@@eardw2251 I have 2 I just got, 2 triple crown, 1 Ponca and about 8 that I don't know the variety. They don't look near as good as yours. I don't think I give them enough water. Your plants are very impressive.
Thanks Paul. I probably watched a hundred videos on growing blackberries, and some of them were very good. But about half seemed to be marketing material and the other half would show planting or picking but not both. I’m very curious what it will look like in the spring with flurocanes bearing fruit and primocanes growing from the bottom.
I loved my primearo freedom patch at my first house. I still own the property and am planning to start all over again at my new house for the 3rd time. I am going to do a row of freedoms and a row of travelers.
Thanks for the videos on the Prime Arks. I am in Jax, 9a. I have 5 that are a couple years old that I neglected horribly, and the heat and drought this year nearly killed them. I moved them a month or so ago to a raised bed. They didn’t look great, so I ordered 5 more, and planned to replace them. Well, they’ve finally started to take hold and recover, and the new ones will be here next week. So, I have more raised beds on the way to house them, lol.
Sounds like your well on your way to having too many blackberries, just like I do! I have noticed these guys do not tolerate dry feet well. With the sandy soil I have, they have needed a drink no more than every four days. I’m sure appreciating that drip irrigation system! Good luck.
My daily meditation is listening to a good audio book while watering and tending to my plants. Later I’ll be adding irrigation to each bed. Hopefully this time I won’t be as neglectful ;-)
Your PAF looks amazing, I'm not too far in zone 8b Thomasville Ga, bought travelers from Lowes last year on clearance for $3 just not seeing the bushness.
What a wonderful comment; thank you! Yep, we are definitely neighbors. I planted both blackberries and blueberries purchased from lowes 4 years ago that just never did well and I don’t know why. Now wild blackberries are trying to take over their beds! Even this late in the year, I can pick a couple of pounds of PAF’s every three days. Made a nice cobbler just yesterday. If only we could get a little rain………
Mine slowed down a lot as temperature approached 100°F and appeared to have some heat damage. I have read that this cultivar suffers under heat but this might result in a larger florocane crop. Additionally, they will bud out early (April here in North Florida) and can be killed with late winter frosts. Perhaps someone will stumble upon this post having experience.
I see an online seller selling this. It fruited too (their pic). Oh, in malaysia. There are other variety too, such as kiowa, himalayan, p.a.45, triple crown, prime jan
I wonder whats the difference between floricane & primocane crops in countries like mine (everlasting summer). Im intending to buy the p.a. freedom later. Because its primocane & thornless. The price of that live plant (online) is 28usd.
@@unmeaninglessly143 it would be difficult to say. High summer temps of 38°C will slow down production. My plants have stopped production now in December but the high temps have been around 25°C for the last month so I feel it is because of the lower sun angle that most temperate fruits are triggered into dormancy. Without a temperature change, I would guess an ever bearing crop that slows in the peak summer temps and again in the “winter” as sun angle diminishes.

The difference is floracane bloom on last year's growth, primacane start the spring bloom on last year's, and then in the fall bloom on the current year's growth, so if pruning is done on currant year's growth you get a much larger crop. I'll see what the chill hours are, see if they grow and bear in Florida, as about 1/2 of Florida is frost free. But still gets " chill hours" but very low about 100+.
