- What is a Pillow Block?
A pillow block is a type of bearing that is used to support a rotating shaft. It is typically made of cast iron or steel and has a housing that contains a ball bearing. The pillow block is mounted to a surface using bolts, and the shaft is inserted into the bearing. The pillow block allows the shaft to rotate smoothly and prevents it from wobbling.
Pillow blocks are available in a variety of sizes and styles, and can be used in a variety of applications. They are commonly used in industrial settings, such as in machine tools and conveyor belts. Pillow blocks are also used in home improvement projects, such as in ceiling fans and garage door openers.

Straight to the point, no wasted time. Thank you!
Glad it helped 👍
I need something like this for a vertical shaft that's nowhere close to a side wall. And these look like they can only be mounted very close, right on a wall (in my case, since the shaft is vertical). But my shaft isn't near a wall. Are there multiple types in regards to how they can be attached to a surface? Like: can I maybe find such bearings that have those ears oriented in such a way that the bearings can be mounted so the rotation is parallel to the surface they're mounted on, not perpendicular?
Yes, this is just an example configuration, there are tons of different types and mounting styles, a good place to start looking is that online McMaster-carr catalog www.mcmaster.com/products/power-transmission/
GOOD JOB ! :) Regards Paul P. :)

By whom is this bearing with support (UCP 210 K.S.B.) manufactured? Is it Chinese made or not? Since nowadays the Chinese make anything ..... . Waiting for info. Thank you very much.
Bought from seller on Amazon
@@WhatMakeArt Okay. There are a myriad of sellers online. But the fact remains that it is material (well made) but Chinese.
Yes, human all over the planet are equally capable of all human endeavors
Hi I'm new to pillow block. Can you guide how can i make the shaft rotate that is between two pillow blocks
Attach to to a shaft coupler and then attach that to a motoy
Can I pass motor shaft through only 1 pillow block and attach wheel on other side? Will it provide enough support?
That would depend on the application and the specs of the motor, I recommend consulting and engineer or the manufacturer of the motor and shaft
Hi can I use threaded rod of 10mm size as the shaft in pillow block
If you pick the right size pillow block you can use any size rod, just check the specs
I have a question. I've seen people removing their large pillow block from the shaft, and they needed a puller tool to get it off. I want my pillow block to slide freely across the shaft as yours does. Do you have any idea why a pillow block would lock on the shaft with the set screws backed out?
If it was a close tolerance press fit then it wouldn't slide, could also be old and worn out
@@WhatMakeArt Thanks
I want to make small gym equipment (t-bar row machine) where i need to use two pillow bearing. I was planning to buy the 17mm bore diameter bearing. But i can never find a 17mm shaft online. It's always 16mm or 18mm. How do i make it fit? Should i custom lathe the 18mm or will the 16mm fit?😥
The shafts are usually hardened so machining them on the lathe would be pretty difficult and then not the best outcome. Have you tried McMaster Car? They have 16mm shafts and all kinds of stuff

@@WhatMakeArt thank you so much for the reply. So, that means, i need the exact shaft diameter as the bearing bore right?
Generally they should match
