Oh! I have slipped the surly bonds of Earth And danced the skies on laughter-silvered wings; thanks for sharing Andy 👌🏻😎
What a great experience flying with you . Its great to see your other hobbies not just motorbike oriented. Thanks for taking us along 😀👍
My pleasure!
Great to see the Missenden Flyer actually flying!
Thanks for watching!
Great video. You have certainly got the essence of Super Cub flying. That is also a very well kept aircraft. When you’ve got happy with this one, add a Tiger Moth to your menu. That will be a very simple conversion as there are even less controls. If I may comment: 1. Keep your left hand on the throttle when taking off. You were two hands on the stick at about lift off. 2. Ditch the knee board ASAP. Use a pen on a half/quarter mil if you need to take notes.
Top tip for the future, if you sideslip to the right with the door open (like you might on a hot day when doing multiple launches at a gliding club), slide open the left hand window. If you don’t, the left-hand window blows out and you have to do the walk of shame to pick it up from the undershoot. Errm… how do I know?
Great tips Trevor thanks!! …and are you kidding about this being a well kept aircraft??!! …and yes love the Tiger Moth, only flown p2 in it thus far…
@@TheMissendenFlyer “Well kept” is a relative term. You should fly a tug at gliding club. You have to wipe your feet on the way out. One good thing, they had none of that useless radio nav. stuff. Ours just used to have a VHF radio and a transponder - two boxes too many.
Love it!
I’ll probably never get to have that experience any other way. Great job!
Happy 2022!
Excellent video! This one took me way back to about 1976 when I flew in a private light aircraft for the first time, and it was in a Piper Cub. Lovely! Keep the flying videos coming. They’re always nice to see.
Great, enjoyed your talk through what you were doing, thanks. Keep them coming.
Will do Ray!
Brilliant, very interesting Andy. Keep the flying vids coming as well as the biking stuff!
Willco Tom
These are always appreciated…great insight on flying…thanks

Thanks Peter…
Outstanding flying coverage.Love it.Thanks.
Thanks for watching!
Nice one. I enjoyed watching you going up . I'm glad you now where the airfield was. I can't see it. Looking forward to seeing more flying plus the bikes too. Big 👍 up.
Yes when you first start out with flying finding the airfield can be a huge cause of stress! Luckily it gets easier with experience (and these days GPS!)
Fascinating insight Andy, well done
Glad you enjoyed it Mark - thanks for watching!
Great video, thanks for sharing 👍

Enjoyable - and relaxing. Gorgeous views. That camera worked great there. Fantastic!

Yes it's good in the aeroplane isn't it....
Fantastic video.. more of them 👍
Great skills Andy, your the man. And what a lovely back to basics aircraft. I can't tell you how much I enjoyed coming up there with you. Thank you. Nice day for it too.
Thank you Ian - glad you enjoyed it!
Liked that, nice camera angles as well thanks
Glad you enjoyed it Alan!
I really enjoyed that video. I normally watch your channel for the bike reviews, which I am fond of.
As recently retired 744 captain and an ex flying instructor with some time in a super cub and other tail draggers I was very impressed, well done.
Thank you Gordon!
Brilliant upload. You are a braver man than me that plane looks like it's made from a meccano set!! 🤘🤘
Enjoy your flying vids. Nice landing, I would say you nailed it !
Thank you - rather glad I caught that one on camera!
This video brought back some memories.
When I was 15, I have flown on one of this Supercub, of the F.A.P. (Portuguese Air Force).
Terrifying at first, but rather fun.
Thanks for that!
Keep flying/riding
Willco!
Don't loose the wings, have a pleasant flight... 👍🛫
Loved that. I like these sort of videos Andy
Glad to hear it Chris - me too!
Love these flying vids, really interesting to watch...looking foward to the next one.
Glad to hear that - cheers!
Love the flying videos TMF! I am amazed at how much farmland there seems to be in that area. Sweet plane.
Yes and they say Britain is crowded!
Very impressive great video again what a great thing to be able to do thanks for sharing brilliant 👍
Yes it's a real privilege to be able to fly for sure - great hobby.....
Great effort Andy love the camera work as it's like we are in the plane also.

Thank you Donna - glad you noticed!
Great flying Andy. That brings back some memories 👍
Thank you and glad to prompt some memories!
Thanks so much for sharing Andy, what a beautiful little aeroplane! Amazing visibility from the cockpit, I used to make balsa and tissue paper model planes and they were often based on the cub.
Yes me too….usually ended up crashing them though!
@@TheMissendenFlyer yeah same - mine usually took weeks to build and had an operating life of about 30 seconds
Following for the bike vids but enjoy the flying. Cheers and take care
both motorcycle and flying videos top notch andy nice work
Cheers Allan
Bravo, congrats & welcome to the brotherhood of Cub pilots!
Thank you!
love the flying videos, keep them coming
Glad you like them - sadly they don't get many views but I'll no doubt include the odd bonus one from time to time....
Enjoyed that, felt like I was in there with the great camera views
Looking forward to the next flight video
Thanks Graham
Nicely done Flyer.
Thank you kindly
Great video ! never had a clue you were doing this, but I am a mushroom..it was a lot of fun watching !!! thanks for the journey!
Well I am The Missenden Flyer!

