good and technically explained. From last 1.5yrs I m using Dzire AMT, very good and comfortable car, excellent convenience in driving. Always go for AMT....
My 2 cents.. If your currently driving a manual gear and have no issue in pressing clutch and changing gears manually, I advise you to continue with manual gear only even if your purchasing a new car. If you're an expert driver you will enjoy only manual gear only. Amt or Imt will definitely kill the mileage by 20%. Most of the time in city you will be in either 2nd or 3rd gear only. To advance to higher gears you have rev the engine to 2500 rpm and above. You will be burning fuel unnecessarily, that's why mileage drops. Also the clutch wear and tear will be much more in amt. Within 30k km run you will experience clutch vibrations etc.
What I feel is, in manual, the chance for drivers to sleep is less because they should be keep on shifting the gears. In AMT the chance is a bit high. This is my personal opinion.
Sa nope not really ! AMTs consist of pneumatics which are more unreliable, a manual transmissions remain rock solid ! Even if they have a lot of moving parts ! That is why many countries like Australia prefer manual moreover automatics!
Manual is more engaging, feels connected with the car. It gives more control over the vehicle. There are skills and techniques required to use the car at its best ability. Id not depend on a computer chip to decide whats best for me or car.
@@andromgalaxy7507 actually usually it never happens in high end cars mustang etc. But for some reason Auto does give less mileage than manual in cara like creta , seltos , harrier etc . I think This can be mostly due to with the kind of auto transmission being used in lower end cars .
After doing some serious research I bought Manual car. Drawbacks of AMT/AGS: 1. The first major drawback I found is that AMT/any Automatic Gear shift is linear. Means it will upshift 1, 2, 3, 4 then 5th gear. Same for downshift 5, 4, 3, 2nd gear even if you are driving in manual mode. You can not go from 5th to 3rd gear directly by pressing clutch. I found it is sometimes necessary to downshift from 5th to 3rd to overtake a fast moving vehicle on indian highway. 2. In AMT car you can not park the car in gear mode. I can't rely on handbrake to park a car on stiff incline or hill. In manual we can park the car on 1st gear to achieve braking. 3. In manual car you can disengage the gear from engine by pressing clutch. In this way you can achieve friction braking. Car will become slow or stop without braking after going some distance. In this way you can save brake pads. 3. On a bad Indian road AMT will struggle. As you can not use clutch to save brake pads. Brakes will worn much faster in AMT cars. Same for other hydraulics used in AMT clutch/gear as there will be continuous upshifting and downshifting of gears. 4. You can not push the AMT car to start in case of battery failure whereas in manual car you can do that in worst scenario. 5. Manual cars are tested and proved efficient for long time whereas AMT cars are relatively new in India. Maruti launched Celerio AMT on 2015 which was the first low budget AMT car in India. So, I didn't found any long term review after 100000 km as of now. Conclusion: If you are an expert manual car driver then I would suggest you to go for Manual car otherwise you might be disappointed.
I wanted to buy AMT as my first car, but now have manual, because at price of AMT variant I got one segment above car (base model). After few week of learning and months of driving Manual just feels natural to me. I mostly drive in low to moderate traffic not in rush hours so Manual is fun to drive, but yes in heavy traffic you get exausted/frustrated fast.
Im my opinion both are good and fun. Both can be equally fun but it all depends on what car it is. A auto 2020 challenger should possibly be equally as fun as a manual challenger. Just my opinion
I have a AMT now which I had to forcibly buy due to heavy B2B traffic in my city..I'm a manual drive liking person BTW...The best way to use is Auto mode in traffic and once hit a free road shift to manual for thrill and fun..there is marginal difference in mileage
@@harshit7747 Its almost the same as AMT is makeshift manual transmission with auto actuator, hence its a marginal difference. Im getting 14 in city..highway should be 18 or so.
If you are buying your first car go for manual. Take this as an example, you know to drive AMT and your car stopped working, suddenly you need a car for an emergency situation. In this moment you have to rely on your neighbor car which is manual. So in this situation you must know to drive manual. In a country like India, you will find more manual cars than amt. So learn manual first than Amt and you will be able to drive all cars.
One cannot negotiate an automatic transmission car in flooded roads as it's not possible to keep high engine r.p.m and low speed, using half clutch and accelerator, to prevent water entering the exhaust pipe
When u get tired, u get sleep, if ur energetic feel fresh u won't sleep. Better u be fresh when u drive. If u feel sleepy then take break. Amt and cvt will fetch good resale.
