Great video! Just got a Mevo+ as well and I am having trouble with low shots and putts and it seems to be due to lighting... Was wondering which lights you leave on when using the mevo plus and what is the minimum lighting required to properly capture putts without ruining image quality...
I only have the hitting area well lit. With the new fusion technology the camera does need some light. You can see how lit your area is when using the alignment camera.
@@GolfSimulatorVideos thanks for the quick reply! Does your ceiling light come built in to your ceiling camera system? If not any recommended type of light (led? 3000K? Etc) Thanks!
Awesome Video! What size is your impact screen? My room size is very similar to yours and I am trying to maximize my screen size but still give me some storage space around it.
Awesome setup. I noticed your mat is level for putting and hitting. How does the Mevo react for putting off of a mat which is higher than the surrounding surface?
chad boychuk It reads the actual roll unlike some club head only reading units. You will need a level roll for putting. But it’s a good thing! It’s actually reading the ball! :)
If I can ask what type of turf do you have in the middle for your irons? The turf we have is too soft and it actually grabs the club if you try to strike down on the ball so much that it hurts. I’m looking for something a little firmer that is more realistic with irons. Thanks!
I am confused with the references to all the HD equipment and then the Mevo+. Please clarify. If I have the Mevo+, a Mac computer with the right specs in an indoor configuration is a 4000 lumen projector good enough and would I be happy with projected image. I am looking at an Optoma projector.
This is a demonstration studio. So we have about 7 full launch monitors and simulators setup. Mevo+ can run by itself hooked up to an iPad. Or you can use PC, projector etc. If you plan to use a Macintosh you will need to have parallels for Windows. Thanks for watching
So I currently have a make shift simulator spot. I am planning to expand it and do something like this. Is there a kit or guide to build something like this excluding the all the hardware?
You don’t have to hit the screen with every shot, the cameras measure the ball as it leaves the mat and a little after and knows the path it would take just from that. So therefore it doesn’t matter how close to the screen you are for that, that’s why he has the padded ceiling and walls and stuff so that when high wedge shots or flop shots are hit and they hit the ceiling, it doesn’t cause any damage
You didnt touch much on lighting. lighting above the ball.. where should most lighting be placed, how soft, temperature etc. better behind the golfer? the side? what type of lighting.. Watts etc.
So my lighting is kind of a mess, lol. I have so many lights for lighting me up for the video recording etc. it is not applicable to the average user. The best light to use in my opinion is a narrow beam flicker free LED with a warmer temp like 2700-3000k.
Hi nice video and setup. Can you provide a link or details on your curtains and ceiling baffles too? I have a Carl’s place diy enclosure, works and looks great, though would like to add some black curtains to segregate the room and make the finish look a little cleaner
Got a quick question. So I was looking to build a golf simulator. But I was going to put it in my shop or garage/mancave it's a metal pole barn. Was looking at getting the mevo plus and running it with a pc. Will that work okay in a metal pole barn do you know? It's going to be on a corner well that is the plan where I wanted to set it up at. Thanks for the help.
It's impossible for anyone to guarantee. I know many that are successfully running them in metal barns but each setup, metal or structure is so unique nobody could say without testing. SkyTrak or any camera system is the safe bet or you take the chance. Now, Flightscope has said there are radar blocking materials that can be draped behind screens if heavy metal is present etc. Hope that all makes sense. Email me and I can connect you in either one to save. a98cr125@gmail.com
Nice setup man! How much did you spent if you don't mind? How I wish I have the same in my house. You can really improve your swing with that technology you're using. Well impressed.
It’s really not a good budget to even consider since we have added so much hardware over the years to test and demonstrate. Launch Monitors we show in the channel range from $2000 to over $20,000. The projector used in the studio is a bit overboard coming in at about $8000 with the special lens. The rest really can vary on your space for built out for turf, screen etc. Many of my viewers have nice setups under $8000 with a entry level launch monitor to start and encourage and decent projector and mat. Most start there and continue to upgrade and build things out along the way. It’s a great way to get going, or go all out and get a custom build out right from the start which can exceed $50,000 depending on what you pick. Thanks for watching
Love the setup and your videos! What hitting mat and stance mat do you have? You said "soft strike" but when I google that I can't seem to find anything. Yours seems a lot thinner than mine, which I could use because I don't have super high ceilings. Thanks!
I got the EXPUTT using your discount code - thanks for that! I have a question about lighting - will it be an issue for SKYTRAK if there is that spotlight right on top of it? Issues on read or accuracy? Thanks!
