It's interesting that the skin color doesn't change between countries but the interpretation of it does, and that it became such a stark contrast. The book sounds well worth the time - look forward to reading it! Thanks for the review Shea!!
Yea, most definitely. Historically, it ties back to slavery where Black people in America were robbed of their African culture and language. With that, they developed the terms Black and White to describe and divide race in America which puts more emphasis on the color of someone's skin than who and where they may be from. And yes, the book is well worth the time! I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.
Well summarized, thank you sister. I read this book and it's really good work. I also loved how she mentioned the black familly matter in america but it's the same in western. The discovery of women rights and the uses of them.
I think you'd have to read the book to truly understand whether she enjoyed her time in the States. ;) However, I believe she did. I think living in America changed Ifemelu in ways that she couldn't imagine. And yes, although, she was wildly successful in America she travels home where she then has to rediscover her place in Nigeria after being away for so long.
Thank you, it really helped me understand the book and it's intricacies. 🙂
It was a great book review, you're talking style is very sweet and nice

That’s dope. I’ll have to check it out. After reading Americanah, I’m definitely anxious to read Adichie’s other works.

Did she enjoy her stay in the USA? Did she go back home?

Please at least try to pronounce her name correctly.
