  • This is my first wooden gear clock. It was designed by Clayton Boyer. It is constructed from about a dozen different exotic hardwoods. The gears are veneered birch plywood. It runs very smooth and consistent. It only gains about 30 seconds per hour. It was a lot of fun to build.

That is a truly spectacular Number Six. Your craftsmanship and woodworking skills and wood choices are all excellent. Thank you for doing the Number Six clock plan so proud. Aloha. Clayton

Hi Wayne's, the pendulum control the speed, up for faster and down for slower and nice work.

I don't know. Losing 30 seconds an hour equates to 12 minutes every 24 hours. That's not very accurate. Is there a way to make this design more accurate?

Very fine work Wayne. I just received my plans form Clayton today and I have a question for you. I notice that the shape of your Front and Back Plates differ from the standard Clayton Boyer design which has a sort of upside-down "Y" Is this a modification that you made? (Or is there an optional Plate shape in Clayton's plans that I have not yet found?) Did this modification cause any unexpected problems with the project? I ask because I prefer the shape of your plates and plan to copy them, but I want to know if there are unintended ramifications. Thanks.
