Oh wow, almost can’t see the difference when the sign is on, end of the video. I like it that you make everything grey, even the cables and electrode covers. This Old Style is made olde style too, great job!
Beautiful result and it makes me really happy somehow, that it doesn't matter whether it is an original or a carefully recreated sign: it's just something beautiful in the end. - Oh, and I could spot a pinball machine - and a Weihnachtsbeleuchtung mit 49 Lichtern à 15 V 1,5 W. ;) - PS: As you mentioned in one part of the video: You dimmed the sign to make it being better recordable by the camera. Can you say how this dimming works? Does the power supply reduce the voltage a little bit? Or does it reduce the output frequency, so that the tubes are lit fewer cycles per second?
Oh, and in the previous video, you mentioned that you will recreate the Zenith-color-TV-sign somewhen in the future. I'm looking forward to this, as I really like such a classic happy design with the mixed colourful letters.
Thanks man. Yes this is not the only pinball machine (as if neon wouldn't cause me enough space problems) and I also collect older christmas lights.... For the dimming, i'm not sure how they do it. What i have been told is that those electronic transformers often dim on the primary side, and then the output somehow reduces its power. I guess by changing the output waveform, because you still need parts with the full voltage to ignite the tube each half wave. They usually have a dimmer button or potentiometer on the transformer itself. There is a tiny bit of models that ca be directly dimmed on the AC supply, like for cold cathode illumination in a Building. And also 0-10v control signal dimming is available. Yes the Zenith should be one of the next projects, stay tuned :)
@@NeonSignStuff Thank you for your explanations/your assumptions! What also came to my mind: How and when did you remove the blockout paint from the "-" of the "t"? After the paint was dry? Or right after the paint was applied?
Hi Could you help please. I need a new transformer that is CE certified with a UK plug. I have a HONGBA Neon Light Sign Transformer Power Supply HB-C02TE 3KV 30mA 5-25W Black that works perfect but the wires are not long enough to connect back up to the electrodes. can you advise where i can get one please? Thanks for your time
Hi, the best source in UK would be sign tec services, buy a hansen brand transformer there. They have documents available to calculate the necessary volts. Those chinese transformers tend to allow overloading, so 3kv hansen might not be enough to replace 3kv chinese. I'd probably recommend the hansen 5/20 D model, it should have enough power reserve and also has the dimmer knob. Don't buy a 30mA, that will probably be too much for your sign. 30mA on chinese/us transformers = 20mA on euro transformers. Make sure to connect the transformers extra ground wire to the sign frame.

What labour of love, but well worth it with the results at the end.
excellent work my friend, it is a faithful recreation of the original! all of the gray really gives it that vintage look.

@@maxmuster3297some hours after dipping, when the tubes are good to touch. I removed it with a cutter knife. Also on all the electrodes.
