Some raging errors:
Sandworms aren't orange, they're grey. They are not predators, they are territorial filter feeders. The Water of Life is the liquid exhalation of a drowneed sandworm, usually drowned worms were stunted and small worms kept inside moats of water to stop them from growing. A small amount of water would not kill a full sized worm, but they could be repulsed by a relatively small amount in the path of one. From the book the one called by Paul is 2.7 kilometers long. They do not have a soft underbelly, they have sensitive skin between the ridges of their body. Opening these ridges is what forces a worm to roll this section away from the abrasive sand. The smell of cinnamon comes from the production within the worm, the flint smell is produced by the friction of the worm againgst the sand.
Most of this is covered in the first Dune book. The analysis here seems to be very badly researched.
I decided to not go any further than sandworms cosidering the lack of quality.
Well said.
🤓
Came to basically say the same things. Thank you.

Good work
Fun fact Sandwormes are the only "aliens" in the Dune Universe that are properly not made from humans or descent from humans
You have no idea what you're talking about. There are actually many "alien" species in the Dune universe.
Apparently the 'creator' of this video hasn't read the books either, as the face-dancers are actually a specialized type of ghola, NOT a race of their own.
ALIEN species:
Salusan Bulls, Laza Tigers, Pantherfish, fur-whales, Cielago "dist-trans" bats, Elecran, Bjondax Whales, Gaze hounds and many, MANY more.
@@reprehensiblereptile1138 sorry where does it say that these aren't human creations through breeding / genetical engineering? (including the sandworms)
@@southpole76 Where does it say they are? Sandworms are absolutely indigenous, as are the Bjondax fur-whales. Chairdogs and Harmonthep lions, and D-Wolves are the only ones CLAIMED as genetically engineered or bred for traits. Try reading, and you'll see, I'm correct. Beyond that, nothing is owed to you or anyone else as far as proof, READ.
@@southpole76 some of them are probably just that. Creations of humanity, Laz tigers are as are the wolves used by Lato2 to guard his forests. But he might be right, though most things are definitely human made in that universe.
@@reprehensiblereptile1138I'm pretty sure the narrarator never says they aren't artificial, and the video just says creature/monster.
My name is Frank Herbert. My estranged family couldn’t find me due to every search result coming up with Dune.
tough luck
Why are they estranged
ACTUALLY the Tlelaxu were successful in creating artificial spice. It's a major plot point in the 5th book, "Heretics of Dune."
Glad it wasn't just me. This one made me go "huh?!". In fact there's a quote to the extent of the BT now producing "long tons for every decagram of the old days" or some such. Makes me hesitant about giving the rest credit, sorry.
Yeah and it failed horribly
Tleilaxu...
The sandworms aren’t monsters they coexist and give life to the universe by giving humans the ability to survive and thrive in the universe. The spice allows humans to travel universe.
Considering Arrakis was a tropical paradise before the arrival of the worms ai have to disagree. Humans aren’t responsible to giving life in the universe neithrr
Doesn't make them monsters, though. The rise of oxygen-producing organisms killed a lot of the previous inhabitants of our world, yet they aren't monsters for existing. They simply are and their existence drives the ecology of the planets they inhabit like any organism. Just moreso because of how behemothic sandworms are.@@carlosandleon
It is crazy how advanced Herbert's scifi vision was.
Gave birth to 40k!
I should edit this. Well it gave a ton of influence for sure. Amongst other sci fis.
I cannot wait for the sequel. The remake to me was a masterpiece and I honestly couldn't tell you why. Just something sucked me into it, and ever since I started dying it is hard for me to watch anything in one go.
Remember watching it fully in the hospital on my phone. Might try to go see it in theaters since I haven't been to one in half a decade.
@@dianapennepacker6854dune was just adune
Nah , dune was written as a response to isaacs foundation, the real king of scifi , you can search it up , the two had an interesting relationship but iam glad to report its not just a copy or parody, Herbert put in some work ,still he stole a lot from foundation but in a good way unlike starwars
Yeah dune is literally the most advanced scifi empire by far
It has zero technological constraints i can identify, name it they have outdone it.
The plot is All about removing the mental chains holding it back.
The guild has used ancient fear of ai to control travel , information and even technological development
The sisterhood has lost itself in its plans within plans and has also created a biological weapon so dangerous it takes the emergence of the worst tyrant in history to stop it
The ixians and tleilaxu cannot innovate because they are under the emperors thumb with the rest of humanity who fear them agreeing with the stupid controls
The emperor mantains authority by humanity being literally addicted to spice
Other than that a small band of members of any sect would beat the snot out of literally any other scifi universe much more a major house which likely commands several StarWars class galaxies
The explosive potential is hinted on ,
The honored matres threaten all life just by misusing just one sister hood tool.
