@grenzer45, as disgusted as they might have been when Hitler came to power, they actually admitted that they privately considered and looked up to the NSDAP ideas and program and actually envied their accomplishments. Wilhelm II was entirely enthused when Hitler defeated France according to plan and sent him a letter congratulating him. A lot of the hatred that the Royalty had for the Third Reich Officials must be looked at for what it is. If you grew up in Royalty and especially to be a figure like the "Kaiser", you were raised to believe you were the closest thing to the Divine, and that nothing and no-one else can ever compare. The Kaiser, just like Bismarck and even Frederick the Great, are Men who are largely a product of their era. It would only be natural that they would hold disdain for anyone not of the Junker Class or lineage in general, especially if they happen to surpass their own achievements.

You are completely fooled by war propaganda if you think anyone would have been able to see what is happening in 1930-36, enjoy your day. I will say it again, you can study your books, you will still never know what it meant to live in 1900 Germany, let alone the rest of europe. We had the Peace Emperor, while the rest was playing war. When Hitler came around, the Germans already forgot about Wilhelm, there was no relevance to it. But WW2. Propaganda made it sound like he was part of the nazis, was a warmongerer before they existed etc. There is no point in trying to argue with someone that is part of rewriting history anyways.

    • @emilybung5890
      @emilybung5890 Год назад

It is pure ignorance and in that way dangerous propaganda to think that anyone let alone exiled Wilhelm would have known that there will be another ww, holocaust, mass persecution of opposition etc. Noone did until it happened. (except the actual nsdap conspirators who you should probably learn more about). This is exactly the kind of perception that led to marking Kaiser Wilhelm as a Nazi Conspirator and leads to his Image being torn TIL this day even here in Germany, it destroyed any sense for actual History, not the made believe. The sheer lack of understanding and consideration of Propaganda (WW1 and present) is the crux of the problem here.

What this video promotes is the truth. My Maternal Grandfather, an Italian & U. S. Citizen, with Dual Citizenship, was a U.S. Lt. Col. in WWI & WWII. Pop was the Nephew of Pope Pivs XII. Two of his brothers were in the German army in WWI. He met them on the battlefield. They shook hands, said hello and turned around to go back to their respective commands. He stated on multiples occasions that it wasn't the German people who wanted H.I.M. Kaiser Wihelm II to abdicate, but his hierarchy with the push of Great Britain & Woodrow Wilson of the United States. He wasn't the Monster painted by the Allies, but was caught up in a War that was a mistake. He wanted the war to end as soon as Austria got what it wanted in Serbia, but H.M. Franz Josef I of Austria-Hungary got greedy. Sir Winston Churchill was right. Had he stayed with diminished capacities as Kaiser, Adolf Hitler may never have come to power in Germany. He doesn't deserve the reputation he has had and re-evaluating him is definitely what historians need to do at this point in history.

During the war he allowed the military to take over political affairs.
In 1918 he did not try to remain at least King of Prussia and fled to the Netherlands.
But internally he made peace with the marxist social democrats. Under his rule, administration of Prussia and Germany was excellent because it helped to modernize Germany in education and technics.

The problem with restoring monarchies after so long is who ends up becoming the monarch? With an ongoing monarchy the crown keeps getting passed on but not so much when its been gone over 100 years. How would one decide whod be the next Kaiser of Germany? I guess the best thing to do would be look at all of Wilhelms living relatives and decide from there?
I know it would be a constitutional monarchy but still.

The only thing though is I do believe war would be inevitable sooner or later into the 20th century, at the very least with France and England and maybe Russia eventually. France and England did not want to relinquish their monopoly over enslaving Europe. The fight that the Germans struggled for in WW1 and WW2 was aimed at freeing Europe from British Imperialism and giving a new era of Peace, Stability and Glorification of Europe. It would've put an end to the common European tribal conflicts of centuries.

Actually, it can come back. Remember, the Prussian ruling titles were a forced abdication by the allies after the war. Mainly pushed by King George IV (4). Gotta love the family love between the British and Germans. A lot of Prussians and Germans believe that the treaty was unfair and cost Germany land loss of the old Prussian Territories. Thus the reason why Hitler attacked Poland and the lower parts of Russia during WWII. Trying to get the old Prussian land back by force. Not agreeing with Hitler at all, but people need to understand that the forced abdication of Prussia is what caused a multitude of issues to include the rise of Hitler. Kaiser Wilhelm II was allowed to keep the German Constitutional Monarchy titles, but he decided to screw the entire family over and turn those over as well. However, the Prussian house can still come into power, but will not without the public support. A force abdication can be reversed under special circumstances.

