    Trainiac Productions completed a chase of Morrisville, Pennsylvania's freight local YPMO-R1. The last time I caught this train, Conrail Operation Lifesaver - Painted GP38-2 #5290 was in the consist. This time, a Conrail blue GP38-2, #5296, was joined by an ex-Southern Railway Hi-Hood GP38-2, #5056. Both have horns characteristic to their previous owners. Starting off at the Toll Brothers siding, we'll see the train pick up a BNSF Centerbeam flat car. After re-coupling to the train, they'll proceed past the Dairy Queen and onto Delmorr Avenue's street running.
    In the 20 minutes or so that it takes for the YPMO-R1 to switch cars out at Staley Corn Syrup, my Dad and I had to stop at the local 7-Eleven to grab motor oil. If we hadn't, our old Dodge Grand Caravan wouldn't have made it for the return chase!
    About the return chase: Revisiting the Dairy Queen grade crossing, we're treated to the outstanding Nathan P3 horn on NS 5056! After they pass by, we jump ahead of the train all the way to Morrisvile Yard. Upon arrival at the New Jersey Transit end of the huge facility, the YPMO-R1 crosses a switch, and drops off 3 RailBox boxcars at the ProBuild lumber yard. Then, the train heads back to Conrail Shared Assets Morrisville Yard.

    No problem -- thanks for the correction on 5056! It's a shame the only horn action from the Conrail unit was like that, though. I bet that thing would sound good at full blast!

    I'm a big Conrail fan, now NS is my go to railroad. I used to see them hauling coal up through New England to Bow NH. The flare trick was pretty crazy, but it is just as good as the gates coming down while the train is crossing?! Great video, thanks for posting.

    @TrainiacProductions, all Southern Railway locomotives had electrically operated solenoid valves. N&W units didn't, and Conrail units didn't either.

    Nice, I notice the crossing gates always go down as the train is on the crossing, You better check that out buddy, lol. Hey where does it go after if clears the Arch Bridge and exits the street. I caught 1 NS there, Pretty cool street railing, Liked it for sure.

    Nice video! Actually, I heard that there are still a few Conrail Blues out there! One of them is on the Finger Lakes Railroad. It has the Finger Lakes Railroad logo on the train, but you can still see a little bit of the Conrail Logos on that train. The next one is on the Escanaba and Lake Superior Railroad. That railroad has the train still painted with the Conrail Blue Scheme. Some of the logo is gone, but there is a pretty decent amount of Conrail Logo on the side of the train. Finally, there is a Conrail Locomotive with the Conrail Blue Paint Scheme, but it’s under the Norfolk Southern Heritage Units List. Those are all of the locomotives that I know that still have the Conrail Blue Paint Scheme on them. I hope this helps!

    and did the engineer just throw out flaers?

  • @Hail2Pitt412
    @Hail2Pitt412 15 лет назад

    It actually doesnt its a RS3L being blown lightly not to hurt the conductors ears when throwing flares.

  • @TrainiacProductions
    @TrainiacProductions  12 лет назад

    LOL yeah I still don't know if they fixed that or not... I think sometimes they'll stop and wait for the crossing to activate.. I guess it's a different situation each time Lol... but after the arch bridge and going off the street they go down to the Staley plant (corn syrup) and work the little yard they have down there. Thanks for lookin', Matt!! How'd ya like the music at the beginning? LOL

    I believe it is possible to still get a job with Conrail. The crews that work the local "Shared Assests" jobs work for "Conrail Shared Assests". For example: The train that runs by me is CA-51. The CA-51 crew works for Conrail. It is true that "Conrail" does not own any engines. I believe they rent them from CSX and Norfolk Southern. Anyways, very nice video! Sounds like the horn needs some more...;)

  • @Hail2Pitt412

    Conrail actually can revert. If the Shared Assets Get Big Enough Again, Conrail can Buy itself back. Which is possible.

  • @MrZeldalove
    @MrZeldalove 6 лет назад

    Aside from the SD40, the GP38's are my favorite freight locomotives. They can do it all - local freight switching, yard work, and if you lash a few up them up, they can get a heavy freight well in hand and they don't beat up the track.

    Who would have to pay for crossing gates at that level crossing where they throw flares a 1:50? The company that owns the line or the city?

    Permission To stare and Grin? Anyways, Good Lord! Is everything good going to Morrisville these days? Now a HH and CR lash-up? I wonder if ill get to see something like this, and even more STREET RUNNING! Damn do you have me cleaned up now..
