I've only been on the great lakes twice and that's enough for me. I prefer to be on calm rivers....the scenery is so beautiful too . I look forward to your next boating adventure.
That means so much to me! When I first bought a GoPro, I thought I was probably going to be the only one that wanted to watch the videos… But I turned it into a thing and it makes me so happy that people are enjoying my adventures. It also REALLY brings me joy knowing I’m inspiring others to paddle!
Safety first! I’ll be spending more time on the Great Lakes, but using extreme caution, and only going out when the conditions are ideal. Thanks for watching!
Yes glad to see that you did this. I have several Great Lakes shoreline trips planned, but have yet to do any of them. It’s easier to catch those optimum weather moments if you live close by. I think I am ready but one thing that helped me with confidence, was to learn and practice wet exit and self rescue, even though everyone needs practice with those - my problem down here in Missouri is that it’s really tough to find flat water touring classes, and even when I did sign up for one this past summer, it got cancelled because not enough people signed up. And, even though the sea kayak symposiums that Rutabaga puts on sound fun, it’s kind of expensive. AI have heard launching in Door County is fun, you can play the wind there because if it’s not good on the bay side, you can paddle the lake side if the wind is better. Lots of scenic rocky shoreline too. Can’t wait to see what other videos you have!
It does help that I’m not far from the Great Lakes because you really have to get out there when conditions are ideal. Even then I am very cautious. Stay tuned, I have so many more adventures. I have yet to edit and post over the winter. Thanks for watching!
Pleased you where able to make it out on the great lake and to over come your fear.s it,s always best to play safe and stay inshore have a good weekend and take care 👍👍
I watched quite a few videos on self rescue, but have not practiced it enough. I would like to take an in person course or at least try it on my own in a safe environment. Can’t be too prepared for the unexpected.
6:06 Someone likes the Dark Side of the Moon album, as they should. There is so much beautiful beach where you are. Is there a noticeable tide in the Great Lakes? They are freekin' huge. It shows how little I know of the middle of our country. LOL
No tide on the Great Lakes but the wind can create waves as big as the ocean. You really have to respect those lakes and only go out in favorable conditions.
Lady in Red Kayak you are awesome and very Pretty ( sorry) with you on the Big Lake it brought back my younger Years growing up on Lake Erie in a 12 foot boat going to Put in Bay. And visiting those Big Boat To. Thanks so much. My I fellow you other Site? Your Kayak looks very Fast. Thanks for the Video. Gory
Thanks for watching! (RUclips is my only platform so far) I have heard good things about Put in Bay. I’ll do a little more research and that might end up on my bucket list. So many adventures. I have already planned for next season, stay tuned!
Lake Superior has been on my bucket list for a long time and I don’t know why I haven’t gotten there yet. Next year I WILL get to Bayfield! Thanks for watching!
@@mikeb1039 for years I used a standard 220 cm paddle. When I wanted to upgrade to an ultra lightweight, all carbon paddle the folks at the paddle sport expo convinced me that with a boat as narrow as mine and with me having a shorter wingspan, (I am only 5’3”), that a 210 cm paddle would be a better fit. By God they were right! it also has a bent shaft for reduced stress on your wrists. My Cadence paddle only weighs 21 ounces. It was a bit pricey, but worth every penny!
I’ll definitely be going on the Great Lakes more… You just have to have a whole lot of respect for them and watch your conditions. Thanks for watching!
Thank you! I’ve been out on the Great Lakes one or two times since. So long as you respect the lakes and only go out under ideal conditions, I will definitely be doing it more.
Beautiful lady beautiful lake beautiful kayak
Great video
Thanks and thanks for watching!

Thanks for watching! I will be revisiting the Great Lakes, but will carefully monitor the conditions before I decide to venture out on them.
I always enjoy and am inspired by you adventures. As a cat sailor in Clear Lake, Ia I think you are special.

I had a chance to do it a few times since then, and I look forward to hitting the Great Lakes some more. Thanks for watching!
Have you ever taken a course on self rescue? Do you have a paddle float and a pump?
Or rescue with a partner which is so much easier.

@@Redkayaklady a class in th4 winter in an indoor pool worked well for me.

I envy you,,, I paddle a canoe , and would love to paddle Lake Superior

That's an interesting paddle. The bends and seems very short. I paddle on my SUP quite a bit and that shorter length looks just right.

I enjoy reading boat names paddling marinas. Beautiful sail boats at 4:30 & 4:45.
There are some creative names out there! (all of my kayaks have names, and that one is Salacia) Thanks for watching!
Roman Goddess of seas & springs. Wife of Neptune. Interesting!@@Redkayaklady
