British toddler had 'wandered out of bed' before fatal collision in Ireland

    A toddler has died after a fatal crash in County Roscommon, Ireland.
    A Jeep collided with the youngster around 9am on Friday.
    The incident took place near to the village of Ballinagare, where the boy and his family were understood to be visiting.
    According to the Irish Independent, the boy had left his bedroom and exited the house while his parents were still asleep.
    A source told the newspaper the Jeep and the boy collided on a nearby shared path.
    The driver raised the alarm following the accident.
    Paramedics were called and treated the 21-month-old toddler at the scene but he was later pronounced dead.
    Gardaí also had rushed to the scene after the alarm was raised.
    No other injuries were reported and no foul pay is suspected.
    Cllr Tom Crosby told the Irish Mirror: ‘It’s shocking, I don’t know the family.
    ‘But it’s very sad. It’s a close knit community and they will certainly be there to support the family at this time and through the coming days, weeks and months.
    ‘And I send my condolences on behalf of Roscommon County Council.’
    The police force appealed for witnesses to the tragic incident and asked for anyone with dash cam footage to get in touch.
