RIP Sydney Schanberg (January 17, 1934 - July 9, 2016), aged 82 And RIP Dith Pran (September 23, 1942 - March 30, 2008), aged 65 You both will be remembered as legends.
When the movie and then this interview was done, it had not even been 10 years since it all took place !! Pran was incredibly brave and his will to live for his family and his friend is what carried him.
History know it or be doomed to repeat it. Incredible story and always been a big fan of this movie. RIP to both gentlemen I believe they are in a good place.
The only thing that ruins the film for me is that they used Imagine by John Lennon at the end of the film. Everything that Lennon sings about in the song as being the aspiration for humanity is actually what the Khmer Rouge instigated by force and terrorism in Cambodia. This is not a nice hippie idealistic song, it's a hard line Marxist anthem that inspires revolutionary agents to destroy the free world.
Everything in the lyrics?! Could you be more specific and exemplify a marxist part? At least one about being the owner of the means of production as a worker or something like that? Maybe you can't imagine there's no countries and no religions too. Maybe you just like to use the marxist card to justify Hiroshima. Who knows?

Dith is a one of a kind human being in world history. What a true survivor.
Mr Dith as it is Pran's surname. Pran is his given name.
my mother worked on promotion for the film, I'm fairly sure she was in the same room during this interview
Thanks for sharing.
Fascinating.

The interviewer asks silly questions

America Government secretly supported Khmer Rouge to counter the Vietnamese.
