The quality level of this video is superb! This video really shows that big companies like Volkswagen need to play fair and be honest. It's super important that they do the right thing, just like everyone else.
The video literally showed the opposite. The company was working with the Nazis and committed fraud by lying for years cheating emission tests and they survived both of these cases of dishonesty which gives the conclusion that big companies cheat and don't have to be honest to achieve success
Ive got a 1962 bug. It was passed down to me by my Dad. My uncle also has been fixing bugs and buses since he got back from Vietnam. The company does have a terrible history but each generation of men in my family has learned the fundamentals of mechanics working on them. And many families around the world share this experience. Volkswagen has undoubtedly committed atrocities but theyve also done a lot of good for the world. Because of that, its hard to judge them differently from any other car company.
Cars have done good. Not the company. The company didn't give them to your family, they just sold them for the biggest profit. I learned how to cook on Mora stove, I am not giving Mora credit for feeding my family.
I bought a '61 Beetle with a blown engine in 1968. It was the first 40 horse model, and did not live up to it's reliable predecessor. Put a 50 horse Bus engine in it, and got it up to 80 before it felt like the front wheels were ready to leave the road. the only difference between the '61 and '62 bugs (aside from an improved engine), was dropping the reserve gas tank for a gas gauge and having lap belts anchored to the hump between the front seats (mine were aftermarket, anchored through the floor).
In 1970 I was 8yrs old and my mom bought a black VW Station Wagon with a manual 4 transmission. And the first time driving it my mother picked up my Aunt Chris to go shopping. When my mom tried to back out of the parking space she could not get the car into reverse. So after we all pushed the car backwards she had to go back to the car dealership so they could show her how to get the shifter into reverse. The mechanic showed her that when shifting into reverse she had to pull up on the shifter while moving the shifter to the left and up to the right. The mechanic said that VW designed it this way so people wouldn't accidentally put the shifter into 1st gear. Back when I was 8yrs old I thought that was fascinating I guess because I was only 8yrs old and didn't know anything. I use to sit in the back with no seat belt what so ever. I don't know why I'm sharing this information now, I guess watching this EXCELLENTLY DONE VIDEO brought back some great memories of my youth now that I'm in my Sixties 😊. You failed to mention that Ford, GM, Chrysler, Mercedes and BMW also used unauthorized systems to manipulate emissions and were also punished for it. It wasn't Volkswagen alone, it was the entire global auto industry, Volkswagen was just the first manufacturer where it was discovered.

So I think there's a misunderstanding about the ownership structure of the porche/vw merger. The porche holding group, the hedgfund company owns vw. They also purchased vw, and then sold Porche-Automobili (the company that makes the cars) to vw afterwards to pay for the debt they acquired buying vw. Porche holdings owns vw, and vw owns porche automotive.

The US government has been trying to eliminate diesel cars from the market since the early 2000s, mainly because US manufacturers couldn’t compete with the TDI, the system which they used to get around US was also the systems giving those car 55-60 mpg. I remember when everyone had a choice between giving it back or having it detuned. Most of my family went with having it detuned, thank god for tuning company’s making software so that 55mpg is still achievable today

