I totally agree with everything you are saying is a shame the others don't see sense I think they just want a £300 knife to feel good I've been there seen it done it warm the t-shirt and they are no better than a case knife in fact no better than the rough rider anyway thumbs up keep it going
Appreciate the detailed breakdown! Could you help me with something unrelated: I have a SafePal wallet with USDT, and I have the seed phrase. (alarm fetch churn bridge exercise tape speak race clerk couch crater letter). How should I go about transferring them to Binance?
I really got a lot out of this video. As someone who struggles to get a good edge when sharpening, im sure I'll do better and get the consistency im looking for.
Are the work sharp sharpeners worth getting? I see them in tractor supply but haven’t bought one because I hadn’t heard anything bad or good about them
@ebertombs6610 I have the WS fixed angle pro pa & its pretty good. Flat base and the stone holder is plastic but nearly everything else is metal. The stones are lacking very slightly however you could get third party attachments for it to use other stones. You also may need to do some very minor modifications for slightly better tolerances. CBR did a video on modifying the pro pa if you want to learn more. I also have the Ken onion edition Knife & tool sharpener Mk.2 w/ blade grinding attachment. This is a mini belt sander perfect for learning how to sharpen on belts. There are quite a few businesses that start out just by using that. You can easily find more belts for it (or learn how to cut your own). My biggest complaint about it is the plastic covering to the internals because it makes changing belts a bit hard. Although, WS states that they had to put it on the new one due to safety regulations so i can understand why they had to do it. If my memory serves me right, one of the designers stated that they wish they could remove it / make it smaller. I believe you can remove it but that would also remove the angle guide. You could modify it by cutting around the holds and guide if you really want to. There is a yt video about some guy doing that.
I have a guided sharpener similar to your Hapstone RS. When using a coarse stone, the knife is sharp. As soon as I go from my 400 grit to say 800 or 1000, the knife immediately stops cutting paper or hair. What would cause this to happen? It is very frustrating.
@@kylefreemason first thing I would check is your stone thickness, if your 800 is thinner than your 400 , or so forth, you are not cutting at the same angle. Thanks for your question though, I’ll do another video with common problems with these sharpeners
It's not changing the angle at all. Outdoors55 has a great video explaining this. It doesn't change the angle going out to the tip, no matter how far you go. It appears to but it's an illusion. So you're sharpening your flat at one angle and your belly and tip at another, steeper angle. I recommend going to watch his video to get a visual representation of this. It's math so it's not really up for debate.
@@bdub0983 your either getting bad information or not understanding it correctly. There is a triangle formed from the vertical shaft up to the top pivot point to the edge of the blade and back to the vertical shaft. By moving the blade edge further from the vertical shaft you are changing the length of one of the triangle sides and this changes the angle. Simple Geometry buddy
@JohnKlahr you're not right. It's very easy once you see it visualized. The angle of that rod doesn't change no matter how long it gets. It's not a huge deal, you'll still get a sharp knife but the angles on your bevel will be different from flat to belly.
You should really go watch outdoors55 video on fixed angle sharpeners. He makes knives for a living and he uses a visual aide to show this exact thing.
You are wrong in saying Case is a better knife than GEC. The quality and fit and finish isn’t even comparable. Maybe the 1970s Cases, but nothing they’ve made in the past 50 years comes close to a GEC. If you are talking STRICTLY function, then they are indeed close.
@@MrEric0822 in my experience , GEC fit and finish has not been that great. And Case has better details in design. That’s my opinion and I’m entitled to it .
@ I have dozens of both and it’s not even close comparing fit and finish and overall quality. Transitions, action, materials, design quality, etc. But like you said, you’re entitled to your own view.

Nice job!
I appreciate the video, it's solid, but the angle isn't changing as you go further out with the stone.
@@bdub0983 yes it is, simple geometry
Farther from the fulcrum , smaller the angle

The cbn stones are required to do any profile work as the alumina stones aren't nearly aggressive enough for having to remove much steel.
On the sharp maker I'm speaking of.