Hello Jay, I would like more info on your gaming laptop. I know you said a Acer Helios 900 but from other videos you talk about your laptop being a touchscreen model which is a little more convenient when using a simulator program. Do you have the specific model and specs for your unit?

This was several years in the making and I play with several people that started with a basic LM, mat, and entry level PC and have slowly build a nice setup with cage, screen etc. Clearly technology like this is not cheap but if you can, start small and build from it. Good luck!
Loved the video and depth you covered on your simulator. In what ways is this setup from HD Golf going to to be more beneficial than a GCQuad or Trackman4? I'm guessing a setup like this is going to be in the ballpark of 60-70k or am I still on the lower side?
Thank you! We use all kinds of hardware and software in the studio including GCQuad and also tested Trackman. Check out the latest videos. The base is HD Golf though. They start at about $40,000 but includes screen, turf, PC, Projector, hardware, install, etc. Thanks for watching
Times have changed, my parents first house cost less than half of this man cave. She sure is purdy tho. I would probably have a vitamin D deficiency if I had one of those at my house.👍
Dear, Golf Simulator Videos. I set the impact screen and I purchased the sky track. Everything looks fine but I got the Optoma GT1090HDR for the projector. But it gives me a lot of headache to set it up. Can you please recommend the projector? I am going to install the project on the ceiling and the distance between the impact screen and the projector is about 14 feet. My budget is under $2000.
What’s the tee distance from screen, distance to projector and height of projector? I’m in process of building my simulator with QED (which i know you now have mounted above projector) and big debate online. I want to mount behind like you but everyone says MUSt mount in front of tee.
No idea why they are saying you have to be in front. Unit is 3.5 ft behind tee and front of projector is about 4.5’ behind the tee. Tee to screen is 10’. If you have not placed your order yet let me know. Just shoot me an email at a98cr125@gmail.com
Can you use VMware with a FEDORA image instead of the HP Xeon PC ? I ask as one could use 1 PC with an L2 switch instead of many PC/laptops. Thanks, Awesome sauce setup

@@GolfSimulatorVideos you can load a Windows 10 virtual machine using Fedora. Its the VMware I'm most interested in know if it works. You can cut major cost. One server instead of 1 at each SIM. Thx
Great videos! Keep up the work! Question for you. I am building a golf sim room soon and I’m looking for material for the build. I am looking for some side panels and also would love that strike mat you have. Is there a general website or store you shops at?
I seen in a previous video u said the skytrak is better indoors than the mevo+. Yet u are using the mevo+ here. Do u prefer the mevo+ over the skytrak? I'm undecided on which one to get!
You probably misunderstood the conversation. SkyTrak is better for short indoor below the needed space for mevo+. I have them all and demonstrate them all. Both SkyTrak & Mevo+ both hold good value in there space.
I am researching high end simulators and am trying to determine how to compare them. Why did you choose HD golf over Golfzon, X golf or Full swing golf?
I have many more systems than that now. That was just original Simulator installed Years ago. Shoot me an email and I can explain more in depth. a98cr125@gmail.com
Just bought the Mevo+ from your site. I'm putting together the specs for a simulator build while waiting for it to arrive. Would you recommend a 16:9 screen size vs a 4:3. I have plenty of depth and width in my room but only 8'9" of height.
Alan McMaster If you plan on going PC, 16:10 or 16:9 is really nice if you have the room. 4:3 is great for rooms not wide enough. Projector Central can help with sizing.
Jay do you have a link for the soft strike mat? I ordered two 4x4 commercial hitting mats and looking for an insert between them. I see true strike online but not soft strike.
Hello! I was wondering if the GC Quad is the good Golf Simulator for me. Im left handed and most of my friends are right handed. is it possible to play a 18 Holes with one left handed player and a right handed player by Simply Moving the GC Quad everytime we alternate shots? Will the GC Quad be destabilise or not proprely set from moving from side to side? thanks.
Hi. I am considering buying a Mevo+ and have a simulator set-up like this one, but without the HD Golf cameras + sw (I guess you need everything else, but using mevo+ instead). Do you think HD Golf could do that?
Do you think 11 feet height is enough for 46" drivers and golfers over 6' tall? I'm in pre planning stages and I'm concerned with too low a ceiling and/or people getting indoor swing syndrome from not having enough space
Hi Jonathan, no you don’t have to but it is so easy to and it helps with spin. They last as long as a ball as long as you don’t have a super tough screen or net. They are also cheap. Thanks for watching and please subscribe 👍
So did you have a contractor dig out your basement floor to make an 11’ ceiling? Usually standard construction is about 9’ H. Also what do you estimate your entire build cost? Would love something like that
Hi Don, no we had the house custom built with tall ceilings. Too tough to estimate a building cost as it has evolved so much over the years and we continue to add more things. Not your typical setup ya know?
