    Hi Ron, it's a great story. I had something similar happen to me and my the 2 year old son on the banks of Smith River. My son loved rocks! If we ever went to anyone's house with a gravel driveway, guess what my son's pockets and anything else he could fill, was full of, Rocks. Lol.
    I would take him to a excluded spot on Smith River because the bank was full of rocks. One day we are skipping rocks, my son throwing them onto the river. Then some rocks were thrown our way and landed in the water close by my son and I. There was this little piece of dry land or island in the middle of the river. It had trees and bushes etc. I seen the bushes and trees move, I thought is was possibly teenagers goofing around with us. I yelled not to be throwing rocks at us. Short time later a basket or soccer ball size rock was thrown towards us and landed close. That made my "mama bear" come out! Just as fast, it occured to me that there was no way a person could throw that big of a rock that far and accurate. The hairs stood up all over my body. I sense danger, I grabbed my son, jumbed into the car. I didn't even put my son into his car seat until we came to a paved road.
    I come from a family of hunters, farmers/ranchers, I love the woods and not scared to go hiking/camping etc. The feeling I had was very real fight or flight, I had the feeling of being watched, like prey.
    Love and enjoy your channel, Cam and all the people who submit their encounters.
    Kind regards.

      Ms Cindi , thanks for sharing the incident . I can understand the scare you had . Had sort of a similar incident about 30 yrs ago , long before I had a clue what it was . Long story short . Myself and a couple buddies were fishing late at night when small limbs started coming at us from a tree row about 70 feet from where we were fishing on the river here in Oklahoma. We started throwing rocks back towards the tree row , thinking it was a farm hand trying to scare us. Few minutes later a 4 ft log comes flying out at us landing in the water right in front of us. Before we could digest that we got screamed at / roared at. Scared three 30 something yr old guys so bad we left all our gear and a camp fire burning and ran the half mile or so distance to the pick up. Never had a clue what it was til I started listening to BF channels 7 or 8 years ago . It was an " oh wow " moment the first time I ever heard the Ohio scream. Take care of that rock hound , he's my kind of guy ! Always loved rocks too ! 8 )

    • @nekromachine
      @nekromachine 4 года назад +2

      Yes, they are so beautiful to watch like that. We don't have them over here in England or anywhere in Europe either for that matter, the closest that we have is a moth called the hummingbird hawkmoth but it's not at all the same yet often gets mistaken by people reporting that they've seen a hummingbird here hehe. As my Grandfather has always put out a lot of stuff which we stock up on solely for feeding/attracting the birds here each day. Our back garden is always busy with the traffic of the various birds we do have here plus a family of squirrels also that are up and down the apparatus so rapidly along with the odd other few varieties of creatures. I just really enjoy standing in our kitchen so that I am able to watch them all go about their business.
      All the best your way Scott fella, cheers :)

      Hubby is a hillbilly from the area Denis was taken from. His take on it is this: Hillbilly folk who moonshine back then had a code of revenge that included taking a child as payback. Hubby thinks someone was messing or interfering with the still. He says he's got uncles who 'took' girls for future brides. There were many boys ,"taken" as revenge and brought up as part of the family. Those Melungeon hillfolk had no birth certificates. He thinks he could even have attended school with abducted kids. He says do an age forward of Denis and go look on Melungeon front porches in the towns near Cades Cove...he says he'll be there. Abducted boys and girls were valuable workers.

    Hi Dixie! Whew!! I have been to Cherokee National Forest several times, we live about an hour away. Let me just say, this place is very isolated and especially spooky when the sun goes down!! My sons like to camp up there on Round Mountain. It’s about 13 miles up the mountain; from where your start in Del Rio, you’re already in the middle of nowhere!! We followed them out there one afternoon in our old Jeep Wrangler, hoping nothing would tear up on it. My husband kept saying it was a perfect place for Bigfoot, I told him to stop trying to scare me haha. Anyway we stayed for awhile and cooked some steaks on the grill and just hung out by the campfire, the whole time my head was on the swivel, I was spooked out there. Finally it came time for us to leave, my boys and their friends were staying to camp😳 We headed out and thought it would be spooky fun to listen to one of your videos while going back down the mountain, thru mud holes and over rocks, narrow trails and trying to remember which turns to take so we didn’t end up lost and hoping we didn’t get stuck. Let me also say it was pitch black out there.. I had to turn the video off about half way down lol, it’s definitely a place where one would come across a Bigfoot! My husband was getting a kick out of scaring me, but before we got out of there he was spooked too!

      Cathy, I fell in love with the Smoky Mountains over 30 years ago. I'll go out there as often as I can and probably have as many friends in that area as I do here now. Virginia is beautiful. However, the political climate continues to get worse. Virginia has some of the highest taxes. Tennessee doesn't have a state income tax and there are a few other taxes and fees that they do not have. Cost of living is less. People are a lot more friendly anytime I've gone out there.

      @@catladylife - Yes, the Smoky Mountains are so very awesome and beautiful. I've been through that area about 30 years ago. TN has always seemed to be more 'earthy' or I guess the folks are more 'down to earth,' and that is a plus in relocating. I did not know that TN didn't have a state tax, and that's very nice...it must attract a lot more people though. Less taxes, less fees, and low cost of living sounds great! Ahhh, Virginia. Yes, I've been watching the political mess there. It's so sad to see it in decline. I also did not know that VA had high taxes. I really hope that you make your move; the sooner, the better.
