whenever i walk into my job full of ignorant dickheads, i think back to happy times, and reminisce and think of that sad old man.. however, i like my job, i like interacting with these aggressive children i work with.. it is good to build a thicker skin.
this is such a perfect mix. if my heart could get goosebumps and had hair it'd look like a hedgehog. unimaginably beautiful music, as it always is here
I have a love and hate relationship with sad post rock because I love how it brings out the deepest of thought and emotion I'd even include memories that I have and I hate post rock like this because it reminds me of many things that hurt me then and still kinda do like regrets, fond memories that are a distant memory or of my sister who unfortunately passed away due to cancer but it's a relationship like this that has shaped the very man I am today and has helped me see parts of life differently with respect , appreciation and maturity.
I usually tend to end on this video on my sad moments. It´s curious how sad music could calm a sad mood, I have to thank to Post Rock in general and to Worldhaspostrock in particular for bringing us this compilations which I like to call my mental refuge.
@Chibi God Sadness tends to root deeply on people, you don't know is there but when you less expect, it overcomes you. You are right, this type of music or the company of a closeup person that ease you are the best things on those moments.
And here we are again... day 2 of 2022 and I'm here to give my mind some release of all this dark and sad thoughts I've got. Nothing better than this channel to help us to deal with daily shit.

Godspeed You Black Emperor - Sleep... it's so sad in the end of the prologue when the man says "Things change.. They don't sleep anymore on the beach."
I realize this is a sad post-rock compilation, but that part where the vocals come in on the Yndi Halda song has to be one of the most uplifting and jubilant moments I've heard in music.
its so weird when you feel sad one of the things that everybody wants to do is listen to sad music to become even more sadder, at least that´s true for me

i got this notification at 5 in the morning as i woke up and i was like, "Post-rock, i love you but no i will not start the morning with you today bby i'm sorry"
Currently crying my eyes out and hyperventilating and this music is my only comfort. That and my cat. She genuinely is the only being that cares about me at the moment.
There's just so much sadness in that recording at the start of Sleep. Sadness about the permanence of the passing of time, nostalgia...every time I listen to it, it hits me hard. Overall a great selection. I'm surprised nothing off We Lost The Sea's album Departure Songs made it on the compilation, it's so intense and so sad, especially when you know the story behind each of the songs. You can really hear the emotions in the music. By the way as an idea for a future compilation - what about a compilation of the most apocalyptic post-rock songs, the songs that make you feel like the world is ending? Like Rockets Fall by Godspeed, for example.
Trees and GYBE rip through me every time. The Dead Flag Blues was my introduction to postrock at a very dark point in my life, I will never forget that first listen.
It's one of my favourite Godspeed songs. It has such an intense apocalyptic yet melancholy feeling. Like the end of the world is coming yet everyone is okay with it because it's inevitable...I can't really describe the feelings in words. But that's the beauty of music, isn't it -- you don't need words.
That Sleep Dealer's song always takes me into an old picture that I lived some years ago, everythin was so grey, blue and green. The cold wind was the warmer I ever felt. That was a perpetual katarsis and I'm glad to see this song in this list remembering those times that I thought would never die
Sometimes I think of moments of my past.. moments I could've changed, moments that would've made my life just a tad bit happier. Idk why I feel so empty sometimes.. I want to be happy and at times, I can be. It's not often that I feel sadness. When I do, I think to myself "what is life going to be like from here? Will I ever truly be ready for my death? Will I ever be satisfied with myself?" I wish to be content when that time comes, but I'm unsure if that'll even happen.. I'm afraid to love because I know they'll all disappear with time.. I want to also be loved but I feel I don't deserve it. I judge myself too much and overthink too many things to let things just be... I wish I were someone else but at the same time. I'm thankful I'm at least me and not someone worse. I'm thankful I can have empathy. I'm thankful just to be alive. But what is life without a reason to experience it? I want to know my reason. I'm well aware that life in itself has no reason and I just exist.. I mean I do want to make up my own reason, one that will make me happy and everyone else around me. I want to be able to make a difference so everyone can see what I'm truly worth. But for now, in my eyes, I see nothing worth keeping.. there's always an aspect that can be traded. There's always a reason to find someone better. I'm not the best at anything and I know it. I'm not even the best person I can be. With my own philosophies being the anchor in my life, those philosophies typically result in the judgement of myself. I wonder what it's like to be blissful sometimes...
I think that what you're feeling is completely normal, everyone feels the same way, some people are just better at pretending they have everything figured out. I'm currently going thru similar regarding overthinking, it sometimes feels like my mind is working against me. And I still haven't found a way to become who I want to become. In fact, I don't even know who I want to become. Furthermore, I don't even know who I am. Whenever I'm supposed to give my opinion, what comes out of my mouth doesn't feel like my opinion, like it came from me. And whenever I geniuenly feel like this is a part of me I always somehow dismantle it with logical thinking and it turns out it never was a part of me to begin with. I just thougth it was.
Sometimes i wish that somenday i could enjoy with someone the third song of this playlist (No Clear Mind - Dream Is Destiny). The first time i listened it was four years ago, since this i got some weird feeling when i heard it. I really like it. I even don't listen it a lot, just because i dont wanna get tired of it.
One Is Glad To Be Of Service April Rain - К черту, Эндрю!
To be honest, at some moments, listening post-rock (sad and melancholy theme) escape me from myself and heal my "forever pain" although just a moment.. Wish I could heal it, not for a moment, but for my entire life :)
Thanks for posting. But I wouldn't say it's the saddest compilation. Mono and Gregor Samsa sounds mellow but with that kind of hope you can see after long rain with clearing sky. And imo I would choose different Gregor Samsa pease that is called Untitled #4. That's more sad than anything on this list.
When it's halloween and you don't want to go out nor hear the doorbell playing every 5 seconds so you put your headphones and pass a good evening anyway
Some Audrey Fall would be ok here or Pray for Sound - I've Seen Hell And It's White or God Is An Astronaut - Suicide By Star, but this is very good compilation. Thanks!
As a result of mistake, the song which starts in 13:03 is seen as "Burial At Sea" but it is "Are You There?" by Mono actually.

