The problem Zion has is the damage to his legs has already been done from a half decade plus of playing 40-60 pounds above his ideal weight. Even if he matures and maintains an ideal size hes going to be vulnerable until the day he retires.

Yeah, it seems the reason of how he reacted was because whatever he experienced was an old trauma that he immediately recognised that came back. Moreover, if that old trauma is something that is repeatedly occurring then he know that he has to stop playing otherwise that probably from experience will throw him out for many weeks. If that is true and the injury is serious then he won't be back for Friday. But, if he is back, then that would probably mean he had a bad judgment for the severity of the issue and missed the opportunity to grab the win.
