Rob, imo, is THE best RUclips drum educator. Cool as hell, super knowledgeable, great playing style etc...
Great job. Love those Paistes too!
Rob is the man.
Best Dark Energy review. For a second I was like "Oh, a DE Swish!" but then saw the Masters logo.
Well, there's (was) a Signature Traditionals Swish, and that's kind of the slightly trashier cousin to the DE series :)
Nice, I have that Traditionals and keep thinking "ah... one of the others must be trashier..."
Yeah Rob, I play those Dark energy cymbals as well. I have a Mark 2 ride, a mark 1 ride 18 & 16" crashes with some older Sound Formula crashes & splashes. I have a Traditional flat ride that many players remark about. That cymbal is the best ride I've ever heard they say. I play Sonor Designer series drums. Green birds eye maple. Beautiful looking, sounding drums. I rented them to Jack Dejonnette years ago for a gig he had in the foothills outside Denver. He told me he had the same exact kit at home. You are right about your rig making you want to play. Love your thing Rob. Keep up the good work.
Man, that particular 21" ride he's playing is really great.
The dark energy series are hands down the best cymbals I've ever owned/played. Paiste raised the bar with these.
These cymbals sound great !! Paiste needs to come out with a box set for these so the working drummer does not have to take out a second mortgage to get a set of them and i can afford to buy any of them i want but geez they are super expensive ! Great video Rob !
Best HiHats in the World! I was at Thomann and tried mostly every HiHat pair. When i heard the Dark energys, I was blown away and bought them. Never regret my decision. Love them.
Yes, he is awesome!
I just started my collection of these with the ordering of the 15” hats!
This video makes me want to buy these cymbals. They're everything I want in cymbals. Your the man Rob!
I've had my DE family for over a dozen years and it feels so proper to play these. What a joy and sense of satisfaction it is to play these pies.
I love putting a moongel on my 19" crash just below the bell to dry it up as a light ride.
Its fun stacking my 10" DE splash on my old, Paiste Sound Formula 10" splash for a wicked, buzzing fx unit.
Hey Rob, I'm Rob as well, and your assessment of these cymbals is spot on! I agree with everything you said I've had every Zildjian, great set of AAX HHX SABIANS and I was about to go to MEINL But I just could not find the sound I was looking for UNTIL I heard these!!!! OMG, they are amazing!
This was an excellent demo video. Context, clarity, everything! Thank you Rob.
I've watched a few of Brown's videos, he's a good teacher! Dark Energies are perfect for his style 👍
Agree. I like them much more than the modern essentials
Thank you Rob!! Great video! Paiste is second to none and the Dark Energy line is the most musical of any cymbals on the planet! The Hattori Hanzo sword of cymbals!!
Rob has taught me so much just from his youtube videos. Paiste is my favorite cymbal company so this duo is a win!
I've learned so much about jazz playing and you've helped me ,and now my son, understand jazz better. You also have fantastic taste in cymbals. Dimension hi hats over and I love these dark energy
The best cymbal demo I've seen in a long time! Thank you so much. I'll getting this package...
Just put in an order for those Paiste Dark Energy H-Hats 15". Can not wait!. Really enjoy your content, keep those rhythms coming!
They all sound beautiful 🥁🔥
I happened upon these cymbals by pure luck. I have always used either Paiste or the Z word. LOL But when I heard these Dark Energy Cymbals, they just fit into so many situations I was playing in. This coming from a Sig line lover and 2002 Worshipper. But these kind of stand alone which is so cool. Not so dark they sound like trash can lids, but rather they have air and space around them. May not make sense but it does to me. Enjoy your videos RB.
I love Paiste also! I switched from Zildjian about four months ago. Best decision ever. I use the big beat 2002, and giant beat hats hello
When I heard the crash cymbals my mouth literally dropped. I think I'm in love, y'all 👀
My man making the case for EXCELLENCE!
Rob is the man!!! 🤘🏼🤘🏼🤘🏼
Excellent video Rob. Well done.
Love this line of Paiste! I'm going to get the same Dark Energy Mark i ride in the store soon.
My first proper cymbals were 4 Paiste Alpha cymbals and i loved them.
One of the best commercial video for cymbals i have seen. Those cymbals sound amazing to me ,even though i am a Zildjian fan.
I love Robs videos, his playing is superb and I'd love to have a beer with him to discuss our common love of Paiste!
I have the hi-hat and a 8 inch splash. I love the dark energy series, it is just taken a while to get the full set as it's crazy expensive. As a drummer we all know symbols are probably the most expensive part on your set so I get it. It's gonna be 2 years before I have the full setup like this LOL. You can't deny how amazing they sound though, but dark energy series series has always been my top goal to apply to my entire drum set. One piece at a time.
These and the 602 modern essentials are my favorites.
GREAT VIDEO.
I have the DE 21 DarkDry.
Sooo Controllable.
I'm in the middle of purchasing several Masters.
After those are paid off I'm going with the 17 & 19 DE Crashes.
In full agreement Rob, Dark energy’s are my favorites of all my PAiSTe cymbals, I don’t have a 20” DE crash, but looking to get one soon ..❤️
I love Paiste DE hats..... I have a set of 14s and I'm gonna add those 15s.
And that Masters Swish to Rob's far right is a gem and one of my very favorite cymbals on my kit.... just the right amount of trashiness without the harshness of a china. With a solid glance of the stick.... it sounds like a wave breaking on the beach.
Excellent review👍
Fã Paiste Brasil 🇧🇷🤟🤟🤟 show demais 😍😍
Always loved the dark energy line
Can we have a Paiste Dark Energy or Paiste Masters Dark china cymbal.
At least 13 people here would consider buying one if you did paiste!