The jedi of starwars are the only ones who would survive utter ownage but eventually they too would get pinned
The tleilaxu would copy them and then create several planets worth of force sensitive face dancers
Apart from telekinesis the sisters are actually superior to jedi
In dune , wars are waged across the entire known universe which includes sub dimensions.
The main problem is how to find each other in the infinite universe.
A small threat in dune is too heavy for other sci-fi universes to handle
This is why the God emperor was so evil , to manage to squeeze and predate on such a massive empire is something that humanity as a whole would never forget or fail to respond to for all eternity, they all swore to never be subject to a single addiction and squeeze point 😂😂
Yeeaah, but no
Mohaim: THAT must leave.
Baron: don’t worry, it doesn’t understand our language
Mohaim: GET OUT!
Spider leaves..
Apparently at some point it was human. 😊
That’s Piter not Harkonnen.
No necessarily
@CarlosSanchez-my7zg the concept artist confirmed recently that the spider is a genetically modified human
Most impressive part of the spider creature was that it was motion captured. An actual actress/contortionist was cast and moved like that.
The spider creature is seemingly Dr Yuen’s wife, the one Baron Harkonnen took apart like a doll.
I’d have written it that way, with Harkonnen having the bene tleilax do it so he could break Yuen, but it is not confirmed.
Its not her but its still terrifying that someone would have such a pet
Whatever that creature was it was free and its mind was totally gone even if it has some Human , it would be as if yuehs wife was already gone and it makes nosense for yueh to fight for someone whos past that level
It's still no comfort though knowing the harkonnens
That creature was something else
In the book, she died from the torture.
Ive always thought the creature was Yueh's wife. As a twisted concept that his wife was tortured enough which led to him to disregard his commitment Suk commitment to never harming anyone. Having them "capture" his wife wouldn't compromise that, them torturing her to that point would. Also your ending notes make me realize why modern movies suck. Attention to detail. Worth the sub and like
*All* modern movies suck? Well that’s certainly nothing I’ve ever heard before. What a novel idea…so deep, so insightful.
Sarcasm, on the internet? So original, so mature, and it was a flat and dry delivery?thanks for showing us what the leading edge of intellect can be. Thank you, thank you for keeping the bar high amongst us mere sub humans.
@@kylejohnston3442 always happy to help
@kylejohnston3442 he's right though...
The Bene Gesserit use a massive dose of spice, it's only the wild reverend mothers, Sayyadina, of the Fremen that use the water of life from sandworms. Rendering the toxin harmless causes that same effect (gaining ancestral memory), but the Sayyadina practices are an offshoot of the actual Bene Gesserit who came to establish the Missionaria Protectiva prophecies that Paul and Jessica use to gain a place in Fremen society.
Missionaria Protectiva - Otherwise known as "This ain't Disneyland, Sister" LOL
U r actually right also another fun fact when the Fremen talk about the "waters of life" they literally mean blood also in WH40K the God Emperor of Mankind is actually based on Dune's aside from the fact that he doesn't wear a sandworm as body armor ;p
🎁📚
@@AdriannaDaFox98 there quite a lot references to Dune in 40k, they even have version of Bene Gesserit.
Hey guys. The title says there are 20 creatures but there is not. Also, #6 D-Wolves comes up twice in a row. Just thought you should know! Thanks!
Okay I thought I was the only one that heard d wolves twice
This channel doesn't have quality control. They pay a lot of different people to narrate their videos, but they can't get anyone to sit down and watch the video before it's uploaded... Very odd.
The spider/woman is Dr yui's wife.
The Harkonens flout their wealth through 'pets'
They are also demonstrating their power over Arakis.
Bots
Like how paul gets on the list with monsters
What about chair dogs? Not lethal, but certainly shows the lows humanity has sunk to in the name of comfort, breeding animals to become furniture with a built in desire to make you comfortable without AI.
i was under the impression "the creature" is the chair dog probably
Cant wait to see Honored Matres' subjugation techniques....
Never going to see it.
I first want to thank you for not butchering the dune language and all the exponential points there in. Your depth in the exponential function and points are incredible. A side note : the desert mouse was inspired by the pignie jumping marsupial mouse. Which can be found in and around Australia and Tasmania. Have a great wk as well as a g😅wkend 😊🎉
This is interesting. I'm going to have to find the time to set aside a decade or so so I can read all of the Dune books.
Just start with the original 6 by Frank Herbert.
