    Richard Rohr helped me in my conversion to Catholicism. I was “spiritual but not religious.” He, and the documents of Vatican 2, allowed me in good conscience to convert. Four years later, Traditional Catholic and go to the TLM. I don’t necessarily agree anymore with Rohr but very grateful to him for his role in my conversion.

      @apubakeralpuffdaddy392 Father Rohr is a Catholic Priest in good standing for many decades. He recently met with the Pope who instructed him to continue doing what he is doing. You have a story here of a man who renewed his faith in the church thanks to Father Rohr. These squabbles are really very unimportant I think in comparison to a life lived in orthopraxy

      I agree with Trent Horn. I think people in general are trying to make others so called happy like Oprah for instance. He gave her what she wanted to hear it just sounded to me and then sprinkled in a little bit of the truth. I think we do so much to let people feel good by our words that we don’t really tell what needs to be said and that’s a really big issue a problem. I’m reading the Bible and also reading some apologetics also and on top of that I listen to biblical teachings on my phone while at work. I’m not sharing this to boast or brag about any of that but what I am trying to do is to stay in Gods word and on top of that it’s Awesome learning it’s Fun and that’s what a lot of people get lazy about and make excuses about is not picking up the Bible because all in all if you pick it up you definitely won’t lay it down 👍🏼☀️ Godbless

    My first introduction Fr. Rohr is when I got into a 12 step program. Rohr has not only written a book on 12 step spirituality but references the founders Dr. Bob and Bill W. in his other work. I believe Rohr has an appeal to people who feel alienated by religious legalism which is a lot of people in 12 step programs. In the universal Christ book he makes a lot of references to theologian Teilhard de Chardin and the Eastern fathers. Its also had some funny lines.

Rohr is exploring the established Catholic doctrine of 'the "hypostatic union": Jesus Christ as both fully God and fully man, both perfectly Divine and perfectly human, with two complete and distinct natures at once. All Rohr is doing (which it's hard to believe you can't see), is using "Jesus" to refer to the human nature . . . and "Christ" to refer to the Divine nature. Sometimes he talks about "Jesus" . . . and sometimes about human nature in general. Sometimes he talks about "Christ" . . . and sometmes about Divine nature in general. Thank you so much for these videos, Trent. I’m still trying to wrap my head (and heart) around the theology and philosophy of the Catholic Church. I was “raised” “Catholic,” but wandered away by my teens. Became a philosopher, therapist, and eventually psychoanalyst (I still love my work), and at the beginning of this year began regularly reading the Bible. This past Easter I went to Mass for the first time in over 20 years, and have been on fire ever since. I am filled with joy in repenting and coming back into communion with the Church and with Christ. I have so much work to do, but I know my faith will guide me home.
    I went through a very brief Rohr phase (for probably a few weeks). Then he said, in a podcast, that he dislikes baseball and other sports, and finds competition to be silly and childish. (I think it’s maybe because he couldn’t catch a baseball.) I’m not sure what the Bible says about baseball, but ever since then Rohr’s ideas have felt too soft and comfortable to me.

Earth is Billions of years old, Evolution is irrefutably true given the evidence, Never has the earth been destroyed by a Global flood. tricky hey So did Jesus prove that he wasn't"all knowing" - when he supposedly stated - "As it was in the days of Noah" - The days of Noah are Mythology - meant to describe how to "go within" to seek shelter.

I do know Father Rohr has helped so many not walking away from their faith because of church failings. Maybe ask the H.S. to give you the gift of spiritual discernment before you make a judgement. As for myself I have found churchianity well populated by the Pharisaical spirit reliant on traditional ideology. Maranatha ❤️

    I loved Fr. Rohr’s writings before I became Catholic, but I found his works unattractive after my conversion. I failed to realize that the problem went much deeper than mere discomfort. Thank you God for using Mr. Horn. This was an eye opener.