Instead of the Balkans . Werent they supposed to help their allies the serbs ? The war against (and looting of) Germany was planned all along. In fact British inteligence was behind the organisation (the black hand) that had the Austrian heir killed. Serbian inteligence also were part of training the assassins. All was done to wipe Germany of the Commercial map. The Brits wanted Germany gone ever since the Creation of Germany in 1871. The propaganda war against Germany was started right after the Congo treaty in 1885.

I am French and i was about to cry, i emotionally was driven near the tears.
I say it, we really messed with post-ww1, we did the bad things that led to the next war ; what have we done, we fools ?
My admiration means nothing to the world, but he did so much for the world, and that is why we should never forget him, and the rehabilitation must be done in our lands, these who decided to ruin germany's greatness and his future for some foolish reasons. I don't hate my country, but i am ashamed of what we done when i learn the history we didn't learn in school (and we learn few...and badly), Versailles's Treaty, and what came after...is our fault.
May one day the throne be occupied and the german people going back to reason and sing in chorus "Heil dir im Siegerkranz".
May i am actually hill and a victim of a trauma, over-interpreting 1871's defeat, or may am i just wise and i think clear, but i'll keep loving this old and good Germany that we learned to hate as a devil when we were kids and that we learned, by ourselves, to love after being freed from propaganda and learning the truth.
Our countries, ruined themselves, and now i think : we must, one day, bring good and wise monarchs to rule us, meaning actually, leading us to a proper and great future. Humanity will not perish as long as long as peoples like the Kaiser are here, but where are they now ?!

@Wild Wolf, it's very true. Unfortunately many views, both good and bad, are very misplaced about where the last Kaiser's place in history is... His heart was in the right place and he wanted all the best for Germany and tried very much to avoid war and maintain peace at all costs. What costed him everything though was his instability in thoughts and decisions, somehow he also thought that the English would somehow just see his ways and eventually come around to agreeing with his vision and ambitions, along with some speeches he made which exposed things at times in which it got International Attention that questioned his viability as a leader. If he just stuck to Bismarck's plan and waiting for his chance to revel in the Glory after Bismarck's passing, all would have been great, and he would have Immortalized himself as a great figure, even if he still would have lost the war.

While he worked for peace even at the last minute his generals and ministers were supporting the Austrians in the aim to go to war with Serbia. The men that caused it got of scot free and Hindenburg even became President of the Weimar Republic then installed Hitler as chancellor something the Kaiser would never have done. One day, the true spirit of germany shall rise like a pheonix from the ashes and bring us again an place in the sun, peace, prosperity and strength, to defend ourselves if needed. True true, but doesn't really matter anymore. Look at the youths of Germany nowadays...the demographic development, and of course look at the development in France or the UK too. These people will be gone before the end of the century. Also the US and the other major countries are developing fast in a different route. We're heading for a change of times and many people won't like it but it is inevitable. What you won't see again in the future is this old German spirit of the prosperous and dynamically evolving German empire. Parts of it may have survived all catastrophies of the 20th century, but now it's disappearing for good as the demographics change.

It would be quite lacking in prudence to claim that all other leaders after the Kaiser were "traitors"... For the most part, the only people who hold these views are Royalty descendants or those with serious love for Protestant values, and/or who had deep financial ties and connections to the tribe that loves to eat bagels, and the reason for the Empire and the War is in large part due to how they backstabbed Imperial Germany. This lesson was learned quite well, and it's the reason for what took place after the end of the Weimar Republic... The only reason that leader after Weimar is often despised so much is because many of the Prussian Princes both had envy but also despised how the bagel eaters were dealt with, because they intended on keeping cordial ties and their wealth they gained from the bagel eaters... The Third Reich also excelled MARVELOUSLY in its approach with how it communicated with and united the people, but also excelled in the Expression of the Prussian Spirit far more than even during the Imperial period. They brought back the beautiful glory and legacy of Pagan Spirit. Protestantism is not a good thing for Europe... We are meant to be Pagans. I have a strong belief your views are largely formed on the basis of Protestant biases, especially because of influences Prussia had in Latin America at one point.

One question: What is your source for Wilhelm being interned by the Nazis? I could not find anything stating that.

Thoughts on Kaiser Bill: He was crippled in the left arm by a botched breach delivery. He was, as later diagnosed, bipolar (not good for a near-absolute ruler). He drove himself very hard to overcome many of the obstacles in his path. His relations with this relations was uneven at best; his grandmothers (and paternal grandfather) did give him nurturing. He had too much thrown at him; consequently he turned out as he did. One could not help feel sorry for him personally...

I don't think he was bipolar, as he functioned effectively throughout his life, I think that he was more on the spectrum and perhaps had ADHD, he also had to content with physical disability and partial deafness, in an era when many of these conditions were not well understood or sympathetically treated. This was a massive set of issues to deal with and I think he managed better than could be expected. John C G Roehl did a massive hatchet job on him