There was a diet plan/exercise ad before this featuring a father saying there is no excuse for a dad bod or summin. Idk hit skip as fast as I could and it cut off at him going on about no excuse to Netflix and Oreo.
Anyway, now I wanna bake some cookies for a Dune marathon with my man in sheer outrage that these ads have never gotten less prolific even as science proves none of them really work...
Amazing video, as always. Just RUclips being RUclips with them ad spots
There is software to eliminate ads, and it's free, and ad free.
One thing i always liked about the sci fi channel mini series (my introduction to dune) was that it showed how the spice was made when the worms died...i dont think the old theatrical film in the 80s showed this...i know the new theatrical films did not show this...but they wete still great movies....
no laza tigers? instead you show that creepy spider creature (which wasn't in the novel) and cymek (which isn't considered canon), but the other items were all right, also since you put the navigators in that list, there should also be leto II
Cry more. Keyboard's not wet enough.
I'm curious who said that the books written by Brian and Kevin "aren't canon"?
"Lets jump right in! But before we jump right in [...]" ~__~
I've been a fan of the series as I've read the books in the 90s. From what I understand, the only real aliens in the series are the sand worms, everything else is either a product of human evolution, or humans who evolved with the help of melange, or humans/animals who were genetically altered, or created by humans. I think the series is so big that it's gonna be several movies and I'm excited for the next part.
1:54 "inspiration from insects like the black widow spider" ? Em, insects?
I'm currently reading House Harkonen and they refer to a Chairdog. A seemingly alive chair that is able to adjust itself to whomever is sitting in it. Could the hideous spider creature in the beginning of your video be the same thing?
6:10 Mistake. Paul chose to be called muaddib, as the mouse. Usul is the name gived to him by Stilgar, a secret name that only into his sietch knows who are they talking about when they use the name Usul. Muaddib and Usul are 2 differents names, one is chose by Paul, and the other is gived to him, one is a public name and the other is a secret name.
thanks, i was going to write the same thing. You are totally correct, and its not the first mistake I have seen from this "Know evrything about Dune" site.
I thought the spider creature was Dr. Yueh's wife transformed genetically by the Harkonnens
It's far more likely a fan nod to the Tleilaxu, who are masters of genetic manipulation. Along with being one of the great powers in the Dune universe, it's hinted the "pet" who they thought wasn't intelligent or understood human speech. Was quickly seen to fully understand human speech, when the Bene Gesserit witch uses the voice on it. Made more evident by the look on Piter face, when he sees that it does understand them. Hinting at the fact it's not only a extremely expensive "pet" to show off the Barons wealth, but a spy for the Tleilaxu.
it was.
ew
10 things that most fans of Doom don't know is that the sandworms are not originally from arrakis and no one knows where they originally came from at one point the shai-hulud the great worms we're not actually part of the Doom planet's ecosystem and it was an ordinary green watery world like Earth
Dune
Spiders aren't insects, spiders are arachnids.
i heard him say that and knew immediately whoever wrote the script for this video is more about fiction than science
Bitches be confusing "arthropod" and "insect" like it's their first day on Earth
What if I pull off 2 of its legs 😮
@@Thegreatblazingsun Hurrr...cute but its genotype is more indicative of its classification than its phenotype, which doesn't change no matter what happens to the phenotype.
did you proof your video? D-wolves segment twice in a row? less than 20 critters?
calling spiders insects...
I wanna like this but half of it isnt even Frank Herberts
I didn't see any glowing eyes on the spider thing.
it always showed it either with its' head down, eating, or from behind
Duncan Idaho sounds like a cake batter with potatoes added 😂😂
I would have added the trained tigers that hunted Leto and Ghanima as children.
Your not Frank, not allowed to add anything to dune, if you want to write an homage, fine, but don't commit whatever it can be called, jj'ing the hell out of it...
@@seanhewitt603adding them to the video…
the new dunes arent as faithful as people seem to think.
so d wolves and double d wolves, are they any deez wolves?
Was hoping to see Futars, chairdogs, salusan bulls, sligs and laza tigers as well but awesome video nonetheless.

“And blood-black nothingness began to spin.
A system of cells interlinked,
within cells interlinked,
within cells interlinked within one stem.
And dreadfully distinct against the dark, a tall white fountain played.”
Cells.
Spiders are not insects, they are arachnids.
But the creature has 6 legs
@wickedscott9151 it has 8
MV - sandworms!
Me - I believe you mean Shai Hulud?!
The muad'dib mouse, desert birds, the makers(sand worm) humans and space guild navigators from first book
The human spider is Dr. Yueh and his wife killed and "reunited" again by the Baron.
