One of the biggest things to me is not big deer but it's about the experience. Knowing and remembering all the stories that come with each one is what it's about. I can remember every situation that I have had. Great video. Thanks

Hey average outdoors-a really nice and easy way to display skull plate racks-paint the skull plate a dark flat color then after it’s on the board, post, plank etc.. spray glue some sheet moss over the skull plate. Just push it around the antler burs. Gives things a more finished natural appearance.

Yall are on the upper end of hunters man, buckets of 4-6 points ain’t nothing to shrug about. Always interesting to see how other southerners hunt their state. Grew up on 180 acres in bama myself and always had those one or two elusive big bucks showing up on cams. Love the fox too, my dad had every critter mounted you could think of lol even a beaver!

Oh yeah we have some cool ones mounted I didn’t show! Red heads, black squirrel, several pheasants and mallards, and several other 120-140 bucks and I didn’t even show my dads Turkey collection lol. It’s tough down here when you’re not in an ag field!

I suppose it depends on where you live as to what is normal. You're trophy room reflects the type of game where you are at. I only have a few deer mounts. Most of my animals are not considered "trophy" by anyone's standards but my own. I try to keep a few representative species around, or if they have good stories. With 10 kids, I now take more pride when they get their animals and often no longer hunt without a young one in tow, allowing them to take the animal. When I bowhunted Colorado, my trophies were mule deer, whitetail, elk, antelope, Lion, black bear, turkey, and big horn sheep. Now that I own a hunting lodge in Alaska the game has changed to blacktail, moose, caribou, grizzly, mountain goat, dall sheep, wood bison, muskox, etc... The small game has changed too. Instead of bobcat and fox, we hunt lynx and wolf. So as you said, everyone's trophy rooms reflect where they hunt, what they value, and often times, their wallet. To each his own.
If you want to come up and grab an over the counter moose, I'm sure we could work it out. Keep Hunting!

That is all very impressive; don't sell yourself short on those great bucks. All the bucks I have shot are little 3x3s and a small 4x3. I even hunt private land too, but there just aren't large one around. Very cool trophy room!!!

Good looking "normal" trophy room. Hunting in NC, I'm probably not going to kill any giants but still enjoy killing them 100" class bucks.
You know, if you put them guys who consistently kill giant bucks in a real mans environment where he works 40+ hrs a week (very limited budget), has small kids or kids in sports, has a wife he loves, and hunts areas never known for giants they would be just like us. Nice video and nice bucks!

I consider myself an average hunter and can relate. In my early years of hunting there were some private lands to hunt and I harvested some nice bucks however those properties are non existent now. It’s all public lands now. I still enjoy hunting but as you get older life’s responsibilities takes up a lot of your time .

I have hunted as many places as I can afford to.....I've hunted New Zealand, Africa and many states. I stare at my PA bucks from my younger years with huge smiles and memories. They are by no means giants but brighten my days. My other trophies are cool but do not make me proud....they were more about the location than the game themselves. Now I live in Wyoming and my money is tight but local real deal hunts still make me proud and excited. Hunting should have stayed as a lifestyle....not a "sport" or "industry". High scoring animals aren't to blame.....but growing and praising them has ruined hunting.

I don't know man, that's pretty far from a "regular hunter's" trophy room. All the regular every day hunters I know only kill like one buck every few years or so, and never any big bucks. A regular hunter's trophy room will have like a few small 6 point racks and maybe an 8 point on the wall and that's about it.

Great trophy room. One thing buddy, that fox, i hate to tell you is NOT a red fox. It IS a heck of a big gray fox, 😆. Im big into predator hunting up here in mid Michigan. I got a gray with my bow about 15 years ago. I would take predator hunting over deer hunting if i could. I live off the meat i kill to save money.

Good job on the video, cowboy. I'm from V. A. Rifle season has been in for about 3 weeks now. I haven't made it out. But I took 2 bucks. One in bow one in Black powder A 6 point or 21 inches. And an eight 21 inch I've taken four eleven pointers I haven't mounted anything yet Waiting for something massive. Wish I had your phone number. We can share pictures. There's been a lot of big deer killed in this area this year. Look up virginia white tail

First 2 are accurate for sure and 1-2 others. B&C scorer scored them for a youth contest. Others are rough scores I did myself. No doubt they’re +-10ish inches. Don’t really care for score too much anyway most of them have better stories behind them that I may never recreate with a 180

If the guys from the south would stop shooting forkys and let the deer age they would have BIG deer

    • @AnAverageOutdoorsman
      @AnAverageOutdoorsman  Год назад

There’s big deer to be had. But there’s a reason deer in the Midwest just grow bigger. You shouldn’t speak if you don’t have knowledge on something. Deer in the south aren’t as big as Midwest not necessarily due to hunters, but the fish and game. Gun season in a lot of Midwest states usually much shorter, and post rut. Another big factor is the climate. It’s referred to as “Bergman’s Rule” which simply states animals in colder climates naturally adapt to be bigger to endure the cold.

I dont say i disagree with you. But we do live in America. If someone wants to protect there 1000 acres and grow giant white tails its ok. It took me 40 years to buy some property on a welders salary after putting 2 kids through college and paying a home off.And all it is is 10 acres for bow hunting. On that 10 acres ive set my own parameters when it comes to harvesting. Lets don't get mad at fellow hunters. we have enough enemies who would love to take away our way of life. Oh by the way congrats on some fine deer taken down through out the years

This video suddenly reminded me of a psychopath who takes someone’s life and keeps an item from the murder as a trophy and a reminder. Don’t get me wrong. I like to hunt and I would like to have a trophy room myself. I just wanted to share this crazy thought with the world.

That's a hoarders trophy room, not a regular hunter. Donate the smaller ones to the local squirrels and keep only the best, the trophies.
