So i picked up a set of Airlift front air struts for a Mk1... then i picked up
a set of CKW2's.. Which set did i go with???

i have airlifts on my truck and had to slot the top camber holes. i have ckw2s on my cabby and i can tell you the ride is night and day. the double bellows ride so much better than the sleeved airlift bags.

I’m running airlift as well and can understand what you’re saying. Luckily I still can adjust for more negative camber on the top hat. I think buy raising your top mounts you might’ve went straight up rather than going up and in? I do like having the adjustment of the bag height for optimal ride height at 48 psi. I think there’s more adjustment in the airlift than the ckw2.
There is more adjustment yes but not enough to give you the negative camber you need. I tried different hight settings, slidding the top hat all the way to negative camber and i threw a stock set of ball joints on to try and simulate stock location and nothing worked. The strut to knuckle mounting point is just way to far out.
I talked to several aothers that had the same issue with everything stock. Only way to fix it was to modify the 2 mounting holes moving them closer to the strut. I would have done that if they sold me a second set of that threaded mount but i didnt wanna for warranty purpose.
CKW2 no longer sells these, so it's Airlift with modification or nothing
The Maxload are an option also. People have said they are decent also. But yeah. Modify the Airlift if that’s all you can get

I had the same problem with air lift on my mk1 rabbit. Replaced rear with ckw and should have done front but sold it. Could not get low at all with airlift

I guess airlift stopped selling the builders kits that CKW2 used to make their kit. So they aren’t available at the moment sadly 😢
Do the ball joint extenders help it go a little lower?
It can help yes, it also helps keep the control arms closer to level for more travel.
Where did you order yours? Also is your frame notched? Couldn’t really tell in the video but i have the ckw2 bags too and i had to notch my frame for axle clearance
@@323i00 I picked up the extenders from Noath Precision, I have a video on them or it’s in part of a video.. I plan on notching my axles next, need to roll my fenders also.

I went to the ckw2 website and I can’t fine the ones you went with it looks like they are using the ones that did not work for you. I want to make sure the ones I go with will work.
Airlift stopped selling the "builder series" that CKW2 used to make their own i guess... Kinda sucks because the Airlift ones dont fit the best.. They work but arent right and require modification to work better.
@@PaulLehman so what ones would you go with on the front then I’m going to order the 4 link you used seams like it worked well but not sure on the fronts !
@@gregsgarage1260 depending on the wheels you go with the Airlift will work, If they were the only option i had id get them and modify the holes or have someone do it for me to fix the camber issues. Not many other options out there for front air struts sadly :(

@@gregsgarage1260 hmm I guess the best thing you can do is maybe find a set for sale, or work with the Airlift ones. I'd have to look around and see if anything else is available really. I'd probably just get them and mod them to work.
You need some camberbolts, so you can get more camber
Yeah i'll have to look at getting some for the fronts if needed. The stock bolts have camber adjustment on them, but not a crazy amount.
Silly question any chance you know how much the noath ball joint extenders extend the length or if you have easy access to measure the length from the center of the pinch bolt to the bottom of the plate that pinches in the control arm. Thanks!

Something like center of pinch bolt to either bottom or top of ball joint plate would be awesome! I really appreciate it I'm doing a custom suspension setup and need a somewhat specific size and just want to know if I need to order custom or if his off the shelf will work.

So I have airlift on my mk1 rabbit and I had no issues. But where yours mount on the spindle it seems to look slightly different... very weird
I have raised ball joints so that could be why 🤷🏼♂️
Depending on your wheels could make a big different also but the Airlift made my wheels poke an inch at et25 and 7.5” wheels
Paul,... bmx Dave from laporte, text me , ball has my number, I have a bunch of hose/ fittings and electric switch valves, along with a mini belt drive clutch compressor from my s10, I never used them an no longer have the truck. You can have it all if you can put anything to use. I also have a 2.5 gal 6 port 3/8 tank. Just advise in our area with weather chance, put a water/moisture separation pre tank.