At least this would be the most Harkonnen-ish lore i can think of.
While I do think the spider thing could be Yuehs wife it's not him as well, he's still alive on Arrakis when that scene takes place.
@@SeaBeast4Life You are right, although the idea about a spider is interesting: A spider has 8 legs, which is the same number as 2 humans with 2 legs + 2 arms. The baron mentioned something about "I will REUNITE you with your wife." and if he did not mean it as to just kill him, it could be a very cruel joke to really "reunite" Yuehs body with his wifes body.
This was fantastic very impressive and imaginative
Some unusual departures from the novels. I’m assuming this is either due to changes made for the convenience of filmmakers (although Villineuve doesn’t seem to worry about convenience or minimizing the story like other attempts have) but is more likely just errors in this video.
Just found you and what a video thank you 🎉🎉🎉🎉
I thought the spider was the doctors wife. Whom they experimented on
Saluki dogs from the Middle East hunt by sight. I wonder if FH was inspired by them.
Can you imagine shat Villeneuve could do with all of these creatures?
What about Chairdogs, Futars, Sligs or laza tigers, or the God Emoeror? This is Clearly not “every” monster in the dune series…
2:00 Spiders aren‘t insects!
Another theory is that the spider is Huey's wife. And the Baron promises to end her abominable life for his betrayal of the Atreidies. In reality Huet knows Baron is lying and only wishes to revenge his wife.
fake theory - no evidence whatsoever
1:55 insects? INSECTS?!
The Sandworm can be easily manipulated and defeated too.
Like how? Its over 400 meters long
@@calvinsuu1949 They have been captures and transported multiple times between different planets as baby worms. Also, Leto the 2nd did a number on them when he became the worm himself.
Another theory about the spider creature is that it is doctor Huey's wife who was changed into this creature.
It's a very loose fan based theory, that goes off misinterpreted speech.
D wolves twice i guess 🤷
20 creatures was just for name sake
Congrats- you managed to black out critters.
Spiders are not an insect. Nids are.
I cannot take Dune seriously the way the characters are named. It’s always some shit like “Gli’tchek Fuasht declared war against Jim Michigan. This decree was backed by his advisers: Khaqt Plioqma, Kevin Smith, J’Keth Vekta, and Tim Swanson”. Most goofy, nonsensical naming in any sci-fi story I’ve ever heard. Like the “normal” names aren’t even normal. They’re comically bland. Names which you’ve heard separately but never together. Or just random states. Every time I’ve tried to start reading the Dune books it takes me out of it entirely. “Alright let’s start reading this story about an intergalactic religious and political conflict… aaand the main character is named Timmy Tennessee.”
🤣🤣🤣🤣 your description has me in tears bro
From insects like black widow spiders ?
Spiders aren't insects. Therefore the black widow spider is not an insect either.
They're arachnids.
It’s spelled “Arrakis”
Wow, I heard of Dune, but I didn't have the slightest idea what a complicated mess it is ... !!!
The spider could be a modified version of Wanna Yueh, the wife of Dr. Wellington Yueh.
There’s absolutely no evidence of that in the books or film. Fun theory tho

Great vid. But. Every American on RUclips : “Doon” 😂
...Every Brit on You Tube : "Jewn" Who tf cares?
So,this is all heresy....
Funny they mention how faithful it was to the source material..I guess the writers missed Kynes in the book..He hadn't had a sex change yet
If having a minor character gender swapped was the price that needed to be payed for this film to be made, iam happy that they payed it.
@@origami83 I wouldn't call Kynes a "minor" character, but then one would need to read the books to realize that. I would also point out that it was unnecessary. Why pay a price and receive nothing? Aside from virtue signaling, it was pointless to mess with it.
@@RedneckRepairs I read the books multiple times and he is indeed a minor character.
It was unnecessary i agree and i hate it but it didnt affect the movie much imo. It could have been much worse if for example Paul was race or gender swapped.
By paying the price i mean the movie got made in the end without suffering 2 much from the woke lunatics.
I hope part 2 wont have any more deviations from the source material.
@@origami83 I would have to disagree that Kynes was a minor character, any more than the Emperor was a minor character, or Chani, or any of the others...not even Duncan Idaho was minor. Part of what offends me is that there was a total disregard for the universe as it is laid out in the books. There was a clear Patriarchy (which was actually only imagined by the men, as the Bene Gesserit were the silent power behind literally everything). If you read closely, there were virtually no women in charge of anything. There's no chance that a woman would have been the "Imperial Planetologist" for Dune..a world nearly as (or more) important than Kaitain, due to the spice. It's about equal to rewriting the legend of the Amazons as having a male king. Part of the story is lost by randomly gender swapping what I consider to be a pivotal role. The whole premise of the power structure of Dune is that the men hold the positions, but the Sisterhood, behind the curtain, is pulling all the strings (save perhaps what power, however marginal it turns out to be, that the navigators hold).