What is the height of your screen? And how often do you actually hit the baffles above? I’m building a sim in my garage and and my screen is 9’4” to the top. Just curious if I actually “need” a top pad/baffle/net for shots that may go above. I don’t imagine you hit a ton of actual flop shots on a sim game. And I personally would only practice them outdoors on a proper chipping area. Thanks in advance
Golf Simulator Videos alright and you said you’re about 10’ from your hitting area to the screen in past videos correct? Just making sure because my wedge game is most what I want to be able to practice the most from 150 and in and wanted to see what your thoughts were on a full normal 60* shot would be too high or not. I ordered a Mevo+ using your link and I have 18’ total from where my screen is and where the Mevo will be placed. And you think it’s best from your experience to have 8’ behind the ball and 10’ to the screen?
Also, I am currently setting up my own home simulator and I have enough space for a Mevo + (just enough) but am wondering how it performs indoors vs SkyTrack. It seems that everyone that reviews the Mevo + is doing it outdoors...
Yes golf is mainly a hobby other than running the simulator channel. I am in business. Check out all of the other videos in my channel tons of examples. I will be doing a comparison with sky track soon. Thanks for watching and be sure to subscribe
Hello Jay, I bought the E6 software 3 years ago. Still sitting in the box as I don't have a PC or laptop to load it into. I just wanted to ask what a typical laptop set up would require as far as far as video card, RAM, and the like. I'm interested in the Mevo+ and look forward to a purchase and playing rounds into a net outside (minus putting). My house is too small for a sim set up indoors. Any input will be appreciated, but lets not look at you $5K laptop as a necessity, okay? Ha ha
Mark Kangas Yeah that’s bare minimum but it works. If you want to be safe for no fps worry just go 1070 or 1080 and above 👍. Video card is the most important
C Murphy Labor, components, cameras, boditrak, turf, software and a lot more. Probably like $60,000 plus invested but not all at once. I would always suggest people start with a base and build off it. Start with what’s important the room itself, screen, projector, etc.
Hi Dave, it is pretty much impossible to give a budget here. This is a full demonstration studio with now over 8 systems running. So it would be misleading I think at this point to try and throw out a budget as users would not be installing multiple launch monitors, hardware, and software. I hope that makes sense and I appreciate you watching!!

Awesome video! Ill be taking some of these tips and utilizing them some day. Thank you
Jer W Thanks for watching!
Fantastic simulator setup. I’ve been wanting to build my own for some time. The mevo
plus is really nice. Subscribed. Looking forward to more. 👍
Glenn Wisse Yeah I love the Mevo+ it is a great unit. So awesome how I was able to take an existing setup and just at that LM for an entire new experience. Thanks for watching.
3000K? Etc)
Thanks!
@@ludviclaberge3326 I've had some narrow beam halogens for years. Check out the Chauvet Eve 20 its great.
Awesome Video! What size is your impact screen? My room size is very similar to yours and I am trying to maximize my screen size but still give me some storage space around it.
12x8’. Shoot me an email and I can help you. a98cr125@gmail.com
Thanks!
ruclips.net/video/M7KuwJpjpyM/видео.html
I am confused with the references to all the HD equipment and then the Mevo+. Please clarify. If I have the Mevo+, a Mac computer with the right specs in an indoor configuration is a 4000 lumen projector good enough and would I be happy with projected image. I am looking at an Optoma projector.
This is a demonstration studio. So we have about 7 full launch monitors and simulators setup. Mevo+ can run by itself hooked up to an iPad. Or you can use PC, projector etc. If you plan to use a Macintosh you will need to have parallels for Windows. Thanks for watching
Golf Simulator Videos I figured that out after watching several videos last night. Thanks!
Wow that’s amazing!
Thanks for watching! Be sure to subscribe, a lot more content coming!
hi!, nice and explicative video you made!!, it'd be interesting to see how you work with each systems, like Mevo, Skytrak, and so on.....
That’s the plan, Jorge. New system being installed this week and more to come. Thanks for watching!
What size is the impact screen? Thanks
Sorry I missed this. It is 12x8. Thanks for watching!
So I currently have a make shift simulator spot. I am planning to expand it and do something like this. Is there a kit or guide to build something like this excluding the all the hardware?
