I used to think these pilots were incredible until I realized most of them weren't actually using mouses but actual helicopter gameplay specialized joysticks.
It’s majority the opposite. I haven’t seen one HOTAS pilot doing off axis and rarely do I see them even doing *decent* j hooks. It’s a lot harder to do those maneuvers on sticknpedals since you actually have to do shit instead of pressing one button that instantly pitches your helicopter at the fastest speed. It takes a degree of skill or time to be decent either way but show me a HOTAS pilot that flies like zer0 or this fella and I’ll say that’s the best pilot in the game because that takes some real talent.
@@__Gum__ the reason HOTAS pilots don't fly like myself or zero isn't because of the inputs. they could easily tweak their settings and learn how to do it. the main reason is that they have the HOTAS setup because they want to fly realistically in a video game. and most of the shit we do on keyboard and mouse isn't that realistic.

Im well over a 1000 hours flying (with a shittier channel) myself I understand the time and skill it takes was just stating how it would be more impressive to see it done on HOTAS. Just in general though do you think you’d be 100% as good on HOTAS as you are MnK? I have a hard time believing that the only reason I haven’t even seen a HOTAS pilot flying at my level is solely because “they want to be realistic” and I too have met those types of pilots but chances are they also just aren’t capable either, if you could you would you know? Spend 30 seconds landing or jhook and drop it in 5-10 seconds it’s a no brainer when your teams dying.
haha i remember flying like that on project reality on mi-8, i was flying so low so i was actually touching the ground with front wheel of mi-8, but i couldn't do 360 to lose energy for landing cuz it's too heavy i guess, but on huey it's really useful but kinda hard and scary.

I love this more arcade style of game, where skill can be used to create flair and be more bombastic. I get that some people are into "realism" but come on, you're sat on your ass in front of a computer screen, pretty different to reality last time I went outside

Squad works terribly with a real setup. Literally one of the worst game to HOTAS interfacing in all of gaming.
Mouse works fine though.
as a msfs player I can say that this only remotely replicates heli physics. not even saying j hooks are extremely dangerous irl

its not that easy to do all this on keyboard and mouse either. it took me a lot of time, practice and tweaking setting to get where im at now