Willco
Ahh, stick and rudder. That brings back old memories. Thanks for sharing. 🙂
My pleasure Arthur!
Nice update. Definitely like the the instagram 360 camera views. 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Good isn’t it!
Gotta love those heel brakes! I am a Certified Flight Instructor and former Motorcycle Safety Instructor in the USA and a Citabria and Champ guy myself. Subscribed and been watching your stuff for at least a year now. Keep up the good work I alway enjoy your content and the occasional aviation stuff is appreciated.
Great stuff Jay - cheers!
Interesting video and excellent landing👌
Thankyou Gerry!
Any landing you can walk away from is a good landing lol !! Looked like a great day weather wise
I enjoyed that! Nice landing too.
Thank you!
I Love these flying video's, really informative and lovely to see the world from a different perspective.
Glad you like them!
Having watched you with the gang yesterday I’m amazed at what you do with the planes, it looks like multi tasking at its best, thanks TMF
Hehe, I think that was meant as a compliment!! Cheers!! 👍
Really enjoyed that, obviously a man of many talents 👍👍👍👍👍
Thank you Pete - with your name I hope you are a pilot??
Well done andy, great vlog.
Thank you for watching….
Well done Andy really interesting and a great landing. 👍
Thank you for watching!
Another great flying video. Really gave the feeling that we were sharing your flying. 360 camera gave a fantastic view and your commentary gave a real flavour of the cubs special handling characteristics. Thanks again for sharing your great film.
My pleasure David!
Absolute greaser of a landing mate very nicely done.
Thanks Mark - I was happy to catch that one on camera!
Great video Andy and some nice editing with the 360 camera. Flying vids always appreciated 👍
Back to basics flying the same reason I like classic bikes, I'm surprised you haven't got one in the garage yet, excellent video keep them coming.
Yes there’s a lot to be said for simple!
Never gets old! 🙋♂️
Defo a great landing. 👍
ANDY I enjoyed that flight with you. More please, thanks.
Will see what I can do!
Reminds me of my gliding days. Great stuff.
Loved this 😀 Wanted to learn to fly for years. Excellent landing, and great narrative, despite the crackly radio.
Thank you Miles - glad you enjoyed it!
Bloody awesome, I never knew you flew. It's one of the best activities in life. I passed my paramotor licence last year, felt awesome. Like you bikes and flying is a passion. Well done.
There’s a clue in my channel name 😘
Great entertainment, well done Andy.👍
Thank you Simon!
Hi Andy
Wow nice one. Welcome to the tail staggers club. So much more fun to fly than modern glass cockpit nose wheeled planes.
I used to fly a 1945 Aeronca Champ (which you had to hand prop start 😳) when I lived in Texas. Loved that plane.
Great landing. Make sure to keep up the fast tap dancing on the pedals. 👍🏻
Willco!
That was very exciting.👍
Glad you enjoyed it
Even though it a motorbike channel, I for for one love this type of video. Great flight and thanks for taking us along.
My pleasure!
Ain’t nothing like flying off a grass runway, doing so in the Cub was just a bonus. Cheers. 👍
I love it when you make flying videos. I love motorcycles and airplanes… seeing one of my favorite motorcycle RUclipsrs flying an airplane is fantastic. I’ve loved Piper Cubs since I was a kid. The traditional yellow ones are the best! I love all the different camera angles. Love hearing the chatter on the radio. Excellent use of the 360 action camera. Perfect for this application. I’m sure the editing took forever.
Cheers Cliff - yes the editing is a pin and I’m yet to master it, but that 360 camera is brilliant in the aeroplane!
Always good to see some plane action 😎
Flying vids are a very welcome break for some of us that watch too much motorcycle content, so a big thank you!
Thank you for watching’
Lovely video ( I'm a non flyer ) great to watch and enjoy .. nearest I've been to a super cub was a small honda in the 70s ! 🏍 .. thanks for sharing 👍🏻☮♥️
Thank you for watching - I’m really glad you found it if interest!
Keep ‘em coming Mr Flyer!! 😁👍🏻👏🏻🙃
Willco!
Andy, thank you for sharing your first solo with us. Great landing. I had thought about getting my ,licence a few years Ago, but decided not to as I was simply too busy. Perhaps a mistake. My uncle flew in the RAF in the war and was awarded the DFC,. I hope to get a tour in a Spitfire in the next year or so. Stay well.
Well my first solo in the cub of course (sort of)….I had flown a few solo circuits before….
Like the bike vids, but love the flying ones and that is a beautiful airplane! Thank for taking us with you TMF.
Great to hear - thanks Tony!
Brilliant Andy enjoyed that
Good to hear Chris!
Superb video ! nice looking aircraft, love the views. I had a 25 minute aerobatic experience last week in a Murdy CAP10 at Headcorn, another tail wheel aircraft. love the videos, motorcycle or aircraft, keep 'em coming.