All major big companies around the world have some forms of worker rights violations or even human rights violations, you should see what the big tech companies are doing…
It's honestly crazy that they went from terrible things like Kinderheim to owning a major portion of the current car makers. I watched a Carwow video where Mat put a Lamborghini Urus on a car lift and showed how many parts are actually labeled Audi. I also think that having all those car makers kept VW alive after the huge TDI issue they went through.
Tiny correction about the "Autobahn" (why you didn't just call them "German highways" is beyond me, but whatever): Our former dictator wasn't the one to design those, the Weimarer Republic has already done that. The Weimarer Republic just didn't get an opportunity to commence the process of building them before said dictator has taken over. The documentation clearly proves that they scheduled to build the highways after being re-elected. The fact that the evil dictator would sweep the floor with them unfortunately put those scheduled plans to a halt. The German dictator simply took the blueprints that the Weimarer Republic has already designed before the dictator's party had taken over. Our dictator mainly used the Jewish slaves to build the highways, it is fair to say that the Weimarer Republic would have taken a less inhumane route in realizing their plans, if they had won the election instead. Anyhow, the German education system has put a lot of effort into disspelling the notion that the former dictator was the one to design our highways. Mainly because it isn't true to begin with, but also because many of those who still believe in his disturbing ideology attempt to paint the former dictator as a genius for designing our infrastructutre, in spite of the fact that he really hasn't done so.
Your story about the flat wagons in relation to the VW bus is not correct and not true. The initial drawings for the VW bus were made by the Dutch VW importer Ben Pon in April 1947 and not by the British occupying power.
Great video! A little criticism... not 100% sure tough. There is a big difference between Porsche AG and Porsche Holding. The Porsche that bought the VW stake and held the debt was the Porsche Holding. Then the Porsche Holding sold The Porsche AG (factory etc.) to VW (which they now had a massive stake in) to be able to afford the debt they had taken on. Also, they never got to 75% stake because they sold a bunch of VW stock during the short squeeze for a quick and big profit. So after everything, Porsche Holding owned a lot of VW. But VW again owned Porsche AG which most people would recognize as Porsche.
I was just looking at old horse trailers to redo and one made by VW was 16” by 6.6 feet and 6 feet wide .. who made those measurements?! I knew something was off so thank you for confirming my gut instinct !

About the conglomerate stage: Volkswagen was as good as gone when they swallowed up Audi. They didn't have any feasible new models, but Audi did. The Audi 50 became the new VW Polo. Other models were also inspired by Audi engineers, though not directly copied from Audi models.
Basically, the base and the beginning of the business were founded on 'force' and 'blood'. This is what we could expect at the time, not just from this company, but from many companies which had the same beginning.
I used to love Volkswagen and even had a Turbo Jetta. Loved it. The defeat scandal ruined any future chances of me buying another. But VW isn't alone. I won't buy any brand that has used a cheat device.
This video is a long time coming...and I'm glad MagnatesMedia did it. I predicted they'll make it and they did not disappoint, great job! P.S. Can you make the thumbnail more impactful than just "Shady Car Mechanic Hitler"?
I don't care how evil a company is. If it's a good product at a good price I will buy it. The VW T1 T2 , if they used a galvanised high quality steel or aluminium chassis (won't rust and would be lighter) and if the shell of the car was made out of fiberglass / plastic (cheaper and lighter) it would have been a car that would pretty much last forever, the engine while sinplenis amazing and they have easily been modernised It would be great if they resumed production of a modern version of the VW T1 + 2 with petrol, diesel, hydrogen and electronics versions.
Hey there, I love your videos and your storytelling is on another level! It would be so great if you could cover the story of Dupont and the chilling PFOA scandal that they tried to burry. It took the lawyer Tom Bilott about 16 years to bring DuPont to justice. I just watched the movie Dark Waters and it is a chilling but true story...
this is not how the porsche deal ended. there is porsche se and porsche ag . se is basically a holding company while ag is the car producer. Volkswagen owns 100 of Porsche AG bug Porsche SE owns i think holds 55% alteast enogh not sure exaclty but they own over 50% basically to cover their dept Porsche Decided that Volkswagen will buy Porsche AG so in reality what really happen is that Porsche SE traded 50% of Porsche AEfor 50% of Volkswage as owing 50% of Volkswagen means you also own 50% of Porsche AG. this is an amazing deal done by Porsche SE their owners gained so much wealth is uniamiganble. Porsche SE wasnt an insanly Profitalble company because of Porsche AG they were Insaly Proftiable dude to trading stocks. and well they made arguably the greatest deal ever. (not counting purchasing some random start up that bloomed into a giant obviously)

