  • The complete show - well, at least the 26 minutes of film that survived. The legendary concert was held at the Rainbow Theatre in Finsbury Park, London, on December 31st, 1977. Rock music doesn't get any better than this!!

So amazing to think was 1977, the height of Disco and KISS and this was going on at the same time! The pace is absolutely INCREDIBLE and I never believed they actually went from song to song like that without editing but it's TRUE! They really DID play that fast, and amazingly good for thier speed and consistency. An amazing Epic machine of Punk emotion that rocked the world.

In 1977 I was in the 2nd grade in a small school in East Germany and didn't know anything about punk rock. It wasn't until 7 years later that I fell in love with punk. Only in East Germany was it difficult to get hold of records. In the mid 80's I listened to a lot of Pistols and Clash. I first found out about the Ramones at the end of the 80s and was thrilled. After the wall came down I finally saw them at a festival in Nordheim. That was in 1993.😁

Got to see all the great US punk bands including Black Flag, Circle Jerks, DK, Bad Religion, Social Distortion, X, Bad Brains, Minor threat, TSOL etc. Even got to.see the Misfits at Santa Monica civic. Not here to brag, just making point that the Ramones were on a different level. Non stop. Energy just like this incredible performance in the UK. I've heard that the whose who of the early UK punk scene were in attendance and were inspired to pursue this new genre of music that was boiling up from the underground. The members of future greats like the Pistols, the Clash, Buzzcocks, Generation X(BillY Idol) Siouxsie were all there. What at iconic show to see live. All you Brits that were there I envy you. Fortunately I moved to Northern California, Santa Cruz in the mid 80's. The Ramones came to our local club the Catalyst every year and never disappointed. Sonically the greatest 30 minutes in history. dont know if they made overdubs in the studio but who care. Saw them 30 times and this was the best.

I met them many times. They all lived in NYC and you'd see them shopping in the Village or St. Marks Place with their wives / girlfriends. Shaking Joey's hand --- feels like a small dead fish. LOL . But they would always sign an autograph ! The other GREAT thing was - even in 1980 / 82 when they were super popular - they would play SMALLER venues / clubs/ theaters !! We also would go see Rock N' Roll High School at midnight movie screenings !!

True pleasure this! The way Joey sing - its like he tries to sing thru the nose and the same time have this bully tone. Just incredible. Even Lemmy was a big admire of Ramones. You can actually hear 2 songs on Sacrifice inspired by Ramones - the refrain in the title song and song nr. 2 on the record, which is less than 2 minutes. But... Where is the opening track Rockaway Beach and Teenage Lobotomy? Anyone knows why Tommy R replaced Marky R on this set?

They fill a large theater in London yet were virtually unknown back home. The Brits are always ready for new sounds.

I wish they would release the whole show with the real vocals, they sound a lot better than the studio re-recorded tracks they used on the LP.

Used to see them in the Village clubs. If you went to the bathroom during their set (too much beer) you would miss out on at least two songs but they were loud.

This was a good show. They sounded good, Joey was singing good and they were pure energy. Later years joeys voice though still good sounded different. They influenced my playing for sure. Wish I could have seen them.