The 602 modern essentials chinas are pretty spectacular .. probably the kind of sound you'd want from a Dark Energy or Masters series
There was Paiste dark energy china as prototype in 18",19" & 20" format.
Love my Paistes! From the DE series, I "only" have the 13" hats and 8/10 splashes which must be the best splashes on the planet!
Oh wait! I'm subscribed to both Beatdown Brown and the Paiste channel, and thought this was on his channel! Thought it was strange he just realeased two videos in a row ;)
Sound great
I have the Signature Traditionals medium light hi hats and the dark energy ride mark 1, wouldn't trade for anything else.
I have the Dark Energy Mark II 20" ride and yes, it's really good. Somewhat darker (sound and look) than mark I, but it still has that mix of bright and dark, which gives it a quite distinct character. I had a phase when I was looking for "the" ride, and went through about 10 high-end rides, and this is what I stuck with.
Is it crashable? I'm stuck between the DE Mark II 20" and the 602 Modern Essentials 20" ride.
@@user-gh9iw1of2y Yea, it's crashable. I guess you can find vids about. I'm not familiar with 602 cymbals, but heard they are great also...
Paiste is my favorite brand in cymbals because they sound different than all the other brands no matter what.
The ride 👌
MA MAN 🔥
Yes the greatest sounding cymbals ever created! Bonham would have loved these! Man Paiste, these things are exxxxxxpennnnnnnSIVE! Hook a brother up would ya? Sheesh!
Nice !!
Paiste ❤️❤️❤️
I've been thinking for a while now I need to get these. I have Masters Thins which are cool - but I think these darks are more me.
Yeah. Get Down Beat Down. Sounding Good like you should.
Those definitely sound good for your type of drumming. Me personally I am more of a classic rock/hard rock guy so I use a combination of signature full crashes and 2002 crashes, mediums and thin crashes but I do use the dark energy 15 and 14 mark 1 Hi hats for most stuff. Have some other Paiste hats but love those D E. like a fat kid loves cake!!! I'll tell you a nice combination is a 15" giant beat bottom with a 15 2002 sound edge top. Keep groovin baby. #WefUNKRadioYall
Enough said!!!
Amazing how 15 inch hi hats have the articulation of 13s. I might be sold on larger hats!
Rob! Are you currently using the same line up? Great playing good Sir!
Well Rob , I tried the sweet ride , transition ride , ping ride , not happy , I watched this video, saw a 22 inch mark 1 ride on sale , got it , u were right , love it , thanks for the advice, I was wondering those black acoustic things u have hanging on wall , do they work or just look nice ? I play in a very small room with plenty of junk in it but am wondering if those would be a good idea
😎👍🇨🇭🔊🎼 PAISTE!!!
Minha linha preferida da Paiste é a Giant Beat. meu sonho é ter todos os pratos da Giant Beat um dia . de preferência o hats de 15 .crash 19 ,18 17 e um Ride de 22.🤟🇧🇷👊👊👊
Beautiful buddy.
Do u have any for sale??
Rob, can you let us know when you figure out why there's a Mark I on every non-ride model but no Mark II?
I see a splash, hihats, a ride, and 4 crashes. Do you use two crashes of the same size? The list in description only has 3 crashes. I really don’t see Paiste in my area. Mainly Zildjian or Sabian. And Meinl. Started with used Zildjian I series. Stepped up to Zildjian K Sweet. World of difference. But I’m sure Zildjian has something comparable to the Paiste Dark Energy. Thinking of getting either A Custom or K Custom Dark as an extra set. Not sure yet. Some of the artists I follow over the years changed from Sabians to Paiste. Of course, they have endorsements. 😂
Otherwise I’d need to hear the Paiste cymbals in person. Hard to do when the 3 music stores I frequent don’t carry them. Unless it’s the occasional used cymbal.
And just imagine if that 22 swish was a DE instead of a masters ;)
Hey Rob, I seen they have a Paiste Signature Dark Energy 22" MK II ride what is the difference between it and the Paiste Signature Dark Energy 21"MKI Ride? Why did you change? Please advise. Thank you.
I'd gladly give up Mark 1's for Mark 2's, but I'm a bright cymbal kind of guy. Also a Paiste Stan, but I love Sabians.
Some day Dark Energy. I just went from RUDE to Signature, Giant Beat and PSTX. So much PAiSTe to explore...
The dark energy cymbals are in a class of there own.The other cymbal manufacturers make great cymbals as well, but to my ears they don't sound like these. Are they expensive you bet ya,but in this case I believe you get what you pay for,and I don't say that lightly.!!! These are the cream of the crop.!
If i wanted the basics of a hihat, 2 crashes and a ride which sizes should i choose? Thanks, rob.
I'd suggest Mark 2's over Mark 1's where you can. I have a 20" and 22" Mark 1 rides and I don't like them.
What is the difference between Mk 1 and Mk 2 cymbals?
The paiste hats sound phenomenal but my drummer at church has a pair of new beats that sound like God personally made them himself
Zildjian for life
Paiste is fine but there not zildjian
Zildjian hat + Paiste ride/crashes is my pick
Sure, those cymbals sound great...But let's talk about that snare! 🏆
Really dig the hihats and the ride. The crashes are too gong like for me.
It's a shame that the 20 crash of this line Is dead ☹️
I would mitch match a few different lines from Paiste.
Rob Brown does that. He uses masters as well
crashing with trad grip looks parapalegic
Are we going to ignore cymbal abuse at 3:30? ;)
Obviously, you haven't tried the Paiste Traditional 14" and 15" hi hats -- which would disprove your assertion that "the Signature Dark Energy hi hats "are the best sounding hi hats in the universe." There are no "best" hi hat cymbals.
Phenomenal player
THat left hand crash looks looks so lame weak and crippled. :LOLOL. Now let's you you ride on that side. That will be hilarious