Abhinav Shaw agreed!
Great russian band

And a wonderful movie - "Bicentennial Man", I've seen it yesterday. Since now I love this track much more.
I have listened to this song for hours and I still feel like I want it to consume in more than just feeling it in my soul...

I've been a hardcore kid for almost 35 years, but this channel and all the great bands has made me fall in love with atmospheric "post rock!"

@Chibi God Yes, but as much as I consider sadness a bad feeling I find that melancholy only brings me nostalgia of better moments.
@Chibi God Sadness tends to root deeply on people, you don't know is there but when you less expect, it overcomes you. You are right, this type of music or the company of a closeup person that ease you are the best things on those moments.

Great idea for a collection of post rock. Glad to see april rain in there, a lot of their sad songs really resonate with me.
I love this uplifting music. You feel sad then listen to post rock and you feel better
Godspeed You Black Emperor - Sleep... it's so sad in the end of the prologue when the man says "Things change.. They don't sleep anymore on the beach."
It's amazing what sad postrock works on sad people. Thanks for the antology, can't wait for volume number two!
I realize this is a sad post-rock compilation, but that part where the vocals come in on the Yndi Halda song has to be one of the most uplifting and jubilant moments I've heard in music.

Наверное, умолять унизительно. Мне все равно.
Я люблю вас, Порше. Я полюбил вас в тот момент, когда впервые увидел.
To be honest, at some moments, listening post-rock (sad and melancholy theme) escape me from myself and heal my "forever pain" although just a moment.. Wish I could heal it, not for a moment, but for my entire life :)
I just have one word for this...AWESOME! Many bands I didn't know about, thanks :) I've looking or songs like this
Beautiful selection.
Please make a compilation of The happiest post-rock too ! @Worldhaspostrock
Thanks for posting. But I wouldn't say it's the saddest compilation. Mono and Gregor Samsa sounds mellow but with that kind of hope you can see after long rain with clearing sky. And imo I would choose different Gregor Samsa pease that is called Untitled #4. That's more sad than anything on this list.
sad, more like "melancholic chill/overall enjoyment"
Not sad enough. I’m not on the verge of tears yet.
Nvm. 0:30 hit me like a truck in an isekai.
GSYBE Storm is even saddest
Oh boy,
that´s the stuff,
mah sole
mah heart.
thanks buddy, this is ... magnificent
In the April Rain song, the samples are from Bicentennial Man!
You should add "Деревья умирают стоя XI", that is pure sad
When it's halloween and you don't want to go out nor hear the doorbell playing every 5 seconds so you put your headphones and pass a good evening anyway
subtracts from the song if you break it from the album, but its a good way to advertise albums we might never have heard.
Maybe even better than the compilation itself, is the list of other tracks people suggest in the comments!
here we go again
Silence in everywhere~
Oh there is a Godspeed you and Mono
Industries of the Blind the best, by far. Sadly, they did not have a long carrer... :(
Why is the fourth song saddest?
Because WHPR got its name wrong 😢
Thanks for this
Some Audrey Fall would be ok here or Pray for Sound - I've Seen Hell And It's White or God Is An Astronaut - Suicide By Star, but this is very good compilation. Thanks!
thanks for including sleep :))
One is glad to be of service...yes.