Sounds like fun - and will do!
Good show👍
Thanks Andy a great experience...she looks great for her age what a difference from the other one you fly i hope you do get chance to fly her again soon....cheers.
Thanks Clive - one aborted attempt due weather since I made this video 😔
I had a 1946 Cessna 140 for 36 years and flew all over the USA! LOVE TAIL DRAGERS! WIFE pressured me to sell it 4 years after I retired, miss having it!
Oh dear, sorry to hear that Ron. I used to love flying holidays in the US with the mrs (pre 9/11)....sadly those won't happen again!
Awesome, the piper cub is one of my favs on flightsim :)
Cool! Great bit of software that - very realistic and a great training tool….
Enjoyed that :)
Love the flying, takes me back to my Chipmunk days. The Chippy had a slightly improved ground handling system where you can get the wheel brakes to apply at the extreme ends of the rudder travel, so that saved a few embarrasing moments! I got used to 'wheeler' landings, I found the visibilty was much better, just lowering the tail when all the elevator authority ran out. You had to get the speeds right of course and landing at Liverpool, in between the EasyJet 737's, they wanted you 'keep your speed up' and get off the runway. 'Memories are better than dreams'. Keep it up Andy.
Sounds great Mark - would love a go in a chippy!
As ever a great video. After a 10 year break I'm renewing my PPL down the road at Halton Aero Club and going through the same emotions!
Fabulous - Halton is technically my nearest airfield, I wish there was a way us mere mortals could fly out of there!
Love the flying vids as much as the biking ones Andy. I am not a pilot but I have learned so much about flying through these. Thanks.
Wow that’s great Steve thanks!
Bit of a death-grip on the stick there (2 hands even)! Finger and thumb does it in the Cub. I flew taildraggers for 35 years (mostly Chipmunk - get a flight in one of those and you won't want to ever fly anything else again), but I did fly the L4 Cub, Supercub, Citabria, Jungmann, Tiger Moth, Stampe and more... I loved the basic L4 (military J3) more than the Super Cub as it was flown from the back seat and always with the side open. What a view! The lower door was an excellent AoA indicator on landing - just before a perfect 3-pointer it would float up level! The little 65 horse Continental ran like a sewing machine - provided you kept an eye on carb heat. All the best bars should have a 65 horse Conti and a Bristol Proteus - the best ice makers known to man!
With simple taildraggers like these (when used to them) you can chuck away that checklist. A left to right cockpit check following the walk-round is all you need. These are simple aeroplanes!
Try a wheeler instead of 3-pint when you are ready. I taught myself these in the Chippy and they are dead easy. ease it on tail high and as soon as the mains tough PIN IT with a dash of forward stick (don't worry - the prop won't strike), keep it straight with rudder (don't attempt this until your feet are 'tailwheel happy as loosing directional control at this speed will not be fun). But your feet will soon learn and you won't even have to think about it.
Next is high speed taxying with tail up - I used to do this at Liverpool in the Chippy if it was a long taxy to the hold. Your feet really do need to be in top shape for this! But hey, 35 years of taildragging, now retired, and I never ever ground looped! Saw a few, though.
And make sure you have a go at aerobatics! I don't think I ever felt fully in control of any aeroplane until I'd taken beyond the envelope and back. Teaches you to fly by feel and by what you can see - outside! You will not be a stall / spin victim (base to final turn) if you are current in aeros.
Nice landing! But hold the stick hard back after touchdown throughout the roll-out and until the engine stops. Helps avoid ground loops and the AoA cannot decrease so the wing will not fly, which is what you want.
If I keep practising, though, one day I'll be as relaxed on a bike as I was in the aeroplane. I do envy the ease with which you take to all the bikes you ride.
I don't have many videos of my flying, but here's one my elder daughter took from the back seat of the Chippy landing at Liverpool on a horrid day (glide approach, as I often did). ruclips.net/video/RpBQeA0nmIs/видео.html
Vince
Thanks for that lot Vince….interesting reading!
I really like your airborne films. They definitely are really well timed and filmed they ad so much more variety in a crowded space on You Tube. Big thumbs up from me and keep the aerial experiences coming! If I said Super Marine would I be giving the game away lol??!
Now that would be something!
Wow you have mastered the art, enjoyable video. Off subject spoken before about te need for a SFV2 guessing one may be heading to Missenden soon lol. Thanks Andy
I must admit the thought had crossed my mind!
