    I'm excited about AI too. I do think it's still in its infancy at this stage, so in time it's likely to evolve and become even more useful in ways we can't imagine just yet. I've already started using it to 'up-rez' low quality photos and now we're working on a morphing sequence with a series of paintings. I am so happy to leave roto to the robots...

    • @MotionHatch

      Yea I think it has an extremely long way to go... But it's been so amazing seeing people explain how they're using AI in their workflow! This sounds fascinating, and yes - definitely leave roto to the bots! Thanks for your comment!

    I think a point that doesn't get brought up a lot with discussions on AI is client involvement and feedback. Every large company I've worked with wants to be part of the creative process, even if arbitrary because there's an attitude of "we're paying for this, we want a say in it." A person at a large company can't tell an AI exactly what it wants and more so, can't ask the AI to make minuet changes to polish to their standards. AI will face the same limitations in the market as junior artists who can make great things but haven't yet perfected their process. Yes you can get me 80% of the way there, but that last 20% of collaboration and polish is what makes a professional valuable in the first place.

    • @MotionHatch
      @MotionHatch  Год назад

      This is such a valuable and interesting insight! Do you think AI will ever make it to the senior/large company level? At the moment, I think it's very much aimed towards smaller companies/new designers - but what is good is that we can use it when working with the larger companies to help us out, and then make those last 20% changes ourselves as professionals. Thanks so much for your comment!

      @@MotionHatch I think you're very on point Hayley! The biggest hurdle from what I've seen is actually with how the algorithms work. They can produce great images but don't know "what they're looking at" . This is a big part of why doing anything but big brush stroke type revisions with AI algorithms can be so difficult.
      I really wouldn't be surprised if AI tools don't take on the roles templates and stock assets provide now. They'll be used to save time to ultimately produce higher quality work by freeing up overall tasks a designer has to use. Just look at the difference in motion design from films titles in the 60s and 70s vs modern day graphics. The switch from film based motion design to modern software saw a huge blossoming in the creativity and polish of work, not because people in the past were any less intelligent or hardworking, but because modern tools are so much better to help designers in the creative process. I think Ai will act in a similar role.

      @@michaelbakowski5143 Thanks so much for this comment! That's very true, we'll end up using these tools to save time, and maybe once larger companies/studios adopt these techniques, the industry will start to move in a way that these tools become the new norm! Crazy.

    The AI tools are amazing and definetly is something that we are embracing in our end.
    I have been drafting many scripts with AI, I pass them to the creative director to do a quick correction, and in question of couple hours we can have very nice scripts.
    This wil enhace creativity, definetly.

    Oh man I love Runway ML! I've used them on about 4 or 5 projects that had a lot of roto...and used them to batch roto a stack of shots...then exported them back to myself with alpha to use in my edits. Shaved off about 2 or 3 days of my own time LOL. So yeah, I'm all about ai taking away the mundane tasks and just getting creatives from point A to point B that much quicker. :)

      @@MotionHatch I think eventually some tool that uses AI will be developed, like a plugin or something for after effects, that will become the standard/ essential to not be left behind in comparison to other designers. I imagine it like a magic box where you get the rough materials from, but finally you get to control the process and tweak the little details of your creation. Automating dull tasks with the machine but you having the last decision and becoming an "artistic director", could be a good scenario.

Although, I guess Zoom and Snapchat are already doing this with their filters, can't be long until this comes to After Effects! That's an interesting opinion too, that you'd end up being the 'director' over the AI creators! I like that...
