of them are going to show up. This leaves aside the thousand+ F-16s in US Boneyards, which will be available to Ukraine as an endless supply of spare parts.

It would take a minimum of 4 years to make a sizeable, effective airforce. It isn't just about planes. They need more mil ready airstrips, fortified hangers, fuel and parts supply chains, and ground crews.

As an American it’s so frustrating to know that over 3,600 F-16 fighter jets have been built there are over 1,100 just sitting shrink wrapped in the Arizona Deser RIGHT NOW and such a small number is going to end up in Ukraine especially because the F-16 is being phased out for the F 35. To be frank America needs to get off its ass and Joe Biden needs to be decisive and declare the Ukraine conflict, a national security threat and take unilateral action and give Ukraine the weapons. From 1:36 I think both Ukraine and America were wrong. The key to this war always has been Crimea. The attack south to Melitopol was unlikely to work because Russians have more experience defending than Ukrainians have in combined arms attacking.
Across the Dnipro it’s different. Russia is at its extreme logistical end there, and can’t build a line in the unfavorable terrain. It is very hard for Russia to use air and missile power in that distant area. Ukraine has shown that Russia can’t defend Crimea. If Russia could defend it, its fleet still would be in Sevastopol, Odessa would be interdicted as a port, and Russian air defenses in Crimea would not be constantly destroyed.
Crimea is the one place Russia can’t fight a cannon fodder war. It also is the most prestigious and strategic territory Russia has occupied. The war is won by isolating and then capturing an isolated Crimea.
Well I guess that is nostalgia now. Ukraine screwed up the offensive by NOT having anything like an element of surprise and they failed to follow the advice of the US in conducting their offensive last year. They could have been successful if (a) Russia had been less prepared for the assault and (b) Ukraine would have used at least 10 divisions of soldiers. Ukraine simply cannot match the Russian army along a 600 mile front with half the troops that Russia has.
In aftermath we all smart. Remember how western media laughed at Surovikin line. Zaluzhny itself telled that Ukraine is not ready for conducting such offensive, but political pressure was too strong.

Even that is wrong. This was a purely civilian plant offering its services to a wide range of local companies. They do not even produce anything, they just coat already produced components from other companies.
Military production lines involve a lot of security and background checks to avoid sabotage and espionage, you can't just use a factory for both like that.

Love your optimism but the current aid package is only good enough to hold the line, and Ukraine is only getting 20-30 F16s. The West is still doing next to nothing to help Ukraine compared to how much we spend on our own defence.

The explanation given for why the No Fly zone idea was rejected is still valid. To establish a no fly zone in Ukraine's recognized borders would mean suppression of Russia's western network of SAM missile sites. This would mean thousands of Russians killed by NATO air strikes, many deep inside Russia proper. Further, destruction of Russia's western air defences would leave its land nuclear arsenal vulnerable.

Denny you have to take into consideration the help from the west too. UK £50M, EU $50M and many more……
EU 50 billion the next couple of years, UK around 10 billion until 2027, Germany most likely will give more than the UK, like they currently do. I think Germany said something, or has, at least, a discussion about 5 billion each year until 2027 or 2028.
If europe would commit 0.5% of their GDP to help Ukraine, it's over 100 billion per year. To compare that to Germany: Germans gave 1.2% of their GDP in 2 years, so 0.6% per year. If all countries in europe would do slightly less than Germany, while countries, that give more of their GDP, don't continue to give that much, Ukraine would get around 115 billion per year from europe alone.
If the US would give just 0.2%, so 1/500 of their GDP, it would be 45 billion more, so 160 billion each year for weapons for Ukraine from europe and the US. With the 60 billion the US gave around 0.45% of their GDP in 2 1/4 years, so they wouldn't have to increase their help, just to commit to it.
In theory the money is there, and the thing is, it wouldn't just help Ukraine to plan, it also would mean huge orders of weapons over years for weapons producers, and that brings the prices down and the efficiency up. If the west would order a few hundred self-propelled howitzers and a few hundred HIMARS per year for 3 or 4 years, they would get them far cheaper, than when single countries just buy tens of them every now and then.
F.e. Rheinmetall said, they could produce, if they get orders. They build 4 new factories, 1 of them would be able to produce 400 new Panther tanks per year, so, if they get orders, Rheinmetall alone could produce enough weapons for Ukraine to win the war, at least tanks, artillery and short range drone defense, like MANTIS.
Also Sweden would be willing to produce Gripens, if they would get the order.
The money is there, the production capacity will be there soon, it's about being willing to commit to helping Ukraine long term, making larger orders, and I really hope, the west finally does this...

I hope you are wrong that $61 billion would only stabilize the front lines. What Sullivan is hinting is that there has to be a counter-attack before more aid will be sent.
Unfortunately he's not wrong. US$61B would have been a big deal 6 months ago, now it just stops the bleeding.
It will just stabilize the frontline, the bigger thing would be 100 billion from NATO, and also long term commitmens. Long term commitmens allow huge orders for weapons, and that brings the price per unit down. It also allows planning.
F.e. ordering 500 HIMARS, 500 self-propelled howitzers and 500 western tanks per year for 4 years could cost just a few tens of billions each year, maybe 30 billon, maybe 50 billion, but it's less than the US gave now, and kerp in mind, europe gave and gives even more to Ukraine than the US. Poland ordered 500 HIMARS for 10 billion, so you see, it wouldn't even be that much money, if it's a huge order, especially compared to what the west could give.
So the 61 billion just will stabilize the frontline, but one main problem is coordination and long term commitmens. Huge orders for years instead of tiny orders every now and then.
The west is slow, but I really hope, they realize, that they are inefficient, and that this is a huge problem, and change that