All kinds of options, individual components or full packages etc. Shoot me an email. a98cr125@gmail.com
Wonderful setup what do you do for a living?
So can you have left handlers play with you at the same time?
Yes my room is setup for right and lefties. Thanks for watching
What distance is between where you are hitting and the screen?
Just over 10' ball to screen
Question; how far back is the hitting area / T to the screen? It obviously can't be to far back if hitting wedges. Thank you
Craig Hi Craig. 10’ from ball to screen. Thanks for watching!
Parzival did you ever find some good curtains to buy? I am currently looking for some that aren't too expensive.
Where are the speakers connected? To the projector? Or the computer?
I have my speakers connected to a receiving with a audio cable from the computer. Thanks for watching
What is your screen size? Oh..I see it now. 8 x 13. Thanks
Thanks for watching
Can I have the link for the impact screen?
Thanks
Do you not get any interference using Mevo with all your computers and TV off to the side like that?
Love the setup and your videos! What hitting mat and stance mat do you have? You said "soft strike" but when I google that I can't seem to find anything. Yours seems a lot thinner than mine, which I could use because I don't have super high ceilings. Thanks!
If you are interested in the Soft Strike mat they are now available for individual sale just shoot me an email at a98cr125@gmail.com
I got the EXPUTT using your discount code - thanks for that!
I have a question about lighting - will it be an issue for SKYTRAK if there is that spotlight right on top of it? Issues on read or accuracy?
Thanks!
I have lights directly above my SkyTrak and it works great. It's a photo metric with Infared system so light does not hurt only could help.
Hello Jay,
I would like more info on your gaming laptop. I know you said a Acer Helios 900 but from other videos you talk about your laptop being a touchscreen model which is a little more convenient when using a simulator program. Do you have the specific model and specs for your unit?
Funny, it might be for sale as I just built a rxt3090 desktop :). It's a beast I love it. Acer Predator Triton 900 4K touch. Rtx 2080 with 32GB ram and 2, 1tb m.2 in raid. I just was ready to go desktop for recording etc.
@@GolfSimulatorVideos I may be interested in purchasing the laptop. What were you thinking price wise for me to take it off your hands? I am a Michigan native just like yourself. May be able to arrange for pick up instead of shipping. Let me know. Thank you
@@brianc8255 yeah that could work out well. I'm still ironing out the transition right now but why don't you go ahead and shoot me an email. a98cr125@gmail.com
I don't think my stimulus check is gonna cover this setup...
This was several years in the making and I play with several people that started with a basic LM, mat, and entry level PC and have slowly build a nice setup with cage, screen etc. Clearly technology like this is not cheap but if you can, start small and build from it. Good luck!
How about if we put our checks together? 😉
What was total cost of the build?
Min 100k
Stefano Bianco yeah I’m going over $100,000
What sound system do you use?
I use a nice Sony receiver with 2 Bowers and Wilkins speakers behind the screen.
My budget is under $2000.
amzing setup
Thanks for watching
Thanks,
Awesome sauce setup
I am unaware of anyone running Linux. I would recommend sticking to a windows based PC as it seems to have full compatibility and support for most software.
@@GolfSimulatorVideos you can load a Windows 10 virtual machine using Fedora. Its the VMware I'm most interested in know if it works. You can cut major cost. One server instead of 1 at each SIM. Thx
10UPn2DOWN Never tried it so I can’t say yes.
Hey Jay, What model/brand of light are you using (the one you turn on at around 9:45 or so. The high powered LED light?
Great videos! Keep up the work! Question for you. I am building a golf sim room soon and I’m looking for material for the build. I am looking for some side panels and also would love that strike mat you have. Is there a general website or store you shops at?
Feel free to email me and I can get you all of the information. a98cr125@gmail.com
What do have to do if you have left handed golfers
What tees do you use with your setup for driver?
These are built into the turf using a plastic screw base under and then screwing the rubber tees into that base thru the top.
Where can I get the soft strike mat?
It's not a normal retail item you will need to send me an email. a98cr125@gmail.com
@@GolfSimulatorVideos thanks for the suggestion!
Alan McMaster anytime. Thanks for watching 👍
Jay do you have a link for the soft strike mat? I ordered two 4x4 commercial hitting mats and looking for an insert between them. I see true strike online but not soft strike.
