I’ve been thinking about getting one of these as a first classical guitar coming from 15 years of playing steel and string and electric but seeing you’re endorsing them has put me over the edge. The wow factor alone it has bringing to a backyard party hanging out with other musician friends is worth every penny. Playing in a hammock on a beach outside with reverb getting proper original recording sustain. The full body sound. No cables, no Toneamp headache. game over

I've played for many years, and I've always wanted to learn classical. Been thinking a lot lately about picking up a nylon string guitar and going for it. I was planning to shop for a less expenive, entry level instrument, but this...this just might be the motivation I need to take the leap.

Hi Nathan, thanks for demonstrating the spruce top hivibe classical guitar.
I've been looking for a personal practice instrument that would inspire me, like I used to be when I enjoyed playing lute and guitar, in some churches that had beautiful acoustics.
So your very nice presentation and demonstration, pretty much provided me with the solution to my problem with trying to capture a personal experience, in personal practices, that would keep me inspired to return to the practice and passion and love I've always had for the guitar and the lute.
I can definitely assume, that with some intuition for the love of these genres of music, and I'm sure you might agree, that if our late and esteemed Julian Bream were to have been provided one or two of his lutes, guitars, vehuella, baroque guitar, with this lovely technology, he would simply adore it. I really mean that Nathan. Because Julian always enjoyed sharing with his audiences, not just the timeless mastery of the music, but also his great love of architecture that made pumping nylon, even better.
Just like you shared. It's really wonderful to have opportunity to play a plucked instrument like a lute/guitar, inside a beautiful chapel Nathan.
It's like being a mosquito in a blood bank happiness, that is very very special. Thank you again, and I hope I will be able to aquire the model hivibe classical you demonstrate.
You play beautifully also my brother.

Thanks Nathan, just a short added back story. I learned Monday that a personal concert classical guitar I've been waiting over 3&1/2 years for completion (ridiculous) won't be completed, so I'm fortunately going to have my deposit money returned. But I'm very saddened, and haven't been able to move on, cause it was supposed to be a dedication instrument for my late moms rememberace.
So, I can live without a very expensive concert instrument, but can't practice without a decent reliable daily playing instrument. So I'm hoping this will ease my inner anxiety from not having a instrument to play for a few years. And because I watched you play the hivibe, it's saving my backside, with some hope that I can afford it and also enjoy it.
Sometimes wanting can be more gratifying than having, sometimes, it's not logical but often times true.
      R

  • @gustavonoli
    @gustavonoli 3 года назад +9

I wish you had discussed volume. Does it amplify well? If so, how much more volume does it have over a high end modern classical guitar? Smallman, Damman, etc. have managed to charge huge prices for their guitars based on just a minuscule increase in volume over traditional Spanish makers. If this instrument could provide a considerable volume increase for the price discussed, it could be the beginning of a revolution. Imagine being able to accompany any orchestral instrument without having to beg them constantly to play softer.

I respect all the opinions, but I cannot move away from the clean sound of a fine wood classical guitar. What blows my mind in the fact that classical guitars don´t sound the same. Each guitar has its own and unique personality, independent from sound taste. Besides it is the technique, the stroke, the dynamics and the skill of the player that shapes sound.

Hi Nathan, thanks for the review. Very interesting idea - for the effects, maybe an alternative to the Yamaha silent guitar. Metronome is always useful (though I could imagine the features are limited compared to say the Korg that I normally use). Looper would be good for recording multiple parts as you mentioned (but can you record more than 1 layer?). And the reverb is just cool. P.S. 2 of the 3 classical models are out of stock, so you're doing a good job!

I wonder if players will now choose technology over the magnificent resonance of a beautiful guitar handmade by a knowledgeable luthier. It reminds me of Robert Frost who wrote in a repurposed woodshed in which he would not allow any item that was not also made of wood. It could speak to a spiritual orientation over against our end of time cynicism, a reflection of our values today. No one need get in a flap btw since I am as attracted to tech as much as anyone, but to craftsmanship too. I feel guilty about the former and hate superficial answers given the state of the world, our world.

    • @aliceverheij

It is an acoustic guitar. Can’t measure that in Watts. Watts is the unit of power and as such a measure of power consumption, not of output volume. That is measured in dB (decibel). And output volume is never listed for any guitar. For this guitar, it is classical guitar and output volume is limited by the body design and used woods.
