Central Province Stops Charcoal Permits Issuance

(ZANIS) The Central Province Administration has halted the issuance of charcoal permits to traders.
This is in a bid to preserve forests and counter the effects of climate change which has led to excessive floods and droughts in recent times.
Provincial Permanent Secretary, MILNER MWANAKAMPWE says the Province has since reduced the budget for the forestry department because it will not issue charcoal licenses.
Dr. MWANAKAMPWE said this when he ordered a driver, whose truck was found laden with charcoal on the Kabwe-Ngabwe road, to explain how he was transporting the charcoal when government in the province has halted the issuance of permits.

The Minister and his government should focus on addressing Load shedding challenges, stopping issuance of charcoal permits is just going to increase the prices on the market and make it very difficult for us consumers trying to find alternative energy sources, This is not service us citizens of Zambia.

Treat the people properly we understand the need to be careful but honestly we use charcoal for cooking every day because the economy is hard and very bad please understand

The thing is people don't understand we can use alternative energy to charcoal...the number of trees that are cut just for a bag of charcoal is too many...that's why we are having these droughts as a country...we can use gas stoves...and in a long run they are cheaper than charcoal.

Just start mining permits to locals for minerals and coal etc
Give people an alternative to make a living

The no electricity in country what do what us to use if not charcoal, can you give solution to people before act like this please. You are kill us you guys.