    Wow, this video really came in very spiritually handy. I am thankful that God put it in my face. I’ve been reading this commentary-type book from Bohr himself and Patrick Boland called “Every Thing is Sacred” and it’s about this other book “The Universal Christ” by Bohr (that one I haven’t read so far) and I’ve been swallowing it’s content and even explained some of it to my girlfriend…
    It’s weird for me now, because I’ve read Francis of Assisi’s prayer before (which author cites in this particular book) and I’ve never thought of Christ as that “universal christ” that is everywhere and in everything.
    Now, (thankfully) I will still try to finish reading the book but with a new mind accompanied with skepticism towards that idea of a pantheistic christ which is not Jesus Christ.
    Again, thanksgiving should be given to God for his mercy on all these kind of similar situations where He himself serves as an obstacle for you to remain in Him who is Truth.
    I also find surprising that this video of Horn was uploaded just 4 months ago. This topic might me something very controversial among Catholics since I think Bohr is a Catholic priest? I’m not sure. Anyway, prayers be made for the souls of those who are also swallowing those strange teachings concerning Jesus Christ, the son of Mary and the Son of God; the Lord of creation who Himself sustains the whole cosmos with the power of his word.
    Hebrews 1:3
    And He is the radiance of His glory and the exact representation of His nature, and upholds all things by the word of His power. When He had made purification of sins, He sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high,

    It's very concerning to me that Fr Richard Rohr should not have received episcopal sanction for publishing this book. It seems full of heresies and half-tuths as well as theological psychobable that indulges in New Age spirituality. In the video, Trent makes the point that at least the book did not receive an Imprimatur, but I'm sorry that is not good enough. It should not have been published. His Bishop should have sanctioned him. He has caused such scandal and confusion among the faithful.

      At this point I don't think a single book should be published about the faith by a Catholic without it having a nihil obstat and imprimatur.

    • @ConnieRossini
      @ConnieRossini Год назад +4

      @@kelly4187 the Imprimatur is only as reliable as the censor who reviews books for a particular bishop. It would not totally solve the problem in our day. Not to mention that publishing schedules make it difficult for many orthodox books to be reviewed by the diocese.

    Thank you for doing this video Trent. There is a certain Jesuit that gets a lot of your attention but is not nearly as dangerous as this Franciscan. It's about time the Church looks to censure his outright heresy!

      yes, why is the Church not burning heretics alive today? This could be so easily sorted out with a few sticks of kindling and a match. Poor old Giordano Bruno was sent to the stake for less than this. And Jan Hus. Of course Luther was protected by powerful secular princes, but they would have gladly toasted him alive if they could have. Has the Church gone soft?

      Absolutely! The tactic of presenting a half truth can knock people off balance. And particularly when it’s a priest speaking, a Catholic will assume the priest is more knowledgeable and give him the benefit of the doubt. Then once they’re off track the next half truth is easier to swallow and so it goes. It is diabolical.

    Father Richard Rohr is a great teacher , with insights for mature Christians to continue on a faith journey toward a deeper , more intimate relation ship with God and all Creation . I rejoice that my brother , Richard , has been given the wisdom and courage to speak about more of the mysteries God has offered us. I have been a life-long Protestant , and began my journey in an evangelical ( non-judgmental ! ) church . My parents always lived, and taught me to live a life of tolerance and love , and to follow the teachings of Jesus . As my journey continued , I joined the Moravian ( from the time of the Reformation ) Church. The motto is " IN ESSENTIALS , UNITY ; IN NON-ESSENTIALS ,LIBERTY ;
    AND IN ALL THINGS , LOVE . " There have been contemplative prayer sessions in my church . Father Richard's teachings are quite conservative , in the best sense of the word. How wonderful , what a gift of grace we've been given to learn the lessons in our history that open us to return , to learn , to be courageous , to become stillness . I wonder why the dear , blessed, revolutionary Pope chose the name Francis . I also wonder what he and our Franciscan Father Rohr spoke about ...........

I am a new convert of one year and it is easy to be confused so I stick with CA and the rest of your apologists to get my info straight. Rita , Richard Rohr 's writing is very deep , so deep that Trent does not truly understand
      what Richard is on about , because what is written about the ' universal Christ ' is clearly affirmed in the Scriptures ( Colossians 1 , Ephesians 1 , John 1 , Hebrews 1 ) and in the early Church when the Christian faith was still creative and expanding .
