Lost power around 5:00 PM. Came back on around 8:00PM. So thankful of our electrical workers. But the roads are a mess. Pretty scary driving home dodging tree limbs and garbage cans. Gray’s Harbor resident here. We had a nasty lightning storm last night that lasted into early this morning. One hit right outside my house and shook the whole house hard enough to wake a coma patient. I’m seeing some really dark clouds moving in right now and we are currently under a tornado warning. Climate change is one factor and will become an even bigger issue in the future, but a lot of it is that so much of the state is both disaster prone (even absent climate change) and overbuilt. Insurance companies simply aren't interested in taking so much "all at once" risk if a major hurricane comes through.

I'm actually on standby as I type this, waiting for the tree crews to come out and clear up the debris. Started yesterday, even before it hit, at 4am. Wasn't that bad. Much ado about nothin. Just a routine wind storm from a weird angle. No dangerous sustained winds. Just a really big system. The crows didn't even leave. That's when you know things are real rowdy. The birds leave.
Pretty much a hurricane but it is not a tropical storm. It is caused by low pressure and a high pressure rushing in to fill it in colder areas. If you ever walk outside in the fall or winter and the air seems warmer than normal and the air is still. It is not abnormal to suddenly feel cold air come in with wind.

Bomb cyclones are massive tornados that can be hundreds of miles across. The only way to survive is be underground. Special titanium suits might help.