I am working with HD to see if they will sell accessories separately 👍
@@GolfSimulatorVideos Any update on this Jay? Looking for a middle soft strike mat as well and wondering if you can source them? Thx

Shoot me an email. I will connect you with the right contact. a98cr125@gmail.com
Jay, what is the distance from the screen to your back wall (behind the golfer). Did you say 17’?
Correct. From back wall to screen 17’. Its just enough to be comfortable and have a camera from behind too.
Great video.
Ant Thanks for watching
Do you think 11 feet height is enough for 46" drivers and golfers over 6' tall? I'm in pre planning stages and I'm concerned with too low a ceiling and/or people getting indoor swing syndrome from not having enough space
10' is the standard for having plenty of room so if you are pushing it 11' should be plenty.
@@GolfSimulatorVideos thanks for the unbelievably fast reply on such an old video. Appreciated.
Does the mevo+ require you to use the metallic stickers indoors?
Sweet set up! Waiting for my mevo plus to arrive. What brand screen are you using?
This is a HD golf simulator screen. So it is part of a full package. Thanks for watching
So is it made and sold by a separate company? Or can it only be purchased through HD?
What is the height of your screen? And how often do you actually hit the baffles above? I’m building a sim in my garage and and my screen is 9’4” to the top. Just curious if I actually “need” a top pad/baffle/net for shots that may go above. I don’t imagine you hit a ton of actual flop shots on a sim game. And I personally would only practice them outdoors on a proper chipping area. Thanks in advance
Jordan Chapman I realized after I did not say the size of the screen 🤦♂️. 8’ high 13’ wide. Only big flops hit the baffle.
Jordan Chapman Nice yeah you will have a perfect area. My unit is 7 feet behind the ball and I have 10 feet ball to screen
Golf Simulator Videos perfect thanks for the quick replies and information. Much appreciated!
Jordan Chapman Anytime glad I could help. Thanks for watching
I love the video and the mat is really cool! Golf sounds like a hobby for you, what do you do for a living?
Also, I am currently setting up my own home simulator and I have enough space for a Mevo + (just enough) but am wondering how it performs indoors vs SkyTrack. It seems that everyone that reviews the Mevo + is doing it outdoors...
Yes golf is mainly a hobby other than running the simulator channel. I am in business. Check out all of the other videos in my channel tons of examples. I will be doing a comparison with sky track soon. Thanks for watching and be sure to subscribe
Nice setup, what is your day job?
Where do you get the turf ?
What was the total cost of the set up?? Thank you
Whats projector would you recommend under 1k
The 2 most popular for that price point are the BenQ HT2150ST and the Optoma GT1080HDR.
How much was it all in total?
I have gone over this several times in the comments. Check them out. Thanks for watching!
Ha ha
Mark Kangas My recommendation is GTX1060 or above 8Gb Ram SSD and i5 or more.
Wow, lot less than I figured. Thanks, and great videos, keep 'em coming!
Mark Kangas Yeah that’s bare minimum but it works. If you want to be safe for no fps worry just go 1070 or 1080 and above 👍. Video card is the most important
Go to TruGolf website the company that owns E6 software and they will give the specs needed to run the software
Do you recommend optishot2?
For something just fun sure but for any type of realism, no. Feel free to email me for the best options. Thanks for watching
It would be nice to see a basic setup instead of a cadillac setup. :)
Who would I consult to get a set up like this in my home?
kameron dzuris Email me: a98cr125@gmail.com
How much did it all cost please?
C Murphy Labor, components, cameras, boditrak, turf, software and a lot more. Probably like $60,000 plus invested but not all at once. I would always suggest people start with a base and build off it. Start with what’s important the room itself, screen, projector, etc.
I am not sure I'd ever leave this room lol
What was the total budget
Hi Dave, it is pretty much impossible to give a budget here. This is a full demonstration studio with now over 8 systems running. So it would be misleading I think at this point to try and throw out a budget as users would not be installing multiple launch monitors, hardware, and software. I hope that makes sense and I appreciate you watching!!
Hi, I am trying to make may own budget. I am a professional coach in Argentina. I use Flightscope Mevo for teach golf on course to my students and also at the range. That's a mad set up man, I was wondering how much did this whole set up cost you? I'm looking at having such an amazing dedicated room for golfing and home theater. I'm having some issues with putting since I'm thinking of buying a skytrack Instead of MEVO.
Ludovic Marie thank you. I responded to some people below. It’s been a work over several years. But had so much going on it’s tough to even give a price. Probably $60k plus invested over time.
Been waiting for this video! Great setup. Would you still recommend Mevo+ over Skytrak even if using it in Short Indoor mode with metallic dots?
