Best part of this set...the solid wings. it just gives it the weight you would expect. I was very impressed...the wwi bi-plane would have benefited from being a little more solid.

I don't think being "right side up" is the issue that the cockpit stabilizer tries to address. It's about which side of the aircraft your weapons are on in relation to enemy aircraft and such. Your sense of equilibrium may be drastically altered without any gravity, but you can still tell where other objects are in relation to where you and your aircraft are.
The reason given is because there is a pilot and a gunner working side by side in this ship. It is a fighter-bomber with more weaponry than any fighter in Star Wars so the rotating cockpit gives the gunner a more stable and predictable platform to work the weaponry from.

oh the first reason why it was called a b-wing was because on the set the called the a and b wings fighter a and fighter b, so it WAS an alphabetical reference, they just covered it by saying it is a blade wing or it looks somewhat like a lowercase b

Personally I think the wings look a little too short! But I love the cockpit! It looks really nice and the way he used the bricks to Create it (:!! Been a Lego fan for 10 years!

The 'B' in this instance is not a referance to an alphabetical resemblance, such as A,X and Y wings. When the wings are opened the overall shape resembles a sword - a Blade. B-wing = Blade Wing. :-)

If you look at it sideways wings folded down it looks like a "b" which is why it was named "B-Wing".

I remember a star wars x-wing game from the 90s, the b-wing cockpit didn't spin, just rotated between vertical for combat and flat for landing and hyperspace. Am I missing something?
my favorite starfighter now in ultamite collector edition? soooooo getting it! btw the b-wing is called a b-wing due to its resemblance to a lowercase b when the s-foils are not in attack position and u look at it sideways. it is also called a b-wing due to it looking like a sword- or Blade, when its s-foils are in attack position, so b-wing is also short for bladewing

Apparently, that's an illegal building technique according to @TiagoCatarino , even though it's this element's first ever use in a set.

Excellent. It's a pity Lego here in Brazil is so expensive and, because of that, I can't afford the UCS'.
I would have liked to have seen a new canopy design piece, but that still looks amazing! BTW, it's called a B-Wing because the main wing looks like a blade. B-Wing is short for Bladewing.
UBISOFT and LEGO should work together to make a single/multiplayer game(Like MINECRAFT! But with storyline and maybe sort of an MMO kind of game,i tried unityengine and it is awesome!) Lego is the best but what i really want to see is virtual bricks like the LU's property engine thing

Feel like this model gets more hate than it deserves. I think it looks pretty good
Is this in the same scale as the UCS X-Wing? I know a few of the past UCS models have varied scale, and it can be obnoxious for us fans who have built MOCs of other ships in the same scale as the X-Wing, and want to display them together. Differing scales can make the models look disproportionate sitting next to each other.

i got the old B-Wing and it is a little smaller
There is, but when you are far away from space, the force of gravity is so small it's negligible.
You're thinking too narrowly. The reference point for the up-down orientation can be anything you wish. The mothership the B-wing flew off of, the surface of the Death Star he's about to attack, etc....
Another "up" is the natural "up" for the human (?) pilot inside. By keeping the pilot capsule aligned with the current acceleration of the spacecraft in 3D-space, the B-wing can execute much tighter/crazier maneuvers as the pilot isn't affected by "unnatural" "g-forces".

Does anyone know why so many of the non-visible blocks, the ones holding everything together at the core of the model but can't be seen from the outside, are always yellow, red or blue?
makes it easier for the person building it. if it were all grey there would be more chance of building mistakes.