I have a book lended by my father in law, O Homem Volkswagen, i didnt have the guts to read it yet, this video is just confirming everything for me.
And some think that what VW did with the diesel in the last few years was an scandal....
thank you for making me love my VW even more
Wut?
Same.
About the conglomerate stage: Volkswagen was as good as gone when they swallowed up Audi. They didn't have any feasible new models, but Audi did. The Audi 50 became the new VW Polo. Other models were also inspired by Audi engineers, though not directly copied from Audi models.
Daduq, even the Nazis were like "this is kinda fucked up"... Damn bro
You know after watching this, I'll never look the original VW beetle the same way again.
Where have you gone, been waiting for a new vid for a while now
This is where car guys and history enthusiasts meet
Basically, the base and the beginning of the business were founded on 'force' and 'blood'. This is what we could expect at the time, not just from this company, but from many companies which had the same beginning.
I was about to sleep, then a magnates notification popped up... To cut the story short; am gonna sleep after 26minutes
You definitely need a podcast
I used to love Volkswagen and even had a Turbo Jetta. Loved it. The defeat scandal ruined any future chances of me buying another. But VW isn't alone. I won't buy any brand that has used a cheat device.
The biggest brands were either playing both sides or on the german side
My dude I don't tend to comment on videos but you will definitely be my go to between audible credits for my commute!
Awesome video!
Could we get a video on Aristotle Onassis?
Getting excited for the next upload love your video's so interesting.
Magnates you are gone for already a month come back pls 😢
listening to this in my jetta is certainly an interesting experience
This video is a long time coming...and I'm glad MagnatesMedia did it.
I predicted they'll make it and they did not disappoint, great job!
P.S.
Can you make the thumbnail more impactful than just "Shady Car Mechanic Hitler"?
I don't care how evil a company is. If it's a good product at a good price I will buy it.
The VW T1 T2 , if they used a galvanised high quality steel or aluminium chassis (won't rust and would be lighter) and if the shell of the car was made out of fiberglass / plastic (cheaper and lighter) it would have been a car that would pretty much last forever, the engine while sinplenis amazing and they have easily been modernised
It would be great if they resumed production of a modern version of the VW T1 + 2 with petrol, diesel, hydrogen and electronics versions.
Those defeat devices they installed was based asf
The funky fresh is back in the flesh with a vengeance holmes ! :D your videos are just mesmerizing Brother lets goo !!
It’s been a month since we heard from him
A month and a half. He might be dead. Anything on his social media accounts?
@@LightSaber12345 or he’s taking a break or just cooking up something big
@@360twoYT he hasn't posted anything anywhere since this video

I should've checked the comment section for this before writing my own comment about it.
I've been waiting 🤳 for magnatesmedia 🔔
Do a documentary on Samsung please😁😁
He did already!
That's why I call my golf station wagon, The Panzer😂😂😂
I can't imagine a company worse than nettle
google "krupp slave labor"
I guess. You’re kinda right but VW is bad as nestle
In WW2 not now,ok!
@@drsunilreddyk Not now because they died in 1999
First 🔥🔥🔥 love your channel mate
I'm not sure I'm still enjoying the overly dramatized narrative of this channel. It was ok for a while, but it's getting stale. Dig enough in any big company and you'll find dirt, but this channel seems to focus only on those aspects
I agree, they focus only on the negatives.
Great storytelling, fantastic
First. Finally swastika being shown on YT and not being lamely edited out
Weirdly enough, CNN and other mainstream media never blare out Nazi symbols in Ukraine's military command
another fantastic video... AMAZING.... Thank you
About to find out if I will start looking at my cherished VW Beetle differently.😅
So how differently you looking at it now 😂
@@roshill2010 Still an iconic car😃 though, but the stats of the death of the children got me thinking. For what's worth, I'm keeping my VW Beetle 😄
@@FRUKARL Your car is the result of the post war revival of the brand with British assistance, NOT the WW2 KDF-Wagen. No shame whatsoever. I'm a proud owner of a 1968 Beetle.
@@martinharris5017 Nice one. Oh Believe me, I've got no shame at all.
At least as a consolation prize, I've got the kids excited each time I drive by. They've got a special fondness for the beetle.
I love this channel
day 5 of asking for the walt disney story, would look awsome in your style
