When I was a teenager got most of my system used I was happy and satisfied . Made a friend with owner at a brick and mortar local hifi store so I never paid MSRP so I saved hundreds of dollars back in the 80's. And I still do the same . I even now I buy a Demo save $1000 dollars on components with full warranty. But for me downsizing is going simple streamer,Dac ,headphone amp and headphones. I haven't bought any components for two-three months now. Thanks Dave
Its hard to go backwards financially with a well put together system. My message I guess I am trying to say is “you do not know what you got till its gone”
The quality of the recording is part of the recorded music, hard to separate it out. I appreciate the music and recording all as one, often it doesn't even have to sound amazing if it engages me.
i agree what you say a bad recording wont sound any better on a top system, back in the day BROTHERS IN ARMS-DIRE STRAITS was a quality recording perfect sound and soundstage, thats when i got into hifi
@@greatlookinglandscap i have over 1000 compact discs all bought from new,for me the issue is never ever my hifi system its the recordings sometimes they just sound poor
@@greatlookinglandscap ive been into hifi for 35 years now,my system is not high end, with the rack stand and speaker stands, cables etc its cost about £3.5k,the margins get smaller when you upgrade to the next level,i enjoy your channel its a good listen, many thanks,i like a few canadian bands like RUSH,STYX AND SAGA
Hey I saw a review recently by Steve G about the new First Watt SIT 4 amp What i found interesting is that Steve switched out his reference pre amp with a 50 year old (reconditioned) ARC SP3a pre amp I don't think Steve wanted to admit that it sounded as good if not better than his ref pre amp I'm thinking me tripping over the VAC amp & ARC pre amp that I bought in 1995 helped me not go down too far the audio rabbit hole Ya know sometimes you just luck out
Im looking to build a pair of open baffle speakers but most forums claim they need to be 3 or mor e feet out in the room in order to create a proper sound stage image. I noticed that your room appears to on the smaller size as is mine (8 feet wide by 12 feet long with a 8 foot ceiling height) As you know small rooms are really challenging and I have been fighting with mine for a while, I have a few questions if you don't mine. What size is your room? How do you rate width and depth of your sound stage? Do you notice any speaker side wall boundary problems? I would greatlly appreciate any comments. Thanks
my room 8w 9h sit 7 feet away but the secret is theres no wall behind me it opens up into kitchen and living space. The speakers do not need 3ft its myth atleast it in here. The frequency sweep proved it.Check the measurement video.I knew my room was very friendly from the get go.No wall boundary issues whatsoever. The speakers have been a staple here for a very long time and will remain. Why not get Clayton Shaws Caladin? That may be the best value on the market that 3k could ever buy
i want you guys to play a track on your system it will take off,RICK WAKEMAN-KING ARTHUR AND THE KNIGHTS OF THE ROUND TABLE-the track is merlin the magician, from the 3rd minute in wakemans synths come in its mind blowing
Shrink, here is something no one talks about... What happens to us when the SHTF. You can change your name to Shrink Prepper ! LOL.. What do we as audiophiles do if we cant even listen to open baffle because of nuclear war. Damn.. Ain;t that a bitch.