Insofar as race is concerned, It couldn't matter less..and insofar as race of the Zensunni Fremen goes, one would assume middle-eastern, but black, or some mixture would work well...Kynes never has his race declared, so he can be just about anything but an elephant and get by fine. His gender however is kind of key...the forced mother/daughter nonsense that was inserted was imposed to placate someone, but I can't imagine who? Apparently just to irritate me apparently LOL, but I knew immediately I was never going to see it.
So far, the Syfy channel's adaptation was the most true to the books..infinitely better than the original movie, which was clearly written by someone who had never read the book, at all. The followup "Children of Dune" wasn't a disappointment at all either, and thankfully I have those on DVD.
Or the fact that Chani was his daughter and that was left completely out of the movie as well
"Not mentioned in the Dune books."
Well....that right there settles it!
A lot of inaccuracies in this video.
The Fremen were not native to Arrakis.
what about futars, laza tigers, the "handlers", cielago, thorses, fur whales, sligs, phibians, elecrans, chair dogs, salusan bulls and the seaworms, heck even the honored Matres??? hmmm🤨 hardly "every" creature
My guy. Pump up the brightness.
I feel the spider-creature is going to be a stand in for the laser-tigers in the films
That spider looked amazingly like the final form of Pennywise in IT.
Spiders are _not_ insects. Insects have _6_ legs, spiders, which are arachnids, have 8. The Fremen _aren't_ native to Arrakis-they were descendants of the Zensunni of Earth. You call sandworms predatory, but then say they eat sand-sand isn't prey. Also uses art that's not Dune related to illustrate video. Should do something about terrible sound quality. Sounds like you're talking through a tin can. Get some wall-padding to keep it from echoing.
A spider is not an insect
They need to stop remaking Paul's story and get on with ""THE GOD EMPEROR"" ! PAUL WAS A WIMP LETO THE 2ND TOTAL BADASS
Dude can this be real ? I feel like I'm missing this in my life, ligma might hire yall
"Fusion of Human and Machine"... not so much. more like Pure Machine... but with a squishy CPU. The Organic Flowmetal developed for Erasmus at the end of the first Jihad comes closer, and the stuff that...

Eyes on the spider/humanoid creature? Am I really not looking at this right?
Cool vid though!
black widow spiders are not insects they are arachnids
where's Sting?
Dune made me disturbed ,wh40k (inspired by dune) took it to another level
I lean toward the Tilexu as the origin, on commission from the Baron.
Exited movies :)))(((:
Lots of distance from the book
Las Tighers? Sligs? Chairdogs? Futars? Sure there are more missing but thouse are off the top of my head.
Need to make a movie, of cymek, machines domination 👍🏾
Give them an "inch", they take and use a Mile.
Images... 10 out of 10. Otherwise 0.
The sand worms are just land gargantuan leviathans from subnautica or would the GL be a water version of the sand worm because it came second
Navigators dont fold space... thats from the movie. In the book they guild the ship through space/
3:00 Neither the Fremens or the Sandworms are native from Arrakis.
So you start a video about the creatures of Dune with a creature that was never in the story. It’s from a movie created by a man that said he never read the whole book and made a movie he would like ant the fans don’t matter.
Spiders aren't insects.
No Futars? I'm a little disappointed. They were more interesting than the D-Wolves IMHO.
If Sandworms get exposed to water, they die. They eat people that are compromised mostly of water. How does this work?
Fish pooping, the spice must flow
thats weird i was under the impression the bene txilax came about after the scattering. maybe it was just the name i thought that the bene jesuit integrated with them. i did always think it was weird about them supporting them when they turned their women into tanks.
They were around in the original 3 books. They were always seen as vile and taboo, even before the tanks are revealed to be women, which if memory serves me was in Heretics, however even after this revelation working with them was seen as a necessary evil as the BJ had a disdain for both the practice and the Tleilax themselves but tolerated both out of desperation.
??? No info on the Futar's ??? seriously ??? The Honoured Matre's loved their pets (atleast as much as a Matre heartlessly could love)... lol!!!
spiders aren't insects ;)
you got so much wrong
The Fremen are not native to Arrakis, they were freed slaves relocated there, hence the name free-men
